  1. I had it maybe about six months before I upgraded to a 600XL (for the keyboard). This is back when I was about 13, so no modding! Come to think of it, I don't remember what happened to the 400. I'm definitely curious what that DB25 is doing on yours.
  2. My first computer was a 400 also, and there's something about the colors on that flat keyboard that I find very appealing and welcoming.
  3. I don’t know Alps made any of the Atari keyboards. Is there a picture of the keycaps these?
  4. Can't believe no one has mentioned this important fact:
  5. Thanks - there's some interesting information there! Yeah, I wonder where those XE dates come from, since they're not in either one of the sources they identify.
  6. Does anyone have a reference to when the 65XE/130XE were manufactured? Michael Current's 8bit FAQ lists manufacturing dates for the 400/800 and XL models, but not for the XEs.
  7. Other useful recreations: Atari 800 ROM/RAM (CX801/CX853) card labels. Many of the units I see for sale have surprisingly faded/damaged labels. Serial number labels. For those of us who have damaged/missing labels - or want a new label after retrobrighting! (Of course there's a potential for abuse, here, but that's true of all these things...)

    Trak-Ball feel

I'm trying to decide between the different Atari Trak-Balls available for use in emulation. For those of you have have tried the 5200 and 2600/8bit variants: Is there much difference in the feel between the CX53 and the CX22/CX80?
  9. Strange to hear about Bradley at Best. I just ordered a handful of items from him about a week ago and he responded via email and shipped immediately. Maybe something's come up in the last few days. You should list the specific items you need here in case someone has something to ship you directly. Also, if they're common parts, I'd check with the C64 dealers.
  10. I tried to PM Simius about this, but it looks like his mailbox may be full. Does anyone have a link to installation instructions? Also, I'm planing putting both this and an Incognito in my 800 -- other than having to modify the case/shielding, does anyone think I'll run into problems?
  11. Had my 800 opened up so I took pictures of everything with a label on it... 426489 / 103 NTSC with Mitsumi keyboard
  12. Coincidentally, one of the few, kinda crappy carts I happen to still have (a small number a friend thoughtfully picked up for me at a thrift store many years ago) is a Parker Brothers Frogger. Here's a scan I made when I was thinking about this last night (note that there are images of the front, back and top): https://archive.org/details/frogger1983parkerbrothers And here's my also-not-in-good-shape 1981 Space Invaders label: https://archive.org/details/spaceinvaders1981ataricxl4008 Note that these are 1,200 DPI scans in TIFF format, so you may not like them if you're on a low bandwidth connection.
  13. I was just wondering if anyone had taken them time to make high-res scans of the Atari cartridge labels, and now I find this thread and Mr Robot's wonderful work. Have you seriously recreated every cart that was made??
  14. Sorry to resurrect this, but I was just wondering if the original design Pantone numbers were ever made available. Who is this mysterious "Curt", and how do we get him to spill the details??
  15. Please put me down for a full build in a 3D-printed case, blue board if they're still available!
