if there are copies out there I'd like to try and find one :)

It looks like I found one eBay - it does say indeed say "Printed in UK" and "Made in UK". I'd still like to find out if it was indeed printed by Telegames or Epyx.

It looks exactly the same as the regular version, except on the back instead of saying "Printed in USA" and "Made in China" it says "Printed in UK" and "Made in UK" since Telegames is a UK company.

Interesting, where did you hear about that version? It seems odd to me that Telegames UK would have ever been involved with a variant of that particular game (apart from distribution). It also seems strange that they would go to the trouble of printing boxes with such a minor change. I'm a UK based collector, and if there are copies out there I'd like to try and find one :)

Now I believe California Games did have a large box release in Japan and there is a Telegames box variation for California Games, but I am not worried about either of those.

The Japanese version does have a bigger box, but it's a different size and design than the other big box games. I've never seen or heard about a Telegames box variant of California Games. I think I have most of the variants, and I'd say the small box full picture versions are the least common.

There's also a Japanese version of Klax in the small box size with different artwork on the front.

I picked up a complete and supposedly new copy of Fidelity Chess Challenge last year from a seller on ebay and noticed it doesn't have the Fuji logo on the back of the cart. It was the first Telegames Lynx game I had purchased, so I thought nothing of it, but then, a few months later, my brother showed me his copy of the cart (which he's had since the early 90s when the Lynx was new), and it does have the Fuji on the cartridge.

Does this mean mine is a fake? I never really thought Lynx stuff was valuable enough to warrant bootlegging.

My copy doesn't have a logo either, and neither does my original Desert Strike which was purchased from Telegames. As PFG 9000 said, it's probably more to do with Telegames and their lack of consistency/quality vs a fake copy. Although fake lynx games do exist, they are pretty rare and tend to be of the harder to find, expensive games.

Speaking of hard to find, anyone have a spare Hard Drivin' box? It's one of like, 5 games I have that I purchased used, and sadly, there is a giant 'USED' sticker on the front, covering most of the artwork.

Good condition boxed copies of Hard Drivin seem to be difficult to find, it took me a while to find one.

In case you wasn't aware there are reissues of Super Off Road, Desert Strike, and Double Dragon (released in 2018). It's hard to find the originals vs the reissues (the main difference is the cart labels), and it's even harder to find original glossy manuals for those 3 since Telegames UK started selling cheap photocopied versions once they ran out.

If you are able to fine loose copies or copies with poor condition boxes of any of those you could always ask Telegames UK if you could purchase "new" empty boxes for them.

A very different case might be made for games whose original run was already in curved lip carts, like Double Dragon, Deser Strike and Super Off Road. For Double Dragon, for instance, original run curved lip carts will probably remain the most valuable ones for collectors, being Atari sanctioned products that even sported the Fuji logo in their backs. The original labels in those carts didn't look as good as the new ones, but they were decent professional-looking labels. I'd say for the specific set of games, original run curved lip carts will remain the most valued ones by collectors, new curved lip will be second best and PCB cart versions of these games will be the least desirable ones.

I would imagine the original releases would remain the most valued for the reasons stated - plus the fact that they also came with properly printed glossy manuals vs cheap photocopies. But you would think there would be far fewer of these newer versions available - even if more are created in the future.

  7. If buying from Telegames just be aware that you probably won't get a curved lip version, and the manual might be a photocopy of the original. Also, the site isn't always accurate when it comes to stock status. Better to email first and check what you will get, and when.

  8. I have bought this game from Telegames UK..... Paid for it over 2 weeks ago and still nothing in the post.. Is this company legit?

I also ordered a copy a few weeks ago along with some other games as the site said it was in stock, but when the other games arrived there was a note saying Krazy Ace would follow "asap".

Since then, the listing for Krazy Ace has changed from "in stock" to "pre-order". I would suggest emailing them and asking for a refund (if you don't want to wait). I've only ever had positive experiences with Telegames, but the website doesn't always accurately reflect what is and isn't available.
