  1. Hi Anthony,

Thanks a lot for sharing the info here, once again you are faster than me to spread the news, thanks a lot for your help! :)

So yes, for everyone who was waiting for a MVS version of Yo-Yo Shuriken, it's now available for sale directly from JapanGameOnline:

    http://www.japangameonline.com/index.php?id_product=717&controller=product&id_lang=1

The package contains a MVS cartridge, a MVS Shockbox (snaplock case) with reversible insert (one side US cover, the other side Japanese cover) and manual.

Since I haven't found a topic about Minigun Miner (is there?), I decided to post my comments here.

First, I really like the game concept. It is unique, challenging and, last not least, has well done gravity! :) Most suggestions (e.g. being able to look down a little bit further) were already made during the stream, but I have two more:

Currently the gameplay is IMO too methodical, because the player has unlimited time to make progress. This results into very slow gameplay overall. So IMO there should be an element which forces the player to hurry. At least a bit. Which could be a bullet limit (with refills to be collected further down) or e.g. something deadly which slowly grows from above. Time based increasing difficulty would work too. Or you could base the difficulty on the number of blocks shot, which encourages the player to create only a minimal path down. Etc.

My last suggestion would also address the problem, that the difficulty seems to ramp up very slowly or not at all. But of course there are many alternatives.

@drludos hasn't made a topic on the AA Forum for the game yet, but he said once he progresses with the development some more he'll post it here. I tagged him so he should see your comments about the game now.

It would be nice to have a ticking clock of some sort, either limited bullets (with more to pick up) or timed levels but I find it an a really challenging game at the moment so I'm not sure how that would best be implemented. I can't say whether the difficulty ramps up or not as I'm not yet able to make it far enough to tell, I'm assuming it doesn't get harder at this point in the development.

    - James

Thanks a lot to both of you for your feedback and suggestions, it's very much appreciated! :)

As I said, this is a very "work-in-progress" game, I still have some ideas to add things to the game. I'll try to make a dedicated post on AA forum for the game when I'll resume working on it (probably after the PRGE), but seeing playing and giving new ideas is a great motivation :).

  3. Thanks for the picture, it's nice to see all these new games coming for the console!

I'm very impressed by the graphical quality of this 6 upcoming titles - they do look like professional arcade games from the 90's ! :)

2024 is going to be a great year for the Neo-Geo!

Is there an MVS release of this also or on the way? I stopped playing on my AES years ago and switched to an Omega.

Yes, as Anthony mentioned above, the MVS version is also currently in the work. Hopefully, it should be available by the end of 2023 :).

I'll post here when it's available - it'll be manufactured, published and sold by JapanGameOnline, like the AES release.

Thanks again everyone for your interest and support! :)

  5. Hi everyone!

I'm very happy (and a bit proud too ;)) to announce that my Neo-Geo  game Yo-Yo Shuriken is now available in physical release for the home Neo Geo AES console!

This physical release is made a reality thanks to Neo Geo specialist JapanGameOnline @japangameonline who is manufacturing, publishing and selling the game. This gorgeous release comes with a Snaplock box (hard case), a newly manufactured AES cartridge and a manual. It's available in both US style and Japanese style variants, so it should blend nicely in the rest of your AES collection! :)

Here is a photo of the US version, available from here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/235200451697

    YoYo_AES_US_1.thumb.jpg.f093bcf764c42e94bd4862fb56ae5ddc.jpg

And here is the Japanese one, available from here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/325821703500

    YoYo_AES_JP_1.thumb.jpg.93eb9d3049ad948d674c7c637026960a.jpg

Due to the difficulties and high costs of manufacturing new complete-in-box AES games today, this will be a limited release. Each copy is numbered, and we'll make a maximum of 50 units in total (US and Japanese versions combined, we could only manufacture 50 cartridges).

And of course, if you buy the Neo-Geo AES physical release, you'll also receive the ROM versions for free (CD, AES and MVS)!

    I hope you'll enjoy them!

    Hi guys,

Today I received @drludos game Yo-Yo Shuriken this afternoon in the mail. What a fun game this really is and so glad that the kind sir was able to make his dream come true and his game available over to the Neo-Geo AES. I was playing this for over 6 hours and glad to invest in this from him. Thank you so much Dr. This really made my day and can't wait to play more of your future titles that will be offered for the Neo-Geo.

I also like to say a big thank you to @japangameonline for offering Yo-Yo Shuriken to be published and sold to the public by PM, Ebay page, and off their website. I really appreciate you on accepting my request on shipping No.50 of 50 of the game and looking forward on repeated business. You will always have my support for sure.

I personally like to contribute on helping my fellow AtariAge members on their projects (especially Neo-Geo) So when SlidellMan, ColecoGamer, Jag_Mag, Steril707, and the rest in the community have their upcoming titles being planned for the Neo-Geo, I'll be glad to do the same like I done for Dr.Ludos.

Thank you again fellas. This made my day.  :)

Thanks a lot for your overall support, and I'm glad you're enjoying the game!

I think you're one of the first, if not the first, player to have a physical copy of the game in hand :)!

Thanks also to everyone who support this project :)!

A MVS version of the game is indeed in the work, hopefully by the end of 2023. While the release of the cartridge version was faster than expected thanks to the wonderful work of @japangameonline, sadly the Neo-Geo CD version of the game is a bit delayed (it's published by another publisher, Cote Gamers). This one should be available by the end of October 2023 if no more manufacturing delay happen!

We appreciate you doing this for us drludos. I would love to by the physical release for it on the Neo Geo CD in May. Nice price. $40.03. That's very reasonable. I'm sold on it.  :)

I didn't realize you're an AtariAge member. We appreciate you stopping by to share this with us  Thank you for your hard work.

Do you have any more Neo Geo titles plan for the public to play after Yo-Yo Shuriken bro? :)

    Anthony...

    Hi Anthony!

I'm thanking you in return for this wonderful mega thread, and for your support regarding my game!

And yes, I do plan to keep working on Neo-Geo games and I really love the platform (both AES and MVS). Although as I'm only an hobbyist working in his spare time, it won't be ready "soon" ;).

  9. Hi Everyone,

I've made a dedicated post, but I thought I'd also share the news here.
Today, I'm pleased to share the release of my game Yo-Yo Shuriken on Neo-Geo MVS, AES and CD formats.

The game is a single-screen shooter with a unique twist:  you are using a single shuriken that can be thrown, then recalled so you can hit enemies from the front and/or from behind. The game is even more fun with a friend, with a cooperative-competitive 2 players mode.

You can get the game ROMS (MAME, ISO, NeoSD...) from here:
    https://drludos.itch.io/yo-yo-shuriken-neo-geo

The game is also available in physical format for Neo-Geo CD from here (you'll receive the AES, MVS and CD ROMs for free when buying the physical release): https://cotegamers.com/shop/en/accueil/153-yoyo-shuriken.html

And of course, patrons of the "free games" tier will also receive this game for free over Patreon, as usual:

Last but not least, here is the game running on my trusty old AES:

I hope you'll enjoy it, and feel free to ask me any question! 🙂

  16.   Hi Everyone,

You might remember my game GB Corp., an idle management game that rewards you for playing it on several Game Boy models (DMG, GBP, GBC, SGB, GBA...). A prototype version of this game was released last year for free as a ROM file.

Today I'm happy to announce that a complete version of the game (with new features) is available as a physical release on KickStarter:

As usual, you can get the game as a loose cartridge or with a CIB package (box + manual). But the reason we are running a Kickstarter is to make 2 other editions of the game a reality, with unique items:

    - A Deluxe Edition that will contains 2 copies of the game, a link cable (working with all GB models) and many goodies inside a "big box". Indeed, the game now supports 2 Players over link cable, so you can have 2 different Game Boy models working together in the game

    - An Exclusive Edition, that contains the Deluxe Edition + a unique set of miniature furniture to show off your Game Boy collection. You'll get an office chair and a desk to display any Game Boy model on your shelf (compatible with DMG, GBP and GBC). You'll also get a "Cartridge Filing Cabinet" so you can show off some of your game cartridges alongside the console!

    GbCorp_editions.thumb.png.869d6eca5c6a6e876b644adc5b817b88.png

We put a lot of work and passion into this physical release, so we hope you'll enjoy it! And if you do, please pre-order the game over Kickstarter to make it a reality:

  17. Hi everyone!

Today, I'm happy to share with you the physical release of two brand new games for the SEGA Master System, one of them being made by myself! Both are published by Cote Gamers, and available right now from their online shop: https://cotegamers.com/shop/en/41-master-system

    Here are the two games:

Dangerous Demolition by Dr. Ludos (me :p)

    1140895006_DangerousDemolitionSegaMasterSystembox.thumb.png.18dbfaff7459a3d6c9fe7f279077304e.png

Dangerous Demolition is a simple but challenging arcade / action game. It's a mix between breakout and a shooter: the balls help you destroy bricks walls, but they can also kill you! Hopefully, you can shoot them to guide them in the right direction.

You can buy the game here: https://cotegamers.com/shop/en/accueil/124-dangerous-demolition.html

    Mecha-8 by Nanochess

    1697889033_Mecha-8SegaMasterSystembox.thumb.png.59fb846f03301a48753698ee8636dade.png

Mecha-8 is a Shooter by the famous Oscar Toledo Guttierez. Will you save your planet? At the controls of your mecha go through 6 levels of action and send the enemy back to where he came from.

You can buy the game here: https://cotegamers.com/shop/en/accueil/125-mecha-8.html

    Exclusive Combo bonus

If you order both games at the same time, you'll save on shipping cost (it'll cost the same as buying one game), and you'll get some unique bonus in the package:

  18. Hi everyone!

Some of you might remember my Game Boy titles "Sheep It Up!" (2017) and "DMG Deals Damage" (2019 - 30 years GB anniversary game) that were released a few years ago. The game were available as free ROM (and they still are!) and also a physical "cartridge only" edition from Catskull Games. Sadly, Catskull ceased its game publishing activities in January 2022. Since then, I've been working with another publisher, Yastuna Games, to have the games available again in physical format. And what took us so long? Well, we designed beautiful boxes and manual to make the game available in fully boxed editions for the first time!

    DMGDealsDamage-SheepItUp_boxed.jpg.9801cccd9631c468a8df48576854906e.jpg

Of course, the games are still available as "cartridge only" edition if you prefer. And last but not least, if someone who got the previous "cartridge only" edition wants to upgrade it, we are also selling the package (box + manual) separately too! :)

And if you wish to try the game ROMs, you can get there from here:

I hope you'll enjoy this new release, and feel free to ask me if you have any questions!

  19. Cool to see that the AtariGamer Jam/Contest is becoming an annual event! :)

I really love Karri's idea with at "starting tileset" as common theme. For one, it'll speed up development for people who are more comfortable with coding than drawing graphics (like me :p). But it'll also be very cool for a compilation cart to see many games with the same assets used in very different types of gameplay! So that'd be a cool idea for next year event maybe ;).

For this year, I don't think I'll have enough free time to make something in the jam duration, but I'm looking forward the theme anyway! :)

  20. Hi!

First of all, I'd like to thank @SainT for such a great hardware piece! It's wonderful to play games, but also to test your own homebrew projects in a very easy and quick way :).

So, I'd like to suggest a feature request that should be helpful for homebrew game developers, and some players too:

    - Would it be possible to force the console in 50hz or 60hz mode before launching a ROM on the GameDrive?

If I'm correct, it's possible to change the console video mode (50hz or 60hz) from software, and regardless of the console model being NTSC or PAL, as @Zerosquare explained in this forum: https://www.jagware.org/index.php?/topic/1012-forcing-60-hz-mode-on-pal-jaguars/

If it's possible, I see two uses cases for this:

    - Allowing players with a PAL console to finally enjoy games in 60hz mode without having to cut open their console and modify the hardware to make it 50hz/60hz compatible

    - Helping homebrew developers to test their game both on PAL and NTSC settings even if they have only one unmodified Jaguar at home (so NTSC developers can test if their games run fine on PAL, and vice-versa).

I don't know if this would be possible, but if it is, I think several people would enjoy such a feature (at least, I know I'll do :)).
