Mission 16, i made it through the seegson sec. group and made a wrong turn,, accidentally taking the elevator down to the lobby. this is where crap got bad. as usual, the loading screen loaded...and stayed black even as the alien (who was stuck at the entrance for some reason, bumrushed and killed me.
i got one achievement and i am deleting this game. i simply cannot take the buggy mess anymore
Today is the start of my Novice run. I will be attempting the One shot achievement. The Torrens looks almost exactly like the Nostromo. it's clear the Dev team did
their homework. Even the Med Bay is stunning. Voice acting is well done as well. Reminds me of the Pillar of Autumn from Halo. It seems that certain parts of the
ship are still under repairs. In B01, part of the wall is Ripped off, the wires still hanging loose like a puppet's strings. Heading to the Bridge. Taylor appears to be a
Lawyer for WY, an unexpected Surprise. The lighting in the Kitchen conveys a sense of peace...until Verlaine pipes in that I need to go to the bridge. This first part is
altogether silent, save for the ambient noise of running systems.
Now here is a surprise: a Commodore PET computer! sadly, the keys are (mostly) blank save for the 2nd,6th, 9th and 12th top keys.
the Keyboard is oddly shaped, unlike a modern one. it resembles 2001: A space odyssey's HAL 9000 AI then a true PC. i could be wrong. after all, keyboards differ by region.
The lights repeat a pattern:4,10,5 to infinity. a nice touch. no effect on game-play, but expected considering the Source Material
LM-LINK, could that be the makers?
Personal notes regarding the Nostromo incident (reprinted here for reference):
To N. Taylor RE: Nostromo incident. Weyland-Yutani file #DS9398476
Hey Taylor, I got your case request. It may take me a while to dig out the files and the incident before my time at the company, so i'm a bit fuzzy on details
In 2122, the Weyland-Yutani cargo vessel the USCSS Nostromo went missing. No trace was found of its cargo or crew. Apart from a new science officer, the rest
of the crew had worked together, seven in all:
Brett- Engineer Technician Ash- Science Officer Parker- Chief Engineer Dallas-Captain Lambert- Navigation Officer Ripley- Warrant Officer Kane (Or is it Cain?) - Executive Officer
(of course this is common knowledge throughout the fandom but this recording is for new players)
Weyland Yutani lost a lot of money from it, it's a bit of a black mark in the history. Get the impression they don't like to mention it (Gee, i wonder why, here's a hint, it's Jet black and lethal) . anyway, i'll try and find the files later, clarify some of the points If you want, (the terminal forgot a comma) i can help you go through them? Maybe some of your luck will rub off on me I hear upstairs have (or has) their eyes on you for something big.
Saul
Verlaine sends us out to the obvious death trap of outer space and predictably, Taylor gets injured. (For those that have the DLC, you know who started this
mess, for those without, Ricardo did it, the explosives destroyed the dry dock bay in an attempt to kill "It"
After watching the Xeno make it's creepy as hell entry into the station through an upper vent, i went back to the ST lobby and watched as a group of paranoid people died in agony. quite amusing.
i then went down to comms control. I see now how we can beat skynet. Every android is apparently equipped with a 6507 processor and walks as if in sludge.
Contacted samuels and made my way to San Cristobal.
Inside was a drug addicted kook named Kuhlman who needed "Help", with getting meds. Various logs throughout the area point to missing perscriptions and his
many adventures in the hospital dispensary. No one should need that much oxy! anyway, i got the card and had a rough time doing so because he forgot to mention
the creature being down there with me. i was stuck in the vent for 10 minutes, waiting. then something started quacking (dead serious) and the xeno opened the
door to investigate. I went back into the main room and stared at the man who had attempted to kill me. along the way, i took the pipe bomb schematic to fry the
monster. For his treachery, he was killed by the monster. Good.
Went down to San Cristobal's lower floors and got the meds for taylor. A woman was on the table, her rib cage blown open like a meat sausage.
The monster did not pop down as usual, leaving me to (carefully) find the Evacuation controls and escape. Beforehand, i had snagged the Molotov Schematic
and had prepped it in case of emergency. Feeling kinky, i decided to bait the monster down with a gunshot. It appeared and i set it's skin on fire.
I can imagine the conversation afterwards went like this:
Alien 1: IT BURNS!!
Alien 2: Who did this? was it her?
Alien 1: YES! OH GOD!
(cue Alien 2 popping out for the cut scene and dying offscreen)
at least that's how i figured it.
anyway, i reset the transit control, and am now about to Speak with Marlow about the flight recorder.
(Sorry for the gaps but it's hard playing and updating the blog when you're on a console)
feeling anxious
I finished Marlowe's walking simulator, managed to get KG348 back to full power, managed to kill the Xeno and after what seemed like a long unneeded shooting gallery (going for Mercy or Prudence so no humans), i am in the Apollo core. Lots of working Joe's (especially the fire resistant and EMP resistant ones) no Pipe-bombs, one Molotov, and my Xbox one controller is nearly dead (currently charging). Not dead yet
managed, finally, to get the Watch your step achievement for the hive. unfortunately, my one shot run is ended, because i died to facehugger. crap.
the rest of the game is too long. they should've shortened it. fans will already be decrying me as a loser but this game is already at the end for me. the rest is just padding
I finally got the Survivor achievement yesterday. Absolute Murder, yet so rewarding. I have also posted an LP of Doom 2 and am working on TNT/ Plutonia.
My seething hatred of Madden has finally boiled over and i am trading in 25. Screw EA, Screw the NFL, I'm going back to Blitz
finally got One Shot. now i just need the rest of the ID tags and that's it. I think the credits music is appropriate, but should be the title theme. This game is Phenomenal, a true work of art! honestly, the more i play, the more i become engrossed. From graphics to sound, to little niche things like the PET being used as a terminal, to the particle effects in space are nothing short of amazing. It's a shame that CA has disbanded because we need a sequel to this game Pronto.
It took me this long to see it.
When you think of it, the Crisis of Sevastopol boils down to Chaos Theory. No one knew about the Alien on board and the Marshals kept a lid on it, even as more people began to die. You never see them, but you hear about children, some as young as three, being caught in the middle of the chaos. I guess Sinclair was right, They did fuck up. They fucked up so bad that it got Samuels killed as well as taylor, people who did not deserve it, People that were still alive when the station caught fire, clutching their wives and sons, begging to god for help.
I have to say this: I am overly Critical of Ripley for a damned good reason. She boards the station, and despite various red flags and an appearance by the Xenomorph, Still heads further into the station. This causes the deaths of Taylor,Samuels, Ricardo, Waits and even the people you helped in mission 10. And yet, she never decides to leave, never figures "I think we should head back and inform the marines" or even considers hauling ass. She may be a good protagonist, but she is an AWFUL judge of Character. i am not saying that she is not well developed, but she is somewhat dim and as a result, not very bright (Heading into the nest and nearly dying for example) and saves no one except herself.
Great game, Great Atmosphere, but i Hate Amanda for being a naive idiot
