My favorite game is "Pester @PeteE" ... Oh! You meant TI game; I'd have to say Flying Shark.

What is the Holy Grail of the TI99 4/A World?
jrhodes replied to Mtlatc's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
I'll just say that if Retro Games LTD or some such other company made "THE99 mini" (reference to the THEC64 by Retro Games LTD) that included all first party TI titles and the ability to add new software via USB, i'd jump on it. -

What is the Holy Grail of the TI99 4/A World?
jrhodes replied to Mtlatc's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
There were TI99's that were "re-branded" and used in schools. The name eludes me though. Some one here has to know, I'm sure. -
Most keyboards have a empty space between ESC and F1. I'd affix it to keyboard in that spot

You could try to load them from tape, save back to disk, then transfer disk to pc?

Other than that "feature" 😉 this looks pretty good 👍

Fair warning: I did not read the entire thread before asking this. Yes, i agree a library of common code snippets for TidBit would be very welcome.

@Asmusr, I'm all for converting or porting zx speccy games to get them on the ti. I kind of like the speccys graphics. Although, i have to admit that Flying Shark does look 10x better on the ti with the enhanced graphics.

Looking for a old article, making TI BASIC more like Extended Basic
jrhodes replied to jrhodes's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
I want a copy of the article, or for you to tell me where i can find it. Thank you for that! I never would have thought of appending characters to the start of the string to represent position, and i'm pretty certain that's not what was going on in the article in question. -
I'm looking for a old article, i think it was in one of the user group newsletters, but may have been a magazine. It had a GOSUB routine that mimicked DISPLAY AT functionality in TI BASIC. You set a couple of variables to the row and column you want, and then GOSUB to this bit of code, and it is suppose to display the string at those coordinates, if i remember correctly. Please don't just tell me to use XB/RXB etc. I know this is a real article and i want to find it.

I have just discovered a repository of TI99 software put online by Manolis Kiagias on GitHub: https://github.com/sonic2000gr/TI99 It looks to sadly be abandoned quite some time ago, as he speaks of a "side b", but the downloaded zip file of the repository only has "side a". I hope this is useful to some of you🙂.

The new NATIVE_TEXT_DIRS option sounded interesting to me, so i removed my TIPI 2.40 sd card and swapped it out for my 3.9 card. (yes i am running two different TIPI installs, 1 per card. I keep the 3.x card up to date and play with from time to time, but mostly i just stick to the 2.40 card) I did not see any new update from 3.9 to 3.10, so i tried FCTN+U... "Upgrade running..." followed by "Upgrade complete", and i'm still on 3.9 I can SSH in from my computer via "ssh -l tipi 192.168.0.7" , but CALL TIPI("TIPI.NET.TELNET") and trying to connect to 192.168.0.7 port 23 , i only get "CONNECTED" and a solid white cursor, it won't take any ti994a keyboard input, and disconnects a few moments later. TIPI WebUI is working. "less tipi.config" via SSH session shows that the line "NATIVE_TEXT_DIRS=" is not set to anything. I can confirm the Pi's internet connection is working, as i successfully logged in via SSH and installed "links" the linux command line www browser, and successfully loaded www.google.com . So, what do i need to do to update my 3.9 install to 3.10?

! FlashROM 99 & FinalGROM 99 - Repository
jrhodes replied to arcadeshopper's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Are you SURE you are using a fat32 (not fat16/ntfs/etc) sd card? If you could, please make sure that the card is formatted properly, and place one single (one) .bin file on the root of the sd card. As the only choice possible, i believe the finalgrom should automatically boot it (if there is more then one choice of cartridge, the selection menu should be displayed) .bin files are definitely supposed to be not zipped on the sd card. I know you say you have tried different cards, but what sizes/brands exactly? Personally, i find the smaller capacity cards work best with my finalgrom (256mb - 1gig sandisk). If all else fails, please follow this link to @arcadeshopper's store, where you can get a preloaded sd card for the finalgrom: https://www.arcadeshopper.com/wp/store/#!/FinalGROM99-SDcard-preloaded/p/97902133/category=24438345- 1,479 replies
