  1. I just checked with the rgvc guys..and was told this is a Brazillian 2600 sold by Polyvox. I hadn't seen this particular VCS before and thought you might find it interesting. here is a link. http://page.auctions.yahoo.com/auction/531...?aucview=search enjoy!
  2. Rob... This isn't your wonderland. Either post useful info or else go back. Please?
  3. How funny to see this?! I just won an ebay auction for this game CIB for $5. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...item=1250482435 Hmmm..well..I just won that on Monday and it has already been removed from their database. Sorry about that. I have only played it in emulation as I don't even remember seeing it as a kid. Even if I had I wouldn't have figured it out. But in answer to the original question when you get the final temple depending on what game level you play. The game will either just end and I think go to a darker shade on the screen...or simply just play some tune. If your playing a more difficult level then you need to get the staff of Ra I believe to offer the temple before you can complete it. [ 07-05-2001: Message edited by: -^Cro§Bow^- ]
  4. Thanks guys, This is what I figured. I basically always unplugged my old 4 switch adapter from the wall...and that is the only one I have ever had die on me (Frayed cord at the box point). As for the heat..it is searing..it just warm. I wouldn't say I need gloves...but then..they will get warm when you have four of them plugged into one strip...and then three four others on another right next to. But...as I stated...I unplug the surge from the outlet when leaving for extended periods of time. For now...I shall just leave everything plugged in and at the ready for me.
  5. NE I can't remember sepcifically as I Crystal Castles used to be a Zone game for me. But as I recall they get to a point where they either repeat all over...or start randomizing. But there isn't an ending per se.
  6. that isn't too different from that commercial that IBM has with the guy on the park bench in the St. Marks plaza in Venice...hehe...You know the one right?
  7. whoa.. Nukey shay...you say that the switch controlled the Primary engines? I know I played Space Shuttle on my 7800 as that was when My buddy got the game. I was able to play completely through it several times...and able to dock with that crazy satellite so much..that I got really bored of doing it..and would eventually land. So I know I was able to get around that. Perhaps it was something you only had to just switch to for a second or something?
  8. I am curious to hear that the VCS will run on as little as 5 volts. I say this because my old 4 switch woody (Which was given away long ago), used to have a variable voltage adapter I got from Radio Shack back in 85 I think. Anyway, I was bored one day and decided to start dropping the voltage on the adapter to the VCS to see how long it would run. As soon as I got to about 6.5-7.0 volts...the VCS colors would go all screwy...it still played..but looked like crap. I found it would work fine at about 7.5 volts off that adapter...but anything really lower..and I actually had visual anomalies. Does this mean that there was...or could have been a problem with the 5volt sub circuit on my old 4 switch woody? It did have a problem once before this but I found it be a short from the damn heatsink paste they plastered all over that lower left transitor. Wiped it up and it worked fine after that.
  9. something else I have never seen posted...but you should know about. Space Shuttle can still be played...I don't remember what the function of the bw/color switch was for on the game..but I played it first on my 7800 and was really quite good at it... Also...On Starmaster... Here is a little undocumented trick. In the StarMaster manual it says to leave the difficulty switches alone. I know why...because they will also serve to switch to the map...without needing the bw/color switch. The problem with using them on a 2600 is that they would reverse the function of the bw/color switch and make it confusing to remember which was which. However, since the 7800 as you stated uses that switch for pause...you can use the left difficulty switch on the unit just like the old BW/Color switch. You see...there has been a workaround for nearly everything on the 7800. I still don't see a compatibility issue on the older model 7800s.
  10. Not sure why you have problems getting Imagic games to go into the thing. They fit fine in my 7800. Tempest has stated that the only carts he has trouble with..are the Telegames releases I think...or something like that. I just had to push really hard at first to get my Dragon Fire, Cosmic Ark, Trick Shot, and Atlantis carts to get in there. But over time...they seem to fit in quite easily now.
  11. Ze_ro I would say the Vader model 4 switch units are more uncommon than the 4 switch woodys. But if the ultimate in rare 2600 VCS is the original 6 switch heavy sixers from the 77 year. The later revision 6 switch didn't have the tank plating over the main stella circuits as the 77 models did. Also though I have never owned a Vader model myself...I have heard that their picture quality is horrible (Like the Jr models.) Just a heads up there.
  12. If you can get ahold of one of the 84 model 7800s...you won't have a compatibility problem. And as Tempest, JagDiesel, and myself can tell you...those 84 model 7800s aren't nearly as rare as they may seem. I can play Robot Tank in mine...as well as some of the others (Decatholon). Keep watching ebay as I have seen at least 3 84 model 7800s in the past 6 months there.
  13. hate it when I forget to log in..and don't get credit for my posts...hehe..
  14. Yes they will work. I remember long ago when my Adapter died on me on my old 4 switch. That was back in like 85-86 I think. Anyway, I went to radio shack on just got me one of those Archer universal adapter with the adjustable voltage. As far as I know...that damn thing is probably still working today somewhere. (Got rid of the 4 switch when I got my 7800 hehhe).
  15. You went there... I was gonna keep my mouth shut..but you went there.
  16. Actually... If you can find the supercharger games as .bin files. They will play in z26. I have played Frogger this way...and also got started on DragonStomper. In other words...z26 can do it all.
  17. I still have fun with my Father's old erector set! Hehe...great fun...now if I could just figure out the whole cold fusion thing...then I would be set! You know it has to be possible to invent cold fusion with an erector set...it just has to be.
  18. It is quite possible that he has Pal carts which are causing this. But there is also another reason. Some of the TVs do not care for the tall aspect and odd scanline modes that the 2600 used to use. My old 1980 Magnavox was doing this rolling bit on several games...mainly all non-Atari. CBS games...and US Games were the worst on this. Then I recently (2 weeks ago) was given 27inch TV/Monitor from a club from way back. Those problems...aren't there anymore. So basically my newer TV was able to handle it better than the old 1980 Magnavox I was using. My suggestion is to try a different TV...not really a newer one..just a different one.
  19. I don't care that it was long...it was a joy to read. I enjoyed that story quite a bit. However, I do feel it was still possible for that guys old "Stella" to be fixed.
  20. No shocker here to everyone... For me it is the 7800. I love the compatibility to play all my old 2600 stuff on it. I like the controllers on it better for me they have always been more durable. While not really being a classic to some since it was after great crash of '84. I love my Genesis and all I have with it next to that 7800. [ 07-02-2001: Message edited by: -^Cro§Bow^- ]
  21. What's funny is that when Ken from Activision was looking for those binaries etc... I mistakenly said something about how cool it was than he was in contact with Gary about his lost protos. Then he corrected me by stating it was not Gary but Dan he had been talking to. I guess it is just interesting to hear Ken mention those "Lost" works by Dan...and then here we get this article wherein Dan states the validity of these protos. That sequal to Kapers sounds absolutly Kick @SS!!! [ 07-02-2001: Message edited by: -^Cro§Bow^- ]
  22. Hehhe. Tunnel Runner... Your George Reese then? You run the boneyard...my Stella is number 15 (Sears Heavy Sixer). I actually would have figured out your name from the ebay account you listed. Anyway, that is cleared up now. [ 07-02-2001: Message edited by: -^Cro§Bow^- ]
  23. No mock up of the Airwold box has been made that I know of. But there was that shot showing the proposed artwork that was done for Airworld. I believe the AHS has this or is it AtariHQ? Eitherway, if somebody does know of...or has seen a shot of a mock up Airworld box...plz...post a link as I would like to see it.
  24. Liquid_sky. z26 does hose up the screenshots...no doubt...but there is a way to do it. Pause the game in z26..and then hit the "Printscreen" key. Then minimize to windows and pull up MS Paint and then paste to a new image. You should get a clean screenshot of your game in z26. That is what I have to do for some of my reviews and the screenshots to go with them. Hope that helps.
  25. Typical of his more offensive and yet not well known personality traits coming through. Hence why we try and ignore him. Tempest could tell you more about the kinds of crap this guy has posted in other places. Some of what he has written to Tempest personally was much more offensive. You actually saw a much more mild side of it.
