The 5200 joystick worked well on many games including Defender which I recorded a score of 739,000 (easy) using these same controllers. 57,000 on Pacman. I'm not sure where this "urban myth" concerning the controllers started. Yes, they weren't self-centering and eventually they wore down from use, but were better than other systems controllers of the time. They felt better and more comfortable in your hands plus the options to Start, Pause and Reset on the keypad. When the buttons wouldn't work we took the controller apart and used a pencil eraser on the circuit traces. Or we just bought a new controller. Now there are many controller options out there to enjoy the 5200 with. Never had this problem of the controllers suck so therefore the system sucks.... I received the 5200 on Christmas '82 and it's been my favorite system since then! BTW I did vote for Defender! The best arcade to home translation BITD. Pacman would be a close second in the voting.

So I have 554 posts in 21 years on here! Definitely a lurker!! But I enjoy reading about new releases and the process it takes to make these games. Just look at the 7800 scene and all the new games being released by these amazing Programmers!

I agree with Zonie 100%. Never paid attention to the scanner as there was always too much going on in the game plus hitting the buttons at the right moment. 8/83 and I got 739,000 on the 5200 version which I couldnt come close to now lol.

I would just buy Intellidiscs for the box! Amazing artwork and the game is very addicting. Great game Ryan and thanks for getting it released Al! New Years love for the 5200 ??
