Interesting. I have no idea of how to do it.
The tune I wrote is written in Furnace Tracker.
I wonder if you could take a look and see how to incorporate the bass. I have the bass line in the pdf.
Spanish Flea.pdf 90.32 kB · 0 downloads
The Furnace Tracker file is here:
TIA_Spanish_Flea_Effects.fur 1 kB · 0 downloads
Edit: I found an article in TIA Tracker talking about "Overlay percussion". The idea seems to be that you play the percussion on the beat and skip the attack phase of the following melody note. So a bit like the forever argument between the drummer and the bass player.
It is more than one once I have seen a drummer trying to sell the bass player after the gig as the bass is always late.
So now we have a "well-known" technique to do this properly
.
Just kidding. I will spend some time in creating a combined bass-hi-hat instrument to try this technique.
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Furnace as I only use RMT for my POKEY tunes. I tried fiddling a bit with the instrument editor and could not figure out how to set an instrument up it in a way I needed.
Best I can do is send you some examples of what can be done with just two channels in RMT for inspiration.

Inserting a new sound would cut the current sound. So I don't feel it would make the tune better. But I get the idea.
It is a well-known technique and when done properly, you won't even notice. Commonly used on the POKEY and SID.

The TIA has just two channels. Percussions or bass line is the choice to make. Or some kind of instrument trickery where you can get two sounds of one note.
You are not limited to a single instrument per channel. Just interleave a bass with a drum in some rhytmical pattern.

Not bad for a first attempt. Perhaps try adding a bass line?

I'd definitely buy those micro-switched wireless CX-40s, and the transparent shell looks cool. 🙂

Out of this palette, where would the original red label carts fit? Would that be colour 04? Btw. it should be spelled "Burgundy".

I have a separate jack for my stereo POKEY output so I don't need to deal with audio over HDMI. It would be nice to have on the connector but not necessary.

Has anyone used a microHDMI port instead of DVI with Sophia 2? I'd like to avoid drilling in my case so I thought of using microHDMI in place of RF-out. Now I have to figure out how to implement it.

You mean Scorched Earth? It's already been released both digitally and physically last year.

I can’t recall the full list at the moment, but if I remember right a real 7800 can’t play a small list of 2600 games.
Only ones I can recall off the top of my head are Activision Decathlon and Space Shuttle. No idea of that issue carried over to PAL games or not.
Oh, so that's why I couldn't get Decathlon to run on my 7800!

This is the first time for me playing Atari 7800 games. Are these sounds normal in crossbow? 🤔 And also 7800 games look really pixelated and ugly...lol. Maybe a decent/optional scanline filter could be added in a future update? It doesn't really matter with 2600 games.
Not only are the colours wrong, but the game seems to be stretched to fullscreen on a widescreen TV. Therefore graphics looks blockier than it should.

I would love to see a collaboration with https://www.decksaver.com/ ,they make fantastic quality covers for synths, decks etc.Ive used them many times and have always been impressed with the quality and fit.
They are a UK based company so maybe Ben could get in touch?
The 2600+ already comes with a plastic cover, but due to the clumsy placement of connectors, it cannot be used when cables are connected. IMHO that could have been thought through better.

2800?
in Atari 2600+
Also interesting are the controllers, which work both as a joystick and a paddle, similarly to the Classic Joystick for the Atari VCS. The downside is that there's only one joystick per connector. Nevertheless, it would be a nice peripheral to have for the 2600+.

Oh, I see, thanks for the explanation.

I wonder why the warming-up issue never occured on the Atari 8-bit line. I am not aware of any noticeable colour shifting on the 8-bit.

I may have missed some information but does your cart currently support up to 48KB ROMs? Is there a list of titles that fit within the limit? Any chance of extending the maximum size in future updates?

So I have two 7800 systems - one is PAL and the other is SECAM. My PAL 7800 does not have a composite/S-Video mod yet so I could only run it through RF. The SECAM system has a factory RGB output (which AFAIK is internally converted from composite). Unfortunately my RetroTink 2x Mini does not accept RF or RGB outputs so I could only take pictures of the screen (an old 15" LCD TV) with my phone. In the end, there are too many factors that may impact the colours. Anyway, here are the images, first the PAL machine, second SECAM.(I only used Pole Position II as in the other games it was hard to spot the differences. I did not do any adjustments to the photos other than perspective correction.)

I'll have those up either late today or tomorrow. I'm presuming the start of Fuji track for PP II, unless you had something else in mind.
That would definitely do, thanks!

While I'd like to be of help, unfortunately I do not own any of the games in the screenshots. The only ones I have are Food Fight, Jinks, Joust and Pole Position II.

Youre damn right. A kind developer sent me this insane video of R-Type proof of concept running on a 7800 that has also been seen running on a 2600+. My mind was blown and you can imagine my response. But temper your expectation, even if we know we want it and it seems to make complete sense, the commercial reality can screw ideas like this.
I hope they'll finish this. 🙂

Okay, I see it was a bunch of games getting discontinued. The stated reason being that boxes were running low... But looks like many were games that would be considered copyright violation and thus a significant liability to Atari as the new owners of the site. It was pretty risky for AtariAge to have ever been selling some of this to begin with, I guess.
Not that risky at certain time, I assume, since nobody cared much about those franchises. But times have changed since then.

DIY 2600+ flash cart with a Raspberry Pico
in Atari 2600+

So I figured some things out with help of some skilled Furnace users and I added a bassline (and a snare drum) to a few patterns. Only about 9 orders are currently updated, the rest will be wrong.
