  1. They could of released both SMB2J and SMB2USA in North America, but just called the Japanese version "Super Mario Plus" or something like that and say its for the people who mastered the first game. I own the disk system version of SMB2J, and its as hard as people say it is. But there are other games that came out during that time which were way harder (Ghost and Goblins, Megaman, Legend of Zelda and Punchout).
  2. Finally got real internet (I've been using a mobile hotspot), it's like I've been liberated from a 120p prison.

  3. Rarest things I have are probably my vectrex and my Sharp Twin Famicom. (These are more uncommon than rare, but I don't care)
  4. Got a Switch for my birthday and I was wondering if there's anything I need to know about caring for the system.
  5. I go by the "two 3s" rule. 3 game systems 3 games for each system If you qualify for both, then you have a collection.
  6. I don't really eat food when I play games (I usually drink soda), but when I get hungry I look for something salty (e.g. Pretzel's and pork rinds).
  7. That game room is so cool I almost got hypothermia just looking at it!
  8. God I love the Twin Famicom.

    1. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

      Hell Yeah!!

I have 2 actually, both red, both have new drive belts, one has a new cartridge slot, and both have longer cables for the built in gamepads.

Mine is black, I think everything is original. Pretty sturdy for being 30+ years old and going across the pacific.

  9. I'm always gonna have a CRT on me (I have like 5 in my attic). Have you ever tried to play a rf system on a flat screen? If you have, you'll know why I have a CRT.
  10. Super Mario Bros took me two years to beat, yet it seems like everyone can beat that game in under an hour.
  11. Probably got a limited to nationwide release, doubt it went out of Japan. I feel like this is the doremon effect (when a company witch hunts the original version of an idea. E.g. Doremon 73 (look it up, it's pretty interesting if you're into lost media)).
  12. There is (or at least was) a cabinet for sale on yahoo Japan but it looked like this: However there is a "remake" which came out in 1987 that is a punchout clone, so the 1976 version probably was released to some degree. Edit: here's a screenshot of the game
  13. An easter egg should be something that feels rewarding when you find it, so it should be well hidden and it should be almost a rumor. I would never fully reveal an easter egg, I would leave cryptic hints every now and then, and people can put two and two together. Like Shawn said, easter eggs can be anything you want it to be. From a cheeky reference to an unused music track, anything can be an easter egg. Just my opinion.
  14. What happened to Gamer Grub? It seems like it one day existed and then it just disappeared.

    1. thanatos

      thanatos

Was that the weird snack stuff?  I think I bought a couple of those at Micro Center like years ago.  Wasn't too bad.

    2. The Mr. Video

      The Mr. Video

I only knew about Gamer Grub from the video Classic Game Room did about it. Never tried it though.

  15. My GBA SP was behind my bed for months (maybe longer) and when I found it was fully charged. Also charged my DS and it has at least a weeks worth if battery life. Nintendo must put cocaine in their batteries.
  16. For me it was the PS1/Saturn/N64 era. It was the first time arcade game ports looked almost 1:1 with the real thing.(probably because some consoles used the same internals as the arcade cabinet) Some game franchises also got their start on these systems (Grand Theft Auto, Crash Bandicoot, Quake (some of these started on PC but their first console ports were on these systems)). These systems were also some if the first systems to have online play (Sega Net Link and Randnet).
  17. Yes I did read the thread. By dumping the game I meant dumping the circuits. You can use something like DICE (Discrete Integrated Circuit Emulator) to play a game like this. I should of been more clear.
  18. We gotta find a working cabinet before we can dump it.
  19. The game is actually really rare, like Red Sea Crossing kind of rare. But its not $90,000 rare. The ROM was released sometime ago so there's no reason to buy it just to play it and the game sucks on top of that. Probably gonna be on eBay for a long time.
  20. They both look pretty good, but I gotta go with white.
  21. I'm not even going to think about buying one, I'll laugh from the sidelines when people get upset their streaming system doesn't work after 5 years.
  22. I agree on that, if it had Genesis and Sega CD compatibility it would probably sell better.
  23. I don't think Sega wanted to do that considering Sega of Japan wanted to ditch the 32X, it would have been a waste of money to implement.
