  1. D'oh! Why didn't I think to do that first, lol...just to try it out. Oh well, you live and learn! Jin, I'll let ya know when it arrives. With shipping and exchange the cable came to around 20 bux CDN, but I've had my eye on it a while now so I knew I'd have to get one eventually.
  2. I don't trust those wall warts with multi voltages. They seem to fry out ofter a few years...if they can do that, then what's stopping them from randomly one day frying your console? I used to use them with digital guitar pedals back in the 90s and was sick of buying 9 volt batts that would drain in mere days of use. After the second wall wart stopped working I got an official AC adaptor and haven't looked back.
  3. Jin, are you still using that funky stereo mod cable output with your Model 1? I have mine coming in the mail, finally.
  4. I am soooò buying this. Just need confirmation that the retrobit USB six button controllers will work with it, apparently the Japanese version ships with the six buttons vs the NA release with the three. And talk about amazing selection of games! This could really set the bar high. They're only 20 games in and already have the majority of games I'd ever want on it! This thing is almost too good to be true.
  5. Fantastic news, thanks for your efforts!
  6. You mean with an adaptor you can use analog sticks on the PS1 Classic? If so...that's awesome!
  7. I just picked up another one, now it's ten bucks less than my first one. I paid $39 CDN for the second one. I can't imagine it'll drop further but these are definitely moving at these prices, although still about a dozen left at the Walmart I saw.
  8. All the test equipmemt is fantastic! Gotta get those in the hands of some techs!
  9. I think people shouldn't get upset over stuff like this. If you don't agree, there's plenty more socially skilled ways to address it than shown here. I'm beginning to have to agree with what Thumper's mom said about what to do when you have nothing good to say...except rather than not say anything?...just do your best not to come across sounding like a jerk.
  10. These articles are the equivalent of doomsday prepping for retro gamers. Of course everything dies at some point. But I'll tell you what, I've been doing this for decades and all my systems work. For the ones that did go squirelly it wasn't hard to find someine who could fix it. Take care of your stuff and it will easily outlast you.
  11. Can we just agree to make our opinions known without the obligatory backhanded-compliments? If somebody is happy with physical media, so be it. Somebody else, digital is their bag. No need to then suggest or imply that 'the others' have problems/issues/whatnot. It's boring, already.
  12. Newer gamers won't care the way we do. It's going to be generational. No different from other cultural differences among people. I swear the companies did this so they could remove the secondary market for retro games. Now...if they release that will ALWAYS be able to play the games you bought, different story. But kids don't care and until they do, digital is going to be the endgame. No ohysixal anything, pure profits to the companies and gamers with nothing to show for their collections. Almost like what happened to CDs and music, only you don't need proprietary equipment to play an audio file.
  13. Thanks guys! Has anybody tried to open it up to clean it?
  14. We have a Wii, amd finally found a Wii U at a fantastic price. It's quite dusty and I'd like to clean it up but the process to open it seems a bit tricky...maybe just hit the vents with some compressed air and vacuum? It's missing the stylus but we have one for the 3DS. Is it just as simple as unplug the Wii and put in the Wii U?..I read that somewhere. Looking forward to all the Nintendo series my fam loves, any other suggestions? Tips? Thanks in advance!
  15. It's largely nostalgia for me. Although my first system was a later model 2, that summer of 89 where I learned and drooled over the model 1 iconic Genesis was awesome. If you're a collector, it makes a difference. For pure gameplay though, I prefer my model 2. Cleaner interface, sturdier control ports...the buttons are better. It's a great lil compact unit as well and combines with the CD and 32X better IMO as well.
  16. Nice set up! Organized, clean and accessible. Well done!
  17. Thanks buddy...cool! The one I'm thinking of with The Great One is a hilarious piece of work, all from my memory from back in the 80s where uou'd sometimes only see a commercial a few times before it was gone for good, lol.
  18. Looks like a strong possibility, and my concern for scratching the top of the deck with the controllers seems taken care of by a mesh bag that rests between the case halves...have you had any issues with it? Hmmm...looks like no shippimg to Canada. Drat.
  19. I'm not so worried ahout my toaster as I will just boil it again if it ever needs it. It's those systems that you can easily remove the connectors for, that's my focus. But for more sporadic cleaning, this NES one looks ok.
  20. Good to know. Maybe I'll try the Genesis one first and some cart cleaners. Those reviews of the NES cleaner getting stuck inside the machine is kinda freaky.
  21. I just can't find this on youtube but I'm sure somebody has it...it's the TV commercial for Freedom Fighter and it's endorsed by Wayne Gretzky of all people! Does anybody remember this piece of nostalgia gold? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  22. I picked mine up for 50 CDN the other week, have yet to power it up. Soon Anybody have some good ideas for a carrying case? I liked the RDI ones for the Nintendo minis but so far haven't seen anything yet along those lines.
  23. I literally laughed out loud at the asking price. I remember that debacle from last summer...all we need now is a "buyer accepted offer" so it can forever be questioned 'just how much' this cart sold for. Wait: did he actually steam off the label to get at the screw to show the eprom!?!?!?BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! This thing just gets better amd better!!!
  24. I had read about Pong when I was a kid but never actually played it until I tried a Coleco Telstar. That was...1985 or 86. We were big on Colecovision at the time but loved all games. I wasn't a huge fan but would love to find a nice working unit to revisit. It had three games, one was a one player Handball game. The paddles never seemed to jitter, either.
  25. Thanks for all the hard work you do for us, Al. It's very much appreciated!
