  1. well, if the Al's ever decide to use the sticky function, that particular thread would be able to sit at the top of the forum and be easily found.... Mind you, it went a bit.... off topic iirc. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1859
  2. There was a thread a long while back in the off topic section about good traders on the board... myabe it's time to go dig that one up
  3. Aiiiiie! *Welcomes back the ole thread...* The only way to kill this thread would be to bury it in a landfill, run it over with bulldozers, pour cement over it and built a shopping centre on top of it.......
  4. Agreed. Sega really had no choice. It's unfortunate that their marketing console-wise was very pathetic... (hey, I think that's one of the first things I've agreed with Adrian about.... )
  5. Has anyone managed to make this work? There's a driver floating on the net, but it seems to have a problem. I tell it to read 'serial port 1', and it defaults to reading modem 1 (Always). The only way I could get it to read serial port 1 was by using it under steem (and it only did it when I tried tos 2.06). In other words, it wouldn't work under the tos 1.0 that my 1040 st has unless I use modem 1 as the port for my mouse, which I cant
  6. I was wondering about the possibilities of using linux on my Atari ST (yes, I'm *very bored). I've seen a bit of a faq about using one as a serial terminal..... but I was wondering if anyone has some more up to date information/ideas?
  7. You see a large thrift store ahead of you. >Enter thrift You enter the thrift. Around you are screaming children, unsanitary conditions and several tons of smelly clothing >Go to Electrical Section You head to the electrical section. You see several nes units next to each other, labelled 'Rare cassette players! $20 each!'. >Look Nes Units Flipping open the cartridge bay on a nearby NES, you find an atari cart. >Get Atari Cart You pick up the cart >Look Cart The cart is in good condition. The game is 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. It is priced 5 cents. >Run with cart to checkout. You try, but the children intercept you, steal the cartridge and smash it into little pieces by 'playing' with it and a hammer. >Cry The shopkeeper tells you that they will replace the cartridge, and hands you a copy of 2600 Pacman. >Run screaming You run away. The Pacman cart follows you. >Run like Hell Forget it. Pacman for the 2600 *is* hell! ... ... Too late, you are caught. You are forced to play pacman for the atari 2600 for eternity. ** It seems your game has ended. Play Again? (Y/N) **
  8. I have a joypad. I use it on my st rather than with my 2600 as that is my main game machine. It's not bad, while I did notice that buttons get stuck, I have no problem with left/right. However, if you're an 'enthusiastic' player, you may prefer something that's a lot more solid....
  9. Missile command & roadrunner are screaming your way as I type this. By the way, your last email was 'empty'. you may want to send me a pm instead.
  10. Combat & Air Sea Combat definately. I'll have to go look in my collection now....
  11. Air Sea Combat: Until my brother starts crying like a little girl (two player) Pacman: until I realise how bad it is... Miner 2049er: To the third screen off-topic (yeah, yeah, I know...) that is one freaking cool smilie:
  12. people listen to stan? Oh, wait, I do....
  13. I just realised.... I've had breakout and a set of paddles for.... months (probably a year now), and I've never sat down to play it.... Weird. As for my addictive games? Centipede & Phoenix. Always good for blasting away at 2am the night before an exam (which is exactly what I was doing before my exams)
  14. Inky: hmm, 3 disks. Anyone else have any requests while you have me running between my different computers looking for files?
  15. I just located star raiders in my archives. that will be heading your way in a few minutes. Inky: apparently I have gauntlet 3. I haven't tested it though, but if you need it, drop me a line over email.
  16. I have an image of rogue. drop me an email at: noblekale@stalag13.com :)
  17. I myself use either a Wico Boss stick (the grey, black & white stick ), a sega arcade stick (heavy base, good springs... arcade bliss) or if I can't be bothered digging one of the two above out, a sega mega drive pad. Also, hooked up to my st is a small atari gamepad I got with my 7800 (with a small stick on the left). The original 2600 joysticks.... just don't feel right. Too small, and don't have enough weight or responsiveness. Also prone to breaking - but only in one direction. You can be playing well, and go to dodge.... only to find the joystick don't work in that direction :(
  18. I would not include this in the 'acceptable' bracket. Things that have been permanently marked with kiddie scrawl, I would class as 'damaged'. I'm not a nut about cart condition, but it is annoying to buy carts that have 'bIllY' written on them (as I have in the past), especially if it's not specifically mentioned. This is why photos are good.
  19. I'm working on a program to identify st disk images (ie: via checksums), with support for screenshots, box art, and the formatting of disks... blah blah blah. The downside is, I still have about 3k more images to enter into the database ( ). The other downside is that it's coded in visual basic. Once I learn more java though (through university), I'll definately be rewriting the program. As for images, if you need anything specific, drop me a line.... I managed to accumulate 1.9gb of st prog's when I had access to cable....
  20. Ok then. I think I can manage that. If you have any more advice about how you would like things scanned, I'd be happy to listen.
  21. I was recently prowling through the rarity guide and noticed that you don't have a box scan for the HES release of Starmaster. I have scanned mine and placed it here: http://opax.swin.edu.au/~215538/Starmaster-Cover.jpg It's one of the HES releases that doesn't come in a box, but more of a video cassete plastic book like thing (yes, that's a technical term ), so what's there is a scan of the 'sleeve' of the box. I was wondering how big you prefer to have your box scans? I can probably do that one much bigger (and better quality) if necessary...
  22. By my more loose definition, yes. The real fact of the matter is, in 50 years time, when (if) you have grandchildren... are you still going to be complaining that the nes isn't classic because it was barely around pre-crash? Put simply, you won't. All systems become classics, and it's merely a differentiation between individuals as to at what point this 'label' applies.
  23. yup. Our Nes looks like the us nes, but our snes looks like the japanese counterpart.
