  1. Sadly I think there's so much new stuff coming out continually, I can no longer have it all
  2. When typing, use abbreviations for the commands. ? instead of PRINT, "GO." instead of GOTO, etc.
  3. No more posts until 12/31/2023 @ 23:59:59 the earliest! BTW - never forget!
  4. No debate - it sucks But - to make it as annoying as possible, play it full volume through a Speaker Hat. You will have all he Atari vibes anyone could possibly want (unless Atari brands a magic wand (tm)).
  5. The problem is, I not only updated my hardware, but also downgraded from Windows 10 to 11. So two major changes which is not helpful for narrowing this down.
  6. Yes - just make sure to get the polarity correct. Even though it's a 5 pin DIN, there will only be two wires coming out, ground and positive which go to the new power supply.
  7. So - look dead center of that picture. You will see a horizontal band, with dark line in the center, followed by a bright line, then the start of another dark band. That is the classic VBLANK signal these machines generate. Back in the ancient days when these machines were new, CRTs had a vertical hold knob and if you misadjusted it and rolled the picture, you would see that.
  8. Antenna and cable are the same for the VHF band (channels 2-13). That's why non cable ready TVs back in the day needed the external tuner box to get anything channel 14 and above. I still contend that the picture looks like the computer is trying to make video but is being overvolted and that is messing with the sync.
  9. Make sure you are writing to the correct channel. It's been too long - I don't remember if it was left channel = data, right channel = audio (music could b played back while loading, States & Capitals for example did this). Given that you have just the data file, I would recommend outputting the audio in MONO, therefore writing it to BOTH channels. This way it doesn't matter which is the correct one.
  10. I've started getting that error too. Not sure if it's a Windows 11 issue or not. My only initial guess is it could be an error when trying to fill the dropdown which lets you choose the number of threads? I have a much newer machine (i9-12900K 3.20 GHz), 60 16 cores but 24 logical processors. Might be trying to add a value to the dropdown for threads that is too high or something?
  11. Just add an OMG R@RE !!!!!! and you'd have a good Ebay title for pumping those views!
  12. Oh come on now. Any time I have noticed, that "all 100 people I have been around think I am an asshole", it's obviously those 100 people with a problem, not me!
  13. This is easy to do with CA65/LD65 and a custom linker script: you need to define memory areas for each 1k block, and then add (at least) two segments to each memory area, one with the font and another one with the code. That's fantastic!
  14. Quoting because that's some of the nicest SMD soldering I have seen! I assume that isn't done by hand?
  15. I mentioned this earlier. And I will bet double down, after seeing this, that he is frying (or has already ruined) the system because of it. I begged, PLEASE CHECK THE VOLTAGE before turning on the machine.
  16. No way man - I set that bitch on highest priority, max number of threads, max solutions, and let her rip for as long as it takes! If my machine is not screaming for mercy, I am not using it properly!
  17. Come on fellas. We're talking about upgrading 1970's era machines to 1MB. If you can't manage 4 wires to solder, you won't be using a 1970s machine at all, let alone one with 1MB of RAM! We've gotta stop this bullshit of "everyone needs a participation trophy". Sometimes, there is a minimum barrier for entry. (But I'll be called any numbers of boomer, get off my lawn, exclusionist, etc.)
  18. Only of the elevator MUZAK is synth-wave! Am I right?
  19. Fair enough. I am a realist, not a pessimist. So I hope you are correct, but I fear the opposite.
  20. I was terrified at Golden Shower! What's next? A lemon party?
  21. Congratulations for being the first person to be kicked from this thread. This is what I fear will be all too common. It's like when a small local pub has been a really cool hangout for 20 years. Then all of a sudden, some TikTok wanker makes a viral post, and all of the sudden, the floodgates open. Be prepared for this on EPIC levels. Also - I'm ready to be called an "old man yelling at clouds, a boomer, etc." Mark your calendar, and get back with me in a few years.
  22. No - it was just because he is new to forums, and couldn't figure out the UI here. So confusing having everything organized by System, Category, and Thread.
  23. Awesome stuff! The MIDI hardware looks incredible. Speaking of collaborations between you and candle, can we get an ETA on when the Simple Stereo 4 will be available?
  24. Also - what power supply are you using? That looks suspiciously like a bad ingot style power supply over-volting. I would not turn the machine on again until you can verify the power supply is outputting 5VDC. They are regulated, so you should definitely not see anything over 5.2VDC and there should be no AC ripple / noise on the output.
