@Albert I'm just curious how much more traffic AA has seen since the Atari announcement was made, if you can/care to share. I've had all sorts of friends/acquaintances who have never mentioned AA before talking about this today haha. Some know I'm an active participant here, others I've never mentioned AA to.

Announcing Towers II Enhanced Stargazer Edition
Biff Burgertime replied to Songbird's topic in Atari Jaguar
Has Jag Jaeger ever given his thoughts on developing a game for a console he shares a name with? -
Excellent point. They used to make 1/3lb burgers, but marketing found that 1/4lb burgers sold better before because 4>3, people thought they were getting a better deal... 🤦♂️ Similar deal with some OTC meds. Various studies have found the ideal of dose Melatonin is <1mg. Yet it's usually sold in 3mg tablets because the customer perceives bigger = a better value.

Announcing Towers II Enhanced Stargazer Edition

It's amazing how this photo and your simple description of it, strikes me as more impressive than much of the Jag-era magazine hype I've seen. "It's capable of rendering 58-gaZILLION polygons!" Sounds cool I guess, but I have no frame of reference for that. However, walking down a sparsely-lit hallway? That's relatable to anyone with 2 functioning eyes (hell, even 1). An effect like that adds an element of realism that would've been unfathomable on prior-gen consoles. Sometimes it's the simple things that hit harder. -
It's a good time. Fast-paced, simple controls, and a dash of silliness.

and even if he got his wish and a "SNESMaker" appeared out of thin air tomorrow, anyone familiar with his behavior knows exactly how that would go... A general-purpose, idiot-proof game-creation tool like that just adds another layer of abstraction between the bare metal inside the console & the game creator. You're not going to unleash the untapped POWER of the SNES via a game creation tool. He'll just keep repeating the same things he does now: that PVSnesLib is too complex, that the hypothetical SNESMaker is too simple, but golly-gee if only the right tools existed... he'd blow our minds!

As @roots.genoa mentioned, the Japanese games are where it's at. I played the hell out of Fire Pro D back in the day, so much that I kinda ruined it haha. I can't play it anymore, I've already done/seen all there is, you know? I would use 8 memory cards to load up all the DLC moves, custom rosters, logos, etc. Loved it. Giant Gram 2000 has a slight learning curve as it's control scheme is a little different than anything I was previously used to. But once you've got it, you'll be hitting your opponents with 10 different kinds of Ace Crushers. As for Toukon Retsuden 4... I've given it so many tries over the years but can't get into it. All the reviews on places like GameFAQs are like "10/10 BEST WRESTLING GAME EVER!" so surely the problem must be me... but no. It's just a very slow game using the SD engine, which is an oxymoron to me. I suppose I'm just not the target audience.

Royal Rumble disappointed me back in the day, because I've spent more hours playing the SD games then any other activity in my life. Bought a GameShark and spent hours typing in long codes to unlock the hidden legends heads, play Buried Alive matches, everything. I wanted Royal Rumble to be SD2 with better graphics, more features... but it was just an arcade game. Nowadays I fully appreciate it for what it is and still pop it in once in a while. Hell, it better fits the DC game library the way it is, anyway - DC's the ultimate console for fun, accurate arcade ports. (it's my favorite console) I eventually got the WWE game of my dreams with Here Comes the Pain (with Shut Your Mouth being a close 2nd). Sadly it was downhill from there.... after HCTP came SvR, which was the first time I ever saw a sequel have less features than its predecessor.

I've read his NESDev threads before, and am well-aware he can't seem to post without multiple edits and "PS" "PPS" addendums. But 21 times, holy shit. Never noticed they list the number of edits there. Thank goodness there's a narrow edit window here and it's not possible to delete one's own posts, or it'd be an even bigger mess.

Has this all been some sort of meta- social commentary, to remind us that we're all mortal beings with a fixed amount of time? Is he showing us the contrast of what 1-month worth of progress looks like when you shut up and actually work on stuff, vs. the giant portfolio of nothing you're left with if all that time is spent aggressively spamming forums?
