Hi all, and thanks to Crossbow for contacting me personally. I checked the datasheet and did some searches to be sure, but the advertised source current for the 4013 is < 5mA, which is equivalent to having a built-in 1K resistor (although the internals are probably much different). Certainly having a resistor on the cart couldn't hurt and is a good idea for the next hardware revision. I've had the reset wire hooked up to my 7800 personally and never had any issues. As for the hook, I used to offer the fork style clip, but switched to the hook style clip because it is better for hooking to the leg of a resistor, and doesn't come off so easily. Believe it or not, I've been able to twist the hook around just that leg and have the plastic part of the hook insulate that pin from the next one. But I understand that it's not that straightforward for everyone. FWIW I've refunded genfuyung's 7800 adapter since they were having trouble with it and went though all the troubleshooting steps I recommended. Generally the reset wire is not required for startup if you have a good enough capacitance in the reset circuit (some caps die down over time). Also I'm not 100% confident in the stock power supply being able to fully power BackBit (I've modified mine to have a barrel jack like the 5200). If I ever make a dedicated 7800 cart, I will use FPGA and avoid the reset circuit issue entirely by catching the IRQ.

Multi-cartridge for INTERTON VC4000 VIDEO COMPUTER
evietron replied to Rolo's topic in Classic Console Discussion
If anybody's interested, BackBit now supports full RAM expansion for Interton and Acetronic/Radofin machines. -
There are a few pots inside the machine. Get yourself a ceramic tuning tool. On mine there were still some display issues after adjusting them, so I ran a PCB for a composite mod. As for the voltage it goes through a rectifier and then a 5V regulator, so higher voltage just means more heat generated in the machine.

I can confirm this is caused by the display list RAM being corrupted due to contention with the joystick/6532 input. It's most likely a hardware bug with earlier revisions of the MARIA chip.

BackBit cartridge on the Intellivision
evietron replied to evietron's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
OK save games have been implemented in latest BackBit firmware. It passes the JLP test program. It will not save permanently until you press the cart button to return to the menu. Let me know if you run into any issues. -
BackBit cartridge on the Intellivision

I made a tentative implementation of JLP flash. The way I set it up it will use the BackBit versioning system to store saves, and they will be appended to the ECS file internally, with the option to export them as well to standalone files. And it should work for any JLP flash saving cart. After I get it working I'll send you a build to test. -
Tell me what mappers are still glitchy, and I can check if there are improvements that can be made.

There were some bugs that were fixed. I can still add saving support. -
Unicorns season: Prince of Persia for the A8!

OK, I'll revert AMax to use the bank mask for disable -- other than that everything should work fine on BackBit. Good to hear you guys caught the bad RAM issue. -

Most AtariMax releases work fine, including that sampled sound demo. I think the issue might be bus noise triggering bank changes in certain cases. I'll look into it. -

I support MAX & MEGA banking schemes. Just updated AtariMax scheme to use 0x80 for disable. Not sure what else the issue would be, and I can't test as I only have a 64K XEGS. -

Thanks, I prioritize requests based on who posts at the BackBit Forum. Post the ROMs you want supported there, and I'll do my best. Just received a big batch of chips, so orders are only dependent on build time now (although there is a 1-2 month backlog currently). -
BackBit Pro - 7800 + Pokey adapter now available for pre-order!!!

Yep, BackBit is definitely not a steak knife. I don't particularly care for steak actually, though I do enjoy a good hamburger. As for the 7800, I've made a number of fixes just in the past few days: - Faster startup & some stability fixes - Can now be operated without the reset wire - Improved POKEY accuracy, sounding great on Popeye for instance Next I'll be working on supporting additional banking schemes for some of the modern homebrews. -

It runs all titles I could find. Exposed memory is from 0x0800 to 0xffff (i.e. 62K). The format is BIN, although it would be possible to add support for another format if I can see a spec. Any ROM memory that is unused can be used as RAM. -

I prioritize feature requests based on what users request on the BackBit Forum. The higher price point of the 7800 adapter compared to other BackBit adapters is because it has its own CPU. The adapter's firmware is upgraded automatically by the BackBit cart itself.
