  1. I wrote to Warren a few weeks ago. He did write back and said he is still working away at the book. Said books take a lot longer to write than games did.
  2. In the process of turning my storage room into a retro game arcade/retro game development room as I wait for my first homebrew purchases to arrive. Still relatively new to the Homebrew scene, but I love that it really is keeping these old systems alive. Was a very cool surprise to find this thriving community of enthusiasts on the internet when I did.

  3. Did the Atari Homebrew game “Dungeon” ever have a box release? If so, does anyone know if this is something that may be restocked eventually?

Yep. At one time you could get a box, and a poster/map (OOP). You may want to PM Al. I know he prints the boxes up in small runs from time to time. He may have one laying around.dungeon_poster.thumb.jpg.1323906f67167c17f2dbe1bf5936648e.jpg.217d027eef6150114c2e5cf695707346.jpg

Thank you :) I would love to have that poster and map as well. Beautiful art and love your design on the game. I’ll definitely be asking him about it.

  4. Thanks, no, sorry no demo. I'll be eventually releasing the entire game
  5. This is a game guide for Deepstone that I was working on. It's not really needed, but was fun to do. I just represented each floor by four rooms to keep it simple. All the floors are random, so it won't help map your way out in the game, but it does show what type of monsters to expect on each floor. Also it will give you a rough idea on how much further you have to go to reach the Dark Lord at the bottom.
  6. Just clicked on a random homebrew video on YouTube and saw my ad that the guy received in his order. I just want to say... that is really neat.

  7. No, sorry, I am not 5bytes, they do share a similar look but that was not intentional. I was trying to keep my game following a 8x8 tiles based graphics to feel like an NES Zelda-like clone on the Atari. I think we made very different choices in our gameplay designs. :S
  8. Thank you, I appreciate it Just the box and cartridge will be released initially
  9. Was looking at old Atari catalogues.. Decided to make this tonight ?
  10. Agreed, would love to see more of this. I was flipping through the Art of Atari book while I was creating DeepStone’s box art and thought of attempting to emulate one of my favourite artists in there. However, I did decide to go a different route in the end. I have a huge appreciation for those original paintings though. Each artist used different tools and had a completely different take and style on what they felt the box art should be and portray. On a side note, Brian’s Man Cave reviewed the game if anyone hasn’t seen it. Thought I’d share it here:
  11. loving everything I’ve seen on Penult! Got a little friendly jealousy here. It’s really looking awesome! And is that S.A.M. As in the one I remember for C64 on the Atari?!? ?
  12. You make very valid points, and I get where you are coming from, however I went into this with a different mindset. Before I wrote my first line of code, I knew what I wanted this box to look like. The choices I made when creating every aspect of my game was to make it visually appealing to myself (also, in high hopes that others would like and enjoy it as well of course). Having a game on cartridge and in a box was kind of a dream of mine since I was a kid. This is my first completed game and It is also a giant mix and match of my childhood. I’ve mixed so many things together that defines a lot of what I was into as I was growing up. Everything, even down to the choices in colours have meaning to me in some way. It was less about following the proper rules and timeline for me than it was to mix everything that I thought was good about the era. It’s fun, it’s art. That’s one reason that the back of my box has a bit more life to it than the original boxes did. It’s more about what feels better than how it actually should be to fit into the exact time period. But what you said is fair... I like rules and structure, but then again, I don’t. It’s complicated ? Thanks for you’re input and I’m glad you are looking forward to my game
  13. Went for a walk today and came across the strangest thing...
  14. My ZeroPage Homebrew shirt just arrived in the mail today :) ??

  15. Curious, has any 2600 developers made an unboxing video of their own game? ?

  16. Thank you so much! This will possibly help solve a big problem I was having ??
  17. What exactly is happening when you make an “if then” statement but don’t include the “goto” command? Just the label you want to jump to. It compiles without error but is it actually working? Is there a benefit to this? i feel like I remember someone mentioning it.
  18. Watching the news and really want to see America recover and heal from this stronger and wiser than you were before. Stay safe, peacefully fight for what is right.

  19. After three very long frustrating nights, I just killed the largest bug I ever killed!! He was a sneaky bugger, almost didn't even see him. But I got him, and man it feels good. ?

Sounds like me, catching and releasing these moths we have called "Millers".  Last night I got home from work and found 9 of them in the house...Our state is on their migration path and they end up in houses on their way to pollinate flowers in the Rockies...

  20. Thanks @socrates63 and everyone else who commented I’m really glad it gave you that D&D vibe because that’s pretty much what I was going for. My older brother was the dungeon master when I was a kid so we had a lot of those books around the house and I just loved flipping through the art and getting lost in them. as for the box, yes, there will be a box. ??
  21. Hey, I’ve been watching your YouTube channel. Love it! Great reviews ?
  22. I have just finished the manual for Deepstone Catacomb!! Wooo! I'm sure there will be some changes that have to be made but still, this feels great :)

Best  of luck!  The game looks Great!!

  23. Hey guys, just a quick update. Sorry, there is currently no demo but I sent the box and cartridge design over to Al. I have all the monster artwork done for the manual and I’ll have all weekend to work on the layout for it. Not sure if it will make it for the June release or not but all my free time is currently being thrown at it.
  24. Hey guys, wasn’t sure where exactly I should post this, but I’m looking for a photoshop template for original Atari 2600 box and manual art that would include the necessary bleed edges and everything required for printing. Wondering if something like this exists already? Did some searches but haven’t come up with anything. For the box, I’m looking for either one like Adventure or one like Yars Revenge layout. Would really like to have it as close to the original designs as possible. it’d be nice to have an original style manual template as well. I’ve finished most (not all) of the artwork for these. Thanks for any help!
