      Apparently it's for security, since FTP isn't encrypted. I can make my own security decisions, Mozilla, thank you very much. (There are encrypted versions of FTP; not sure if they're dropping those.)

      FTPS was never, to my knowledge, supported in any web browser.

      Mostly it is for convenience I want ftp support in the browser. If a website has a ftp link, I want to click on it and get the file served immediately. I suppose Filezilla and others might support the URI scheme for ftp links so you could copy and paste it into the program for the same functionality, but the last thing I want is to start splitting a link into server name, then search path (or even worse - navigate myself to where the file supposedly is located) and actual file name.
