  1. Intellivision is making the Waffle maker. Saturday morning waffles and video games for the win.
  2. Atari VCS. The Only Way to Win is Not Play the Game. Footage not representative of actual gameplay.
  3. You know Atari could end the little brewhaha in this thread if they just posted an update or something about the games their machine will allow us to play. At least give us an update to let us know when they are going to post some gameplay footage or something. I'm just sad that I don't expect to have any taco money next October... Wait, the Amico will be like $100 less than the Taco box. My family won't be able to live high on the hog, but we'll still be able to have tacos. Uh oh, I just thought of something. Tommy, are the controllers taco resistant?
  4. Based on this in-depth review, I played the game for the first time tonight. I didn't encounter any of the empty game play the reviewer talks about. I think the grade should be a little higher. Maybe somewhere around a +.
  5. Just saw a video of their latest update. They finally have a working prototype they can show us.
  6. I wish I could afford something like that. Although, I'd be afraid to take it anywhere for fear of damaging it. I still use my Pocket Go because it was so cheap.
  7. 5.94 My buddy and I were at work on my flashback. He got his 5.94 and sometime later that day I got mine. We'd been playing all of the Activision games for the patches. As soon as we got the scores we quit and moved on to different games.
  8. At first I thought it was a braided cable. Now I'm pretty sure it's a shoelace holding this shit together. Make sure to tuck that shit in; don't want to fall on your face right before the finish line Atari.
  9. Select Game 33 for one player and Game 66 for alternating two players. The manual says these variants have slow asteroids, hyperspace, and earn an extra ship at 5,000 points. I don't think there is a functional difference between these and games 1 (one player) and 34 (two players).
  10. I can't get past 7. I always have a star that either travels behind and at the same speed as the clouds or so close to the horizon that a can't hit it long enough without hitting the clouds or it crossing and docking me energy. I'm playing on my Harmony cart so I don't know if I have a crappy rom or what.
  11. As for my favorites, Wizard of Wor is Aces and Solar Fox is a close second.
  12. I've seen a lot of people mention Omega Race. Do you have the joystick booster, play with a Genesis controller, TJ's joystick or driving controller hack? Or maybe play in an emulator? I'm wondering if it is worth putting one of those hacks on my new Harmony cart.
  13. Oh how far we haven't come in over two years.
  14. Received mine this week and my Vader loves it. Even though I have the demos and bins, my daughter still likes using the carts so I'll be buying the homebrews and hacks over the next year or so. So much great work by the community, that I have no problem rewarding. Thanks everyone. AA does what Atari SA could only wish it could do.
  15. Seriously. This thread is comedy gold. Maybe AA should do a crowdfund and sell these things for around $20.
  16. I second Solaris. I am currently playing through it and mapping as I go. Man is it long. Shit, I even hacked it to have unlimited lives to try and get through it. I suck.
  17. And last night my daughter and I played Medieval Mayhem for the first time. Holy crap, three fireballs rocketing around. I was the first to go down and then her and we watched the computer duke it out for a few minutes. We started over again with different settings and I lost first again. After the computer had two wins, she one, and I none, I called for bedtime. I felt like a shit heel because she was winning, and after the requisite melt down, she was truly sad because we couldn't keep playing. Never before, even when she won or was winning, had I seen her like that. I think she felt true agency in the game, and it takes simple games like this to develop that feeling. These new mobile games have no agency; they are just glorified hamster balls and Skinner boxes. I think some people get that. She doesn't get it, but I think she will. And all of this from an awesome remake of a forty-year-old game. Fuck yeah the 2600 and retro gaming. Suck it Fred, Atari Age and all of these awesome programmers have it figured out. Take your shit box and go home.
