Make sure you are using the latest version. Earlier ones could have problems on a real TI99.

I have the last version in use.

Also I have renamed the two files to XB29GEMC.bin and XB29GEMG.bin.

    Unfortunately it does not work.

The normal TI-XB version works fine, so it can't be the hardware.

    Here is XB 2.9 G.E.M. version 2.920220623

This fixes the problems with crashing that a few have encountered when using a real TI99. When a TI99 starts up, the memory is in an indeterminate state and there was a byte in the scratchpad that was not being properly initialized. Now GEM tries to start with the normal 32 column editor. However some consoles may power up with a bit set that tells GEM to start up using the 40 column editing mode. You can use CALL EDIT32, CALL EDIT40, or CALL EDIT80 to set the desired editing mode.

If you were in the 32 or 40 column editing mode, after a "quit", GEM starts up in that mode. If you were in the 80 column mode, GEM cancels that and starts in the default 32 column mode. This deals with a potential problem. If you do not have 80 column capabilities and type CALL EDIT80, the screen cannot be used. Now, after a "quit," GEM no longer tries to start in the 80 column mode.

The current Extended Basic G.E.M is not executable on a real TI-99/4A with NANOPEB.
Either the TI emits a whistling sound and crashes or after selecting options 1-9 in the main menu only black blocks are displayed and the TI crashes as well.

I assume that the XB G.E.M. is similarly extensive as the XB 2.7 Suite. The latter version definitely does not run on the FINAL GROM 99 with the original TI-99/4A.

In the emulators the whole package works.
Maybe the XB G.E.M. - version is too big for the FINAL GROM 99.

RELEASE RXB 2022C updated bugs found by Archadeshopper and optimized Assembly so works better.

Unfortunately, access to the three floppy drives of the NANOPEB in Rich Editor & Assembler V=2022 does not work in this version either.

The RXB package 2022 is called up on the FINALGROM99.
If the D Directory option is selected, the TI-99 hangs. In the RXB this always works perfectly.

This problem started with RXB version 2020.

It is certainly difficult to find where the problem lies with this behaviour.

So in REA do you hit 1 and it works or do you type in DSK1?

I have the CorComp and TIPI on my computer and both work fine?

Also has been tested on Myarc, RAMDISKS and SCSI too.

It has been reported when you do CALL EA and do a DSR access this can cause

problems and this has been addressed in RXB 2022 when I release it.

Does this happen when you select Rich Editor Assembly from main Title screen?

This problem was told to me by Arcadeshopper so I fixed this by clearing pointers in RXB 2022.

    Thank for the fast answer.

    There are different combinations.
WITH "2" the directory can be queried in XB mode with CALL DIR(2). With a further call Dir("DSK1."), the TI crashes. With a further attempt it works and the files are indicated. With "3" entry into the REA. "D" and "1" the files are displayed. From "DSK1." works. At a further attempt the TI crashes again. Only after I have switched off the TI completely, it works again.
And now the worse news, in the RXB 2015 I can not so understand. The change from XB to EA with Call EA runs faster in RXB 2015.

    Hi Rich,
with the current RXB version I have the problem that the CALL DIR(1) command in XB mode works fine on my NANOPEB. If I execute the DIRECTORY function in the Editor Assembler, the EA hangs and the TI has to be restarted. The RXB2021 is started by a FINALGROM99. Is it possible that a change is necessary for the FINALGROM and NANOPEB?

I dunno, << Extended BASIC 2.7S >> was one of the final things Gazoo, one of our most beloved members, gave to the community before he passed on.

Even if it could be tweaked, it may be difficult finding someone willing to screw with his masterpiece.

It may be easier to simply get a FinalGROM 99 and download the program.

Thanks for the answer. I own the FG99 and have also saved the CF2K program on one of NANOPEB's DISK volumes.

    This all works fine.

The only thought came to me in recent days when I burned the XB 2.7 Suite and RXB2015 software onto UberGrom-Cartridges.

I would like to run the RXB2015 software and the tools or games on a cartridge.

For this I would have to know how the creation of the individual images.BIN works.

I know that is not an easy thing and probably requires knowledge that I do not have.

It was just such a thought.

The GF99 from RB is one of the best expansion for the TI.

Almost all modules, disks and other software can be stored on it and all work without changing the cartridge

  7. How are the UBERGROM images of the XB 2.7 Suite actually put together and what tools are being used for this development?
I ask because I use the NANO PEB and for the program CF2K in version 2.5 would be the better tool for it.
Only I do not know, how the program Compact Flash HDXS can be changed and whether that is possible at all.
Perhaps the tools under points E, L, M, N are no longer required and the free space could be used for other requests / suggestions.
  8. You can use the 29F040 as a suitable substitute for the 49F040. Pinout and voltages are the same.

I use the 49F040 mainly because I still have something in the range of 1,000 of them to supply parts for my projects.

    Thank you for the information.

is good for me, because otherwise the project Self-Catrige would be over again.

  9.

Is there a real replacement or a pin-compatible alternative for the chip AT49F040-90JC?

The chip is hard to come with, contains lead and is not RoHS compliant.

I got the Mini Pro and two pieces of PCB Fetzner Ubergrom board and will buld my own Cartridge. The problem is that the 1284P is easy to get, but the AT49F040 ... chip is not.

    Nice greetings

    Gernot

  10. The XB 2.7 cartridge contains a complete suite of additional utility programs and is designed to run from the UberGROM board, which has a different memory footprint than the FinalGROM99. There are UberGROM images that do the same thing for Triton's SEB and Winkler's EB3. The UberGROM images for Gilbertson's RXB 2012 and 2015 combine RXB and REA, but do not include additional utilities like the other three images do. Note that in all cases, it is possible to separate the parts of the suites and run the programs individually from the FinalGROM99--but it does not have the ability to contain the entire suite as a single image.

Note also that each of the different XB extensions has a different set of additional commands and capabilities. All of them have specific advantages and disadvantages when applying them to specific programming tasks, so looking for a "best fit" makes a lot of sense when starting a programming project. The additional functions/commands of RXB have probably seen the most use, but the others also have advantages in specific situations, as already noted.

A big thank you to all of you who always have an answer for me. Beautiful evening

No, there is no single XB2.7S image for the FinalGROM99... HOWEVER you can get practically every program that cartridge has and put them on a FinalGROM.

If you would like detailed information on RXB, it would be best to ask him personally, I'm sure he would be willing to answer your questions since he is the author.

    Why single XB2.7S image?

    The Mechtronic Basic XBPlus.bin, XBPlusd.bin, XBPlusg.bin or

    Super Extended Basic (2.5, 2.6) - superxbc.bin, superxbd.bin, superxg.bin or

    the RXB 2015 - rxb2015c.bin, rxb2015d.bin, rxb2015g.

I am composed of 3 parts of the program.

Actually, the XB2.7 should also be able to be loaded in FG99

  12. A cherished Item in my TI collection appears to have died today. My Extended BASIC 2.7s cartridge from Gazoo has become unstable. :_(

I really loved being able to use the 9640 Menu System with it, but now it locks up the TI whenever I try to use it and for some odd reason. I even have to remove power from the 32K/TIPI to get the console to run properly afterwards... even AFTER the cartridge has been removed and the consoles power recycled.

Some day in the future I'll burn a new 1284P and 49F040 to see if that is part of the problem or if it's the UberGROM itself. Now some of the programs on it will not work with the TIPI anyway, so for the foreseeable future I'll get by with the FinalGROM and just wait a second or two for a program to load.

Is there a Final Grom 99 version of the XB 2.7 Suite Cart?

I do not currently know what are the big and crucial differences between the different XB versions.

Are the RXB 2015/2016/2018 versions similar to the XB 2.7, apart from the additional tools.

Will the RXB 2018 also get new Commands? The MLOAD command of XB2.7 is very handy.

  13. i would recommend purchasing a different Extended Basic module. I have 2 SXB modules and one is quirky and the other is solid. so it could be SXB.

I will now first of all think about, whether i should invest in this old technology even more money,

or i just stay with the Classic 99 and experiment with this emulator a little. It costs nothing and it just works.

16 years ago I had a PBox with all the cards from Michael Becker, including the TI-99 / 4A (snug99) with already the TI Extended Basic. The configuration, I should not have sold anymore. I was able to read out all the modules and save the images. No module was needed for the following work anymore. There was playing and programming just great.

  14. If you type in the word SIZE at the ready prompt and hit enter what do it do? just SIZE not CALL SIZE. In SXB not TI Basic. The screen should look similar to what you see here, but if you don't have 32k memory expansion you will only get 1 value instead of two.

Yes it is. But unfortunately with the input of size no message concerning the memory is spent, but the TI hangs up.

  15. Can you go into TI Basic and type a simple program in

    10 Print "Hello"

    20 Goto 10

this will give an endless loop, but will show if the basic system is functioning and accepting input, just a thought.

You can go to http://js99er.net/and try it on an emulator to see if you get the same results.

I have a small tower billing program in TI-Basic and that works as it should. Currently I have no other module. Only two weeks ago, inspired by this forum, I started again to deal with the TI-99 / 4A again. Unfortunately not a good start.

  16. Have you tried eliminating variables? If you've got a nanoPEB and a SXB module, how does the computer react with NOTHING in the cart slot? What about with SXB plugged in and no nanoPEB?

Is the nano recognized at all when you start the TI with nothing plugged in? Are you using a speech synth between the nano and the console? Do you have LED lights on the nano that light up when turned on?

    Many possible variables to consider

Currently only the Ti with the SBX module is used. Without a module, it always works.

The TI-Basic always works with the SBX module, but the SBX module never actually works.

The only success was that the Ti entered the command mode when selecting the SBX ** READY **.

Nevertheless, the TI does not work in SBX mode.

CF7A + is currently not available.

Do I have to get a new module? In SBX mode, when entering call clear, BYE or NEW, color splashes are repeatedly

written on the screen at different positions, then the TI hangs up again completely,

then immediately the output of the known continuous tone occurs.

Need the SBX necessarily a 32K extension, I have not currently, because that was on the defective CF7A + module

  17. I have cleaned and controlled everything now.

Unfortunately, these actions have not been successful.

Right now something funny has happened.

I turned on the TI and just left it in the cover picture and went for some food.

After three quarters of an hour I went back to the TI.

Now the title picture is displayed clean, also "2 - Super Extended Basic is displayed correctly,

after selecting" 2 "Ready is displayed, but unfortunately no command like size, call bye, call new is accepted.
I think this TI or the XB module has a little more problems than expected.

    Beautiful evening.

  18. A big thank you to all the fans who gave me their tips.

    The TI-Basic works perfectly.

I had already cleaned the Catridge port and the side board connection with spirit.

The port of the Triton XB is also cleaned and the individual soldering tracks are slightly tinned.

The CF7A + module is not recognized, because it is not displayed in the title screen.

However, it worked well until I stored it dry many years ago.

I will clean the plug with contact spray. Maybe the CF7A + module will work correctly then.

    many Greetings
    Gernot

  19. Good evening and a friendly hello to everyone.

    I have purchased an old TI-99 / 4a. Unfortunately,

I have a problem now. When I insert a Super Extended Module (Triton) and turn on the Ti, then very often the selection point 2 is not displayed.

Next time, only "2 S" will be displayed. Suddenly, in further experiments, "2 Super Extended Basic" will be displayed.

The TI returns to the title screen after selecting "2".

This process repeats until the TI hangs completely and this intrusive continuous tone is output.

    I have / had another CF7A + module.

If I made it, that after countless attempts the TI does not hang up again with inserted CF7A + module (no CF card is plugged in),

then after a few attempts I have also made the XB module run a few times.

It also happens that XB was started, but knows about commands like SIZE, CALL INIT, and outputs syntax error.

If I insert the CF7A + with inserted CF-card at the side of the TI, then the TI simply does not run and it only different continuous tones are issued.

What can I do now? Is this TI lost and unrepairable. Is it even worthwhile to repair this board or should I try to find another one?

For tips I am very grateful.

    Dear Greetings
    Gernot from Austria
