Driver for 24AAXXX EEPPROM mounted on karri's carts
Nop90 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx Programming
Why? unsupported features in the emulators or copy protections in the rom? EDIT: don't worry, found the answer. -
Driver for 24AAXXX EEPPROM mounted on karri's carts
Nop90 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx Programming
Interesting, If I understand the pcb layout, alpine games uses Audin to select the second block instead of the higher address bit. Is this behaviour supported by emulators? And by LynxGD? LynxGD states to support every officialand HB game, but without a flagh in the header to to handle this configuration, don't know how it could run AG. EDIt: ok, I found the byte in the LNX header that says to use this addressing. -
Basilynx - A BASIC interpreter for the Lynx
Nop90 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx Programming
Update: the virtual keyboard is minimal but working the problem is that the basic isn't working.P robably I broke something. Now... debugging ? -
In the last year I received about 50 items from Aliexpress and 2 got lost, but forthem I asked a refund; at first the two vendors denied the refund asking to wait a little more, but after the delivery end date Aliexpress forced the vendor to refund me. For me it worked better than ebay.

You can search on aliexpress for "Travel bag cable", there are several models and different prices/promotions. The brand of mine is TUUTH, but i think it's only a rebranding because I can find the same product with other brands. The link to mine is: https://it.aliexpress.com/item/4000215622268.html

The original atari Lynx carrying case starts to be rare and overpriced, but I found a cheap alternative on chinese marketplaces and I received it just today. The case measures are 24x12x5 cm and the Lynx II fits very well in it. There are a lot of pockets for the carts or other little accessories (like a comlynx cable). If you want more space there are bigger cases, like this one where I can put a charger and the small cart programmer mounted on a RPI 0. I bought this one a year ago. Unluckily there are no cases that fit the Lynx I, at least for the moment. The price is about 9€ and I'm very happy of it. I'm going to buy other 3 of them.

This post is mostly for @karri but I think it's better to discuss the proposal in a thread than in PM. I'm reusing most of the code of the tgi lib for to lynx for my BASIC interpreter and while studying how to adapt the code I found a possible little change to the TGI Outtext function The function uses a buffer to store up to 20 chars to be drawn at the same time on the screeen. This could seem right because the font size is 8px wide, the screen is 160px wide and 160/8=20. But this doesn't consider the case of a text drawn not aligned with the left border of the screen: in this weird case 21 chars would be the correct number (19 full characters and 2 partial characters). I's not so common that a text is written partially out of the screen, but can happen with a scrolltext. If the change is approved I can provide the updated code for the tgi driver.

Driver for 24AAXXX EEPPROM mounted on karri's carts
Nop90 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx Programming
No classic game lynx uses the eeprom, but some of the homebrews released in the last year do. For example almost all the games released by me, like Lawnmower, 4ttude, Nutmeg, Xump, Xump2. -
Some Homebrew games do not work, e.g. "Nutmeg"
Nop90 replied to Blademan2's topic in Lynx GameDrive Support
That roms handles both cases of saves on EEPROM and saves on SD for the old version of the SD card, but this is not working anymore with the new card where you have to select only one of this two options, while the hybrid mode hangs the code. I asked in another thread of this section to upgrade the LynxGD driver to be compatible with the old card, but I suppose it requires time. Since the new LynxGD card has Eeprom emulation, it doesn't require the SD access anymore to save the Hi scores, so for my games I can provide a version that has only the Eeprom save so to work on the new card. I think you can ask to the other developer to do the same. Please let me know all the roms of mine (included the Retroguru ones and the OCEO coded by me) that you need. I'll post some fixed roms of mine here in a few days. -
Basilynx - A BASIC interpreter for the Lynx
Nop90 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx Programming
A Basic compiler would be great, but I don't have the experience to do it. Also a Basic interpreter would be impossible for me without EhBasic sources freely available for non commercial use. -
Basilynx - A BASIC interpreter for the Lynx
Nop90 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx Programming
Let me do a first working version, then everyone will be free to modify or add things to it. The EhBasic core shold be fully working, but without a way to input something it only waits forever. So the priority is to add a basic virtual keyboard that in the furure can be expanded. I don't want to add Suzy support in the BASIC instructions, only gfx primitives working on the framebuffer, but POKEing data in memory should be possible to do everything. -
Last weekend started this project using the EhBasic sources. My idea is to extend the language with some of the GFX commands from the Atari Basic and maybe a command to play ABC tunes. I designed a 6x6 ascii font for this project, coded the text output code and at the moment I'm coding a Virtual Keyboard for the input. Last thing to add will be the possibility to load and save the programs using the LynxGD. At some poiint I'll publish the WIP code on my github so to receive some help (if someone wants), for the moments I want to code alone to improve my ASM skills. Don't expect I can go fast with this, with the new year just started my job requires a lot of time.

Driver for 24AAXXX EEPPROM mounted on karri's carts
Nop90 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx Programming
This requires a new shell design too. The dent on the cart is missing the the the 4-pin header requires some space for cables to go out of the back of the cart. Note: the label on the cart says 24AA256, why not 24AA512? -
Driver for 24AAXXX EEPPROM mounted on karri's carts
Nop90 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx Programming
That pcb board uses A1, I don't think the A0 revision is already available. The difference in the driver is a single instruction (two STZ RCART0 to change the clock signal on the A1 line instead of 1 for the A0), so with a little modify in the code both the two version can be used. -
On my pc (with Windows for company policy) I keep my coding stuff on a Ubuntu VM on VMWare, and I'm really happy with this configuration.

It happens. When you play a bad level, don't give up and use the remainder of the game to study the harder levels.

I'm very bad at video games, but RED deserved to be completed.

I'm going to spend the next 2 days in my country house with my family and without PC (no internet connection there, and low band for the mobile phone). I'll try to score 0 when I back to the city, this way the other contenders have a little chance to beat me in the next two days

I found a pattern to pass level 19, but making a perfect play in all the other levels isn't so trivial, after reaching level 20 with 0 deaths, ended the game with a 12 ?. In the evening I'll try to score a 1!
-
DEATHS 2 VALIDATION 2046 Played this game for about 60 minutes without a pause and I don't think it's possible to do better than this, I can't pass levels 19 and 23 without losing at least 1 life.
-
My record is under attack, I have to try to improve it. ?
-
Don't give up, when I made 41 I thought it was a great score, but it can be beated easily once you know the game. If you scored 41 you should know all the safe points for most of the levels and most of the deaths should be in levels 22 and 23. Calm down before starting to play, try to reach level 22 with only 2 deaths and cross the fingers in that two crazy levels. Competition is still open.
