  1. I've got a colecovision (no adam unfortunately), but I can't take any pics until my folks come back from holidays (they took the digital camera). If you still need the pics two weeks from now, let me know.
  2. I'm actively on a real sega binge right now... Picked up a friend's mega drive, then got given a free game adaptor cartridge when I bought some other carts at a thrift 'for having nice manners'.. this cart is good, as it lets me play jap. carts on my .au mega drive (I grabbed a stack of them during my local thrifts 'awesome restock sale' they have every now and then) also been picking up a lot of master system games in the past week, which is great, as they hardly ever turned up in the past. (still need the light gun though ).
  3. Indeed, genecyst is a genesis/mega drive emulator. It's made by the same group who wrote Nesticle (blood lust software if I remember rightly). If you can't find a copy anywhere, I'd be happy to put one up on my uni site temporarily. One of my fav. sound tracks... Altered Beast
  4. quote: .I want to know how i can clean the controll port out without damaging it. Compressed air works a treat if there's only dust in there.... I keep a can of compressed air in my room & use it to clean all my systems & carts. (I find that when I clean my carts with a cotton wool bud - or q-tip? - they actually leave traces of cotton on the contacts, which is just as bad as the dirt... the compressed air gets rid of these traces) Noble Kale
  5. First time getting drunk.... was on a pub crawl of my own organisation. We ended up at this stupid '80s' bar, but in the corner was a Galaxian upright.... stumbled over & played quite well As for the dropkick murphys, First heard them on an 'Epitaph Sound Sampler' cd that was stuck to my copy of 80-85... a song called 'Mr McHaggis'... excellent
  6. Well, if you don't mind using midi's, the following site is quite a good source: http://www.vgmusic.com/ Secondly, you may be able to pick up some theme songs in mp3 form by searching around audiogalaxy (try searches on 'Video Game Music' & 'Nintendo' & 'Commodore', and other specific searches). If you want to actually record the songs yourself, my advice would be to look for emulators that allow wave file recording (I think Nesticle & genecyst allow this... not sure as I haven't played with these in a while). I've been wanting an arcade theme audio cd for a while, and managed to grab a fair amount of tracks... just haven't gotten round to actually burning the cd yet Hope this helps, Noble Kale
  7. quote: Liquid_Sky Wrote: One thing that i thought of that atari games had, is the jump in and play attitude.. I dont think games should have tons and tons of rules and manuals and stuff to learn, because games after all, are escapes from the tedious toil of reading and learning and living by the rules (or cutting it close enough to count). This is most obvious these days with fighting games (eg: all the latest streetfighter games...). You don't stand a chance if you don't know the obscure combinations to make all of the moves..... It's funny how I loved street fighter 2 & mortal kombat back when I was younger, but now I just can't seem to get close to liking modern fighting games... they're way too complex for a simple 'walk up and play' attitude. (the closest I come to a fighting game these days is omf:2097 ). Noble Kale
  8. quote: Ze_ro wrote: For some reason, mothers have very little respect for 80's technology, and unless you get it across to them that it's still important to you, she'll be throwing it out before you've even closed the door. As an example of parental stupidty, a family friend joined the army.. when he came home, his parents had moved house without his knowing (imagine the feeling of walking in to find complete strangers!). When he got to their new house, he found that his mum had thrown out his Phantom comics (which were *all* original, and ranged in a straight set from #1-#1000). He cried a lot that day. As for space... I should point out that you shouldn't forget the space under your bed! I have 2 inty's, a nes, 2 2600's, a sms I, a colecovision & a mega drive under my bed (along with my slot-car set...) & it's only a single bed Try and get some shelving put up in your new room... easily store boxed games, systems... and displays well too Have fun at college Noble Kale
  9. Well, it's all said and done over here, but Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all get something you want (but if you all get LOTR protos, they won't be as valuable - you have been warned ).... Just for kicks, I wrapped a few of my 2600 carts and threw them under the tree along with a heavy sixer... my parents were looking at each other as if to say 'Did you give that to him?' Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone Noble Kale
  10. While I've had an inty sitting in my cupboard for a little while (snagged one among a large windfall of various systems...), I had no games to play However, yesterday I managed to pick up another console (soon to be traded), & the following games: Burgertime (fairly decent Happy Trails (not bad to play) Dracula Safecracker (no clues on how to play this...) & Q*bert All of this was among a lot of other things I picked up. Played the inty well into the night, but still prefer the 2600... inty controllers suck too much (not enough weight, so they don't feel right). It's an ok system though, wish I had the voice module...
  11. Little off-topic, but an atari find as well Fell asleep on the way to a thrift today (I was on the train), and dreamt of walking into the thrift store (nothing else). Woke up, made my way to the thrift, and found an Intellivision with 6 carts (my first Inty carts, YAY!), and some 2600 carts (Donkey Kong, Marauder, Atlantis , Starmaster, Breakout & Sky Jinks). Went to the next thrift, and picked up a power cable for the Inty & some commodore stuff My horoscope proved correct too... it said 'you always manage to stay one step ahead of your opponents'... this was true I'm one very happy boy
  12. I've been throwing around the idea of making a pendant/thing of an atari fuji symbol, by carving it out of wood. (first I have to sharpen my knife though). I figure people won't give me any grief 'cause they'll think its something 'tribal'.... Anyone else made any atari jewellry?
  13. quote I wish. I think that my close proximity to my collection (It's all in my bedroom), has 'bonded' me with the local thrifts, giving me inate senses about good finds I also get 'that feeling' when a cart is in the area (this week it pointed me to a new source of sega games) Last year, I had a recurring & progressive dream over a period of a month or so (probably brought on by stress due to school work) though. Now that I think about it, I kinda had a dream the night before I found a few (ok, a lot) of systems at the same thrift..... makes me wonder...
  14. I had a dream once about going to a specific thrift in my area, and finding 24 atari carts. Woke up, skipped uni and headed to that thrift (its 2 hours travel there). Walked in the door, and found exactly 24 carts. (I had been to that thrift the day before, and found nothing). It freaked me completely, as they were *exactly* the carts I had dreamed about (even down to the actiplaque damage on the label of the enduro cart).
  15. Always had my Atari - my dad bought one for himself when I was very young. Didn't really get to play it much, as it was a 'rainy day toy' - meaning my parents didn't want me to play with it much... As a result, I generally got to play my atari during the christmas season (very long holidays, and parents would do anything to keep me occupied) But, I have two friends out looking for ataris for me for christmas... does that count? (they have to out-thrift me first though )
