  1. The Spectrum Next and other similar projects assume there’s demand for something between classic systems and modern systems. At least on the Atari side, that demand had never materialized - at least not enough to support a commercial product. The number of classic computer enthusiasts is pretty small, and the number of those who are interested in anything other than the classic systems they grew up with is much smaller than that. Combine that fact with the fact that the vast majority of that small group of enthusiasts are only consumers, not producers of software, and you end up with a situation where even if there’s a large enough user base to support creating new hardware, you have a minimal amount of software to take advantage of those new capabilities.
  2. Ummm... that's news to me. It's one of the ones on the list to look into in more detail. Can you provide the actual ATX file or its checksum? Are you still testing on your Incognito 800, or something else?
  3. Really amazing work - thank you! This really would benefit from mouse or tablet support, if you can squeeze that in.
  4. That's incredible information - thanks! I don't know that we'll be able to deal with that in FujiNet, but at least that explains what's happening.
  5. This is shocking! Have the circumstances of his passing been reported? Was it expected?
  6. In my case, it’s not that it’s difficult, it’s that I’m trying to minimize the amount of force I’m applying against the FujiNet SIO connector. To pull the card out, I have to apply some force inwards towards the card and body of the FN in order to get a “grip” on the end of the card. This force gets translated against the FN SIO connector and the Atari SIO socket in which it’s inserted. Those are two parts which would be difficult to replace, so I want to minimize that force. I may be being overly cautious, but it’s an easy change to make with potentially significant benefits. If I weren’t testing FujiNet and frequently swapping the card I might not bother.
  7. Here's my home-made solution with a small piece of clear packing tape:
  8. Fun fact: There are more years between now and the introduction of Windows XP than there were years between the introduction of the Atari 600XL/800XL and the debut of Windows XP.
  9. Side note: You may not need the UART driver. I set up a new Windows 10 machine two weeks ago and have been using it to update firmware, debug, etc., without issue using the Windows built-in driver.
  10. YMMV... I ended up attaching a piece of tape to the end of my uSD card. I do keep my nails pretty short, though....
  11. I have the same set up (Lotharek, svideo, RetroTink, LCD) but get the same jailbars as @Fierodoug5. I was a bit disappointed since this is after putting in UAV, so I’m hopeful like @tf_hh that a shielded cable will address the issue.
  12. Definitely use web fonts and avoid using images for text. Not only are the images not text searchable, but they won’t scale well for different displays.
  13. Yeah, this is where we leave our friend WROOM behind. It's almost certainly rebooting the device because it's out of memory.
  14. There's an option to order that first cable with a single RCA jack instead of the 3.5mm. Curiously, the second cable doesn't explicitly say it's "double-shielded". I wonder if there's really a difference.
  15. Here's a scan I made and cleaned up earlier in the year.
  16. Yes - only titles with some very simple protection will work right now. Should have something much more substantial by the weekend.
  17. Yes, Plex support would be great, because it's currently only possible to run a Plex client on... <checks notes>... every conceivable device with a working CPU in 2020...
  18. The causes and mitigations for this particular form of video distortion aside, Lotharek’s product description clearly states this cable is “fully shielded” and that is incorrect - at least in the samples we’re looking at. I doubt he meant to be deceitful, but the fact remains that what he delivered was not what he advertised.
  19. This looks like it'd be great. There's someone selling them on etsy for $30, which is fine, but they also want $30 for shipping.
  20. While @tschak909 back returns to normal, work is continuing on several fronts: @mozzwald has been working on some small tweaks to the hardware, along with some game-related experiments in his underground laboratory Print-Master @jeffpiep continues his amazing experiments in ancient printer emulation, focusing on the better-than-the-real-thing Okimate 10 @Mr Robot has made some more tweaks to the great-looking new web interface And I've been working on ATX support... Meanwhile, people around the globe have been toying and tinkering with FujiNet in its current form!
  21. I'd love to see a picture of the soldering work done on a properly shielded cable. I have a pretty good idea of how it needs to be done, but pictures always help.
  22. Well, it's starting to look easier to just build our own...
