I have to say that one of the best things about the FB2 is sharing it with my 4 year old son. Seeing these "new" games through his eyes is a treat, and it reminds me of some of the magic of my first time around the Atari block. Thanks to Curt and Co. for making this happen!
My son's favorite so far are:
Adventure (mostly watching Dad play)
Haunted House (he's pretty good)
Maze Craze (two player fun- I follow his lead through the maze)
Outlaw (the guy falling on his butt tickles my son every time)
Combat (the planes! the PLANES!)
Anybody else enjoying this with their kids? What are their takes on the classics?
-Bill
My daughter is the same way, she likes to play "Dragons" but interestingly enough... she likes me to play Adventure II more then regular adventure...
Then she likes to play "the guy" which is her way of saying Pitfall! She loves to say "oh no! Crocodiles!" and "he's swinging daddy!"
Her other favorite game is "fish" which is her name for Aquaventure because she likes to see Ariel, the mermaid... she's 3, so she has her own way to seeing things

So it definitely is a joy to watch her and to watch all the kids I've seen step up and try out the Flashback 2's, play the games and really enjoy themselves.
Curt
I am 41 years old and I say "Oh no, crocodiles" and "He's swinging, daddy" too. *scratches head*

I didn't buy one either because I have heard that when you plug one in and push the on button the unit begins to make a loud buzz sound then it explodes into flames with a loud report. The last thing I want is to be rolling on the floor trying to put a thirty dollar fire out on the carpet and people standing around going "Man, im glad that wasn't me."
Okay, i'm not sure they really burst into flames but until I hear they are working better I am holding out.

Doug

Sounds like "Made in China" rings true with this thing too. Hmm... Lemme see:
Quadrun with no voice - "Oh it's a bad lot"
Rolling screen on Yars return - again with the bad lot
Two different versions of Millipede.
Then the problem listed in this thread.
Yep. "Made in China" still means "This product sucks"
So we pay $300K for homes that went for $100k less than five years ago, but that shit quality peice of Chinese made electronic gear is only $29.95.
Frankly, I'd rather pay $100k for a house and $500 for a game console made in good 'ole sunnyvale, CA. I need my home, I want the game console. If I cannot afford the console, so be it. I still have a roof over my head.
What will happen when we cannot afford what we need anymore? I'm lucky that I have a salary where I can afford a house these days. What about those that do not? What about my kids?
Oh yeah, I have to finish this post before my chinese-made computer power supply dies and reboots my computer again.
/soapbox off -- Putting on my American Made NewBalance Sneakers and taking my dog for a walk.
And no, I have never been in a labor union, and Fuck Walmart.
Gosh darn it, i was going to say all that but ZONIE beat me to the punch. Well put, Zonie. "Made in China" ---- ugh

As Curt said...check the thread dedicated tothe hidden games...
What's with the "go find the codes yourself somewhere else hidden in this forum or elsewehere" attitude -- why not be a pal and just pony up the codes and the games and let's not play "ring around the rosey, a pocket full of poseys -- ashes, ashes, we all fall down." Actually im not sure where I was going with that but you get my drift.

Yeah, I have some documentation on it that talks about 4 different revisions of it and major problems getting it accepted at Atari. It did look pretty and the graphics are crisp, a shame though. One of the memos talks about the graphics being too much for the Jaggy to handle....no doubt... Kinda threw me off on that one.... I'll try to dig it up...
First off, Jay Smith is one of the nicest gamers i've ever met. He's a JAGUAR fan much like myself. He has a lovely personality and a beautiful home in the suburbs. Next issue....Tiny Toons for the Atari Jaguar. Even if it didn't possess 64 bit capabilities and played like a 16-bit game I would still shell out the money for the game because A)I l ike Tiny Toons and B)another Jaguar game would be nice. Well, that's my two cents.
Kisses,
Doug

If Songbird or someone else can actually get this game released for the Jaguar, would you be willing to actually purchase it for $80-100? It's one thing to get the rights to publish this game on the Jaguar, and another thing to sell the game. I understand that it has to be a fairly large investment to undertake a project like this, get all the game cases, boxes, instructions made etc....so I think it would be nice to see how many of us would be willing to fork over the greenbacks to pay for this game.
I'll raise my hand and commit that I would pay the $80(just judging by Songbirds typical price for Jag games) to own this cart, with a full color box and an instruction booklet. I dont know how far over that price I'd be willing to go, since it is just a prototype, but it looks damn good judging from the screenshots and the gameplay video I downloaded. Personally I hope that this is the 'mystery Jag game' that Songbird has listed in their Projects page.
I concur wholeheartedly with Gunstarhero. I too would pay $80.00 for a Jaguar version of "TOTAL CARNAGE" but not much more.

I agree with Mister Oesii --- there is a gaping hole in the Golf category and Jack Nicholson Golf would have filled that void nicely.

I bought the Atari Jaguar Console and a couple of games in 1993. I loved it. I played with it everynight. I put it on my pillow next to me and I gently carressed it's exterior as I told it stories about the early days in Atari's history and when I am sure it's fast asleep (it makes a cute low-level snoring sound) I then proceed to pull up the sheet half over it's plastic body and put my arm around it and then fall asleep with my best friend. In the morning I get up quietly and make some scrambled eggs, bacon and toast (with a glass of orange juice) and serve it to my friend on a tray so he can have breakfast in bed. After breakfast and a shower we put on our under-roos and I connect my Atari Jaguar Console to the TV and play Cybermorph for 12 hours straight. I love you, Atari Jaguar. I always loved you and I always will.
Long Live the Jaguar!

Battlesphere looks like a pretty solid game but due it's limited availability and the fact that it goes between $450.00 - $500.00 makes it very easy for me to pass this one over. No game is worth that price. For that amount of money I will be able to complete my already growing 50 plus Jaguar games collection and other Jaguar (reasonablly priced) collectibles. Well, that's my two cents.

Hello,Anybody else see this? http://www.portablesystems.net/jaguar.html
I heard that he was selling them at CGE for about $300.
How's that sound, as an alternative to a Sony PSPee.
Cheers,

I like both Flashback units although I have to admit -- Flashback 2.0 is a tad tastier and all-around handsome console.

Because it has the best controller ever made for a system.

My top ten Atari 2600 games for good wholesome fun for the entire family would be:
1) Custer's Revenge
2) Bachelor Party
3) Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em
4) X-Man
5) Knight on the Town
6) Burning Desire
7) Gigolo/Cathouse Blues
Lady in Wading9) Westward Ho
10) Philly Flasher
It's always fun to gather around the TV with grandma, grandpa and the kids and play games from 30 or so years ago that represented the kind of innocence and simplicity that is somehow missing in today's multi-million dollar corporate cookie-cutter games that are marketed for their targeted demographics.
Best Regards,
Doug

Make a new game so I can buy it. Thanks and godbless.

Do British people play Jaguar games too?
-
Time to buy a new "Atari Jaguar Console."
-
Yeah get your facts straight.
-
The "ATARI JAGUAR CONSOLE" is the most powerful game system on the planet. No system in current production can touch it.
-
Unfortunately, no multiplayer. But for a singplayer experience, it's the best version ever made.

That is the most kickass idea I have ever heard on Atari Age in my entire life. I am sending you 3 million dollars in small unmarked bills (mostly fives and tens) through FedEx. Don't ask questions just enjoy.
