I got mine built, but I have yet to get it to boot up. There seems to be some issue with it. Shift838 and I were troubleshooting it, but you can only get so far with a logic probe and multimeter.
So my board is with shift838 now. Maybe he can work his magic on it and figure out what's going on with it. Time will tell...
It's going to need an extender or you can use the 90 degree from a 4A.
That was quite a surprise when it was brought to my attention. How do you miss something like? That GROM port is a pretty important part of the 99.
The provided case stl files from the GitHub.
The case isn’t bad, but could use some refinement.
1. The stand-offs on the bottom of the case need to be taller so the rear facing I/O port can be used. Right now is at the same level as the bottom of the opening. Thus, plugging in the speech synthesizer or the flex cable interface is impossible.
2. No opening in the top of the case to plug in cartridges.
3. The top case is too tall to plug in cartridges. It could be about half its height. This may be due to the keyboard being integrated into the top case half.
4. The keyboard is off center. It would just be more pleasing on the eyes and drive my OCD crazy looking at an off center keyboard.
Yeah, I really don’t like the screw terminal connector.
i have two ideas in mind:
1. A physical 4-pin connector, maybe a moles type thing
2. like the 4a, have a cable and plug that will plug into the power supply.
More work, waiting on 1k resistors and need some capacitors! Oh, I gotta get a power supply on order. Looks like one of the Meanwell power supplies outputs exactly what this board needs.
