  6. So at what point do you cross the line into just doing rebuilds? Ain't nobody got time for that...
  7. So I spent about 2 hours hand coloring the crappy Donkey Kong manual cover (poor scan/horrible horrible contrast) since there is no matching cover art out there. Then it dawns on me that it's identical to the Atari 400/800 color manual- which I got when I snagged the DK Junior A400 manual since it was the only colored match for the Atari 2600 manual.. ?
  8. Robotron? That was my color test dummy. I liked that the attract mode gave up all the graphics I was after. It's also why I'm disappointed I don't have more cover artwork... Luckily I have most of the Atari Corp manuals (my 3rd party is non-existent) for scanning and retouching, now if only there was some more free time... Robotron- 2084 (Atari).pdf
  9. So for the collectors out there, are there instances besides Joust where the Rev B manuals were (basically) black and white while the Rev A manuals were a lot more red? I haven't trolled eBay enough to find more examples..
  10. So sad what could have been if the Atari 7800 would have launched when it was ready..
  11. In a perfect world I'd do front covers full color using the box art, but there isn't enough high resolution source material (or time in the world...)
  12. Ditto for this one... Joust (Atari).pdf
  13. Thoughts on page 4?.. Original? Custom? Both? Get a hobby? ? Dig Dug (Atari).pdf
  14. Just snagged Power Lords on Ebay
  15. Off to work because people suck. Maybe I'll get that vacation in June (haha) Dynasty!.pdf
  16. Gotta knock out what I can while I'm on vacation. "Hey, what'd you do on vacation?" "uhhhh.." ? Computer Golf!.pdf

  18. One more before sleepytime... Blockout! -- Breakdown!.pdf
  19. Today was a good day. Not for scanning, though Alpine Skiing!.pdf Armored Encounter! -- Subchase!.pdf Baseball!.pdf
  20. Still plugging away on these- separating into individual pages at the moment (the slow, tedious portion). Managed to pick up a 4th(!) scanner so I knocked out ~5000 pages this last week, but now I'm back to the editing stage to take a break- whatever that is. Still on the lookout for Atlantis, Demon Attack, the Nimble Numbers Ned Math Book, and possibly Power Lords. Besides these forum pages, I will get them uploaded to my evilbadman.com site (Under Kirkland's Manual Labor-not yet public) when I am closer to completion.
  21. It's ongoing- down two merchandisers at work and I had to cover for a salesman vacation. I've scanned all of my remaining manuals in the meantime, now it's just a matter of finding time to clean them up..
  22. Okay, so I know a bunch of you are just along for the ride (and manuals), but my angle is the preservation side of things. Now of course that makes for some ridiculously large filesizes, so just so you know the editing is all done at 600-1600 dpi before being resized down to manageable chunks. I like 48bit RAWs at 800dpi, but in the case of Computer Intro I take resolution over color depth and went with 24bit@1600dpi. http://www.atensionspan.com/Computer Intro_013.jpg Crazy, right? Anyways, up next is Smithereens! (compliments of Pickaxe Brad), since this Computer Intro manual is kicking my ass. Question for people with Computer Intro- I currently plan on putting the gatefold sheets (foldouts front and back of manual, and the goofy Glossary pages) right into the pdf manual where they are. Should I also put them in a separate, printable pdf set so they can be the "handy reference" it's supposed to be? Smithereens!.pdf
  23. Trust me, I growled a bit when I first popped the first few pages into Photoshop, then I mumbled, "something about a gift horse" and got to work.
  24. Well, this took longer than expected. But if you saw the original, you'd understand... This taps out everything from bah. Thank-you, sir!! Nimble Numbers Ned.pdf
