  1. For as much as we made fun of it bitd, 2600 Jungle Hunt really did provide us with a crazy amount of challenge and fun. I can still hear the final 'boss' music right now as I type this...haven't played the game in decades! That says something.
  2. Wasn't there a pile of basically new XEGSs found in Colombia orn something that were out in ebay for a very reasonable price? Kinda kick myself for not getting one but then...I don't really need to go down that rabbit hole.
  3. I salute you for all of your hard work over the years. May 2019 be a great year for you!
  4. Literally remember how amazed we were to find out about Snail Maze...if it was mentioned in the manual, we obviously missed it!
  5. Has anybody replaced the emulator with something different yet? How much of the problems lie with the emulator rather than the romz?
  6. Anybody remember the Ram Jam video game wrasslin from the Mickey Rourke movie The Wrestler? In classic cheapshit Hollyweird style, they just hacked an Acclaim WWF Wrestling for NES with graphics for thw characters in the movie..pretty funny scene too, and even ten years ago was painfully realistic when you see the washed up wrestler trying to get a young kid to play an old video game. Too bad it was that shitty one, lol. That's still not the best part: as always, they put in the VCS Pac-man sound effects! Who wants to pay royalties anyway, lol...go check it out if you haven't seen it yet, great stuff. KIN KORN KARN
  7. Thanks for the info, guys, much appreciated. I just noticed he VecFever thread...yes, I hope that fate fares well and the designer decides to make another batch at some time...really looks awesome.
  8. Thanks! Just did some quick reading on that VecFever. The Multicart 3.0 is what I'll be going with, but it's preloaded, right? I can't add any roms to it? A nice package with a bunch of homebrews, at that price it looks to be great value. But still would like the option to expand it.
  9. That's the multicart? I have yet to pick one up...any links on youtube or anything? Thanks for the info!
  10. These pieces if shit are clogging shelvss in every store I see...wanting 140 CDN for it is just killing this turd even further. More so, when you ask retailers why it's not selling? Word of mouth, they tell me...hilarious! Never again shall I doubt the power of those fans who make it their mission to bring the truth to the masses: this thing would have been a screaming succes if Sony hadn't cheaped out. I would certainly have bought one. Instead, they're shelfwarming like pet rocks. Better luck next time...I am eagerly waiting to see if Sega will learn their lessons with their upcoming Genesis mini. Hopefully so!
  11. With the amazing Stramashzone out now, has there ever been a homebrew of a really close Asteroids port? That would be a dream for me! PS, why I love Vectrex is because I love vector graphics, and that portable screen. I've always loved it, always will. Wish there were more qualified guys out there to service them, though.
  12. My only retro faming gift to me will be to ensure I get a few hours to play on these cold dark nights! It's the best time of the year for retrogaming, for me anyways. Probably stemming from my Christmas 83 gift of a Colecovision...life hasn't been the same since! Hope you all have a fanstastic holiday season!
  13. Cool video! But for the love of all that's holy, get that Coleco off the carpet?
  14. Is it possible to hack an SNES mini to play NES roms? ...if so, anybody here try?
  15. Still none here in Canada but we have tins of 8bitdo stuff. I saw a while whack of euro versions in Germany over the summer and they were similarly priced. In retrospect I 'could' have waited the two+ years to get another controller...but the limited release at the time, I couldnt pass up the one I bought on ebay...marked up price but not ridiculous. I will definitely pick a few spares up if I find them though. At the retail price, it's priced just right. In fact, the NES mini is ten bucjs less than what it released for two years ago...most likely to help move the SNES classic, but then you get two pads with that. Is it true you can mod the SNES mini to play NES roms too?
  16. Would it have been a true portable?...or just a small plug in, just like the Vectrex?
  17. Regarding Ms Pacman, I thought there were no patterns because the ghosts are randomized? I didn't realize it could be racked up like Pac Man. I can barely get to 60k!...and we've been playing for decades? To our credit, we play those games without the benefit of modern tips. I play Galaga with pure twitch skills every time...whether I put up a good score is entirely dependent on how I do on the bonus levels....which drive me insane! How many times I missed just one bloody guy...it's like video game yips? Any good resources for better play techniques for Galaga and Ms Pac Man? Maybe it's time to start playing smarter, lol.
  18. See, I don't believe he doctored any footage...he didn't need to. He cheated by using MAME...my guess? Because he's lazy. And could have cared less about sourcing a real machine, which I'm also sure he could have done. He just didn't see the worth of it. Now he has paid the price. As a Canadian alive in the 80s, when Ben Johnson was caught using drugs, it mattered not that he could do it clean ..while he tried, of course, unsuccessfully. He just couldn't step away from the spotlight until he was banned. Even then he resorted to publicity stunts afterwards. Laughably, the current 100 metre record holders all have faster times than Johnson and yet nobody bats an eye, lol...they're cheating too. Nobody cares as long as you don't get caught, it would seem. For a long time I was really into the who Lance Armstrong controversy until I realized: these 'champions'? With that mindset of win at all costs? They are medically, mentally sick people. They are. And I have no need to spend time researching that...why do they do what they do? They're sick. End of story. So many better things to focus on in life than that stuff.
  19. Elimination round? Sounds awesome! Also, maybe some quick 'series' rounds, lile all the Gaidens, or other series similar in theme. And some one-off challenges for single games...with fan donated prizes? Lol...if some guys are up for it, I'd think about donating some stuff.
  20. Asponge, now there's a name I remember! Glad to see you're taking the reigns. I just have to figure out how to post pics from my phone and I will be more active. I have not posted any scores in some time. Whatever you do, I would like to see the ability to 'challenge' high scores by simply posting them into threads for expired games removed. We all know the scores are kinda secondary to the enjoyment of the games, but part of the excitement is getting your best score in before it locks. And then those who were lucky enough to be part of the chase don't have to watch that top score bumped by somebody putting up a better score outside of those parameters. Personally, without the deadline, it removes some of the fun. And the feeling that the only way to try to better your score is to wait until it comes up again in the que...definitely makes you want to try again amd again, especially if you are in the running. Anyways, looking forward to mixing it up soon! Seasons or not, I'm easy...other than the above point. It's not a dealbreaker, of course.
  21. I can say that all you have to do is keep the boxes away from sunlight and water and they will outlive you. My VCS box looks as new as the day it was made, although because I didn't protect it from damage and dings over the years, that shows. But if I haf it in safe storage, it would still look brand new. Like all my board games and other stuff. If you take care of it, it's fine. Like comics. Like everything. Metal box?...for a cardboard box? You can put sock puppets in a metal box, though.
  22. Nintendo did the minis about as right as it gets. The SNES was 100% for me...other than the game selections, but but were great. PS Mini had a lot to live up to and Sony never gave it a chance to be what the Nintendo minis were. Sony botched the games selection...had it not, it would be in the same sold-out scenario as the NES Mini a couple years ago. Sony can blame themselves but chances are they will just let it go away after initial sales fade.
  23. My first experiences of arcade games was in books...at least the popular ones. All the local pizza jointa and what not had kinda obscure games, nothing I would think to be a favorite. I just loved them all, if I ever got to see one in the wild. This may sound strange coming from a guy whose first memory of an arcade gamr was Asteroids, but the first 'fave' I can remember...that I actually went out of my way to play and would always get my quarters first? Sega Quartet! I still get the feels from that soundtrack, lol.
  24. Just not entuusiastic for this anymore, but it has sparked some desire for me to round out my PS1 collection. Lots of great games for it...and yes, some heavy hitters made this mini. Just not enough to make it worthwhile, personally. To do that would have required two Dualshocks along with Resident Evil 2 and both Gran Turismo games. Tomb Raider...Parappa or UmJammer. Einhander. Wipeout. Driver. Tenchu. But for a neat little colectible, maybe...at a discounted price. And I was a bit surprised to see both Nintendo minis in stock at local Walmarts. Done right, these minis can really get me motivated to buy.
