1. ...people didn't like Frontline for Coleco?...now, I recall some scathing reviews back in the mags of the day, but with the Super Action Controllers, that game was great!...a little like a primitive Commando....grenades, drive two different types of tank, shoot one direction while moving in another..this game was pretty sweet...the difficulty did ramp up pretty harsh after the fourth level, I recall...but man, Coleco did WWAAAAYY worse games than Frontline!
2. ..hmm....8bit Atari..smells like a bomb, sad to say!...I mean, those of us here will truly appreciate and buy such a product, but what's the mainstream going to think of it? People buy the old Atari stuff cause it sold like wildfire and was a truly unique system of it's time. What everyday Joe at Walmart is going to say, Hey!...I LOVED the Atari 800!!...I'll buy this!!! I can't see the higherups in any company ok'ing such a move. I'm sure it could be a great product (done well, not like FB1), but it'll be niche. Give it a side effect of FULL 2600 compatablility, and I'm interested.
3. No disrespect here, Curt, but come on now....sort of? What other possible reason would one want to buy another version of the Flashback if it DIDN'T have some sort of cart port standard?..either it would, or I wouldn't really consider buying one...I mean, of course I'd buy one!!...however, there's only so much appeal to picking up another console based system without a substantial upgrade. A cart port would seal the deal, and we all know it would see like GANGBUSTERS. Not to spoil surprises as it will be a year away anyway, but after I buy the FB2, I'm not going to froth at the mouth for another year to purchase a slot-less FB3. But I'll buy one.
4. I hope the sound bug doesn't effect sound in the plug in games..with the carts. And I hope the bug is out for the 25th release date in Canada.
5. ...so I bought the wireless Ms Pac just to 'complete' my namco collection...yes, the price was WRONG, B----H, but oh well. Many things improved. I haven't dealt with the blatant control problems of the wired version in Ms Pacman...but it's still not what it 'could' be. Enough. The 'newer' versions of Bosconian and Rally X are far superior to the first wired version...although a new DigDug coulda worked out...lol. Pole Position control is not as good as the wired version..it seems the stick has to be rotated quite a bit further before the car turns as compared to the wired version, and thus you lose the pinpoint control of the first one...but they fixed the bug which didn't allow you to complete the race and record a time in the high score....there seems to be a mod on the difficulty of the game which was ramped up slightly. Galaga plays ok, better on the wired, again. Xevious, no change. Ability to save scores is a good idea, and the wireless thing ain't bad but wasn't neccessary. The unit on the whole looks just great, though, and was a big reason why I bought it...it just looks cool! ...eagerly awaiting Flashback 2.0 here in Canada..hope we don't get the sound chip problem by the 25th release date.
6. ..i've only heard of the 25th release date at EB, and have pre ordered 2 just in case!...can't wait...but I am. Blah!
7. ...here's another question: At what point would one have to consider the effects of humidity on their VCS?...I'm now living near the ocean on the east coast, and I wonder if things like just leaving the windows open will allow corrosion to occur on the motherboard/sisterboard... ..anybody know?...thanks!
8. ...awesome!...I figured that I could use some math to figure it out...since it's an emulation, I couldn't read the manual for help...as a matter of fact, I don't know what an "okie" is considerd, the four shapes in the plus sign shape, I assume...I'm going to get to work on it. I love the Rubik's cube!...one summer not too long ago I decided to figure out a good way to solve it. I always get stumped solving the bottom layer...unless I have my cheat sheets...but I'm working on it. Thanks for the Okie tips!
9. Todd and several others, including The 5th Ghost, have maxed the game at 999,999. However, I bet they couldn't tell you how many buckets were lost in the process . That TG bounty is much to difficult. The one for maxing out Seaquest and River Raid(last year) and Robot Tank without losing even one life are also too difficult for me. There is also one for Chopper Command. Maybe I can do that one. I maxed it just for fun a couple of weeks ago and only lost 6 lives total. Could be done! I don't know if I could hold my temper if I played for hours perfectly and I lost a life right near the end. 894536 I just checked out some scores from that Todd Rogers guy and let me tell you, he's on another planet!...I can't imagine getting that high (on scores*)...I remember think 300k in Chopper was unbelievable...I guess that all the activision games "suffer" from that high end function...alright, back to the games! 894681 Ahahahaha yeah, Todd Rogers is definitely not human. He played Journey Escape for 85 hours straight... 894701 ...alright, that's just not right. 85 hours...not right! Ha!
10. I hope they come to Canada, I'd buy one for the hell of it!
11. HELP! PLEASE!!!...oh God, Please help!!!...haha!...oh well, looks like nobody plays this game.

13. So technically, all you have to do is master levels 7 and 8 and it's just a matter of keeping up as long as you can...cool. But the levels themselves increase the overall number of bombs, correct? Do that ever 'time out' and become static?
14. It's been a while since I've posted some really high scores on this puppy, and I can't remember this: Which wave is technically the fastest?..the one which the game simple due to hardware limitations cannot go any faster?...or does it somehow just keep getting faster?...I'm a 6000 pt player, and it seems like the speed tops out around wave 7 or so. Any help?
15. I've been playing this addictive little game on the Activision compiliation on the gameboy advance, and can't figure it out...I always seem to get close, but no cigar! Any tips?...I can beat a few stages, but the first one stumps me! Any general strategies without spelling too much out? Thanks!
16. ...anybody remember that old episode of Knight Rider where Michael was playing Pac Man in K.I.T.T., and used that cheesy little red-voice box as the screen?...the car's driving itself (of course*) and Michael's holding the old CX-40 and playing a game!...I thought it would be a dream come true...I think that may have been the same episode where the computer nerd hacker "took over" KITT and used an Atari joystick to drive it!!!...that was a joke!... ..anybody remember that?
17. Yep, The 2600 has a REALLY washed-out version of the Coleco Vision version. The coleco version is next, I just gotta buy a coleco system (anyone wanna sel me one?). There is less than half as many screens to go threw and just speed increments and repittion as the difficulty. @yup - I beat it on real hardware, I refuse to emulate this game as I have owned a copy from the age of 3 years to current and forever more as it is the best game ever And the reason it is such a big deal to me is cause this game and the Christmas I got it is one of my earliest memories I have. If a game ever eludes you for 20 years you will totally understand (God forbid it does, Cause it will drive you nuts untill you beat it.) @All Users - Thanks for the kind words, Beating this game was a HUGE goal for me. 894096 I had the old Coleco game, and while it wasn't really tough, jumping was a huge pain in the ass, as you couldn't really judge weather or not your Smurf would do a small hop or large leap to the right...all accomplished by pressing the stick up...I recall having to duck before every jump, as this seemed to "clear" the memory and you'd do a small hop. The music in the coleco game was pretty good for the time, and the bats were crazy. Finishing it wasn't all that exciting. But congrats on your game!...I have a buddy who took 12 years to finish Pool of Radiance on the C64...due to missing a small door on one map....it feels sweet to beat an old nemesis.
18. I shall now pray. Kaboom ALWAYS brings me back to the atari!...it's one of those games that, once you get good at it, you can always get better...and the better you get, the more hillarious it is for people watching you play!...my friends are kinda scared of it, really...they average about 300 points a game!!!....it's very relaxing, come to think of it. Zen-like! My fave game on the atari.
19. Ranting I may be but I am honest as well. To all diehard gamers, save your cash, and go with the Namco Museum. But don't take my word for it; buy a wired Ms Pacman at Walmart, you can take it back no questoins asked. Sorry there, Snoopy Guy, but if you thinkthat the arcade version of Ms Pacman and this piss poor excuse for an emulation are "so close you can't notice the difference" then you're too young to remember playing it in the arcade or you're just not picking up on the glaring differences (sound, playabililty, graphics, not much*). The Pacman stick may not have been your cup of tea, but at least Pacman moved where you wanted him to, joystick wasn't an issue. Some folks just don't like Digdug...you're one of them. Unless they really did an overhaul for the wireless (which I'll have to buy now just for collectiblility), then I can't see anyone wanting to buy these who TRULY loved and appreciated the original. Proper playtesting and quality control would have saved the world this dog of a stick! Guess we'll agree to disagree on this one. Bring on Flashback 2.0!
20. Indeed, I simply meant some sort of visual indication where a room is...leaving the Spider Room, on the left wall....into the Treasure Room, on the right side of the Shining Light Room....that kinda thing...maybe the programmers blew too much memory making that neat-o looking hole left in the wall after the grenade is used to enter the Temple....anyway, just a little gripe.
21. Surely this is a joke!...unless they "re-released" the Ms Pac Man Namco stick which was available last Christmas, I warn people to stay away. I have them both; now they're just paperweights on the shelf. While the Ms Pac isn't total crap, it's just lacking in so many areas: Pole Position, for some reason, doesn't record best times nor does it allow you to actually finish a race, at least, the time just keeps going!...NO replay value, but the control is spot on...even the emulation lacks. Xevious, Mappy are ok if you like these games, however, the fire button is just not up to snuff. Layout for bombing in Xevious is crap. Galaga is fun, again, that fire button...plus, the emulation is not very accurate. Sounds suffer and the game is quite a bit easier than better quality emulations. At least the controls worked well. Which brings me to the king of the krap: Ms Pac Man! If you love this game at all, stay very far away from this lemon version. NOT accurate, and to add insult to injury, the joystick for some reason will reverse itself in direction whenever you try to pre-push the stick in another direction...a great tactic in Ms Pac ruined by poor emulation...didn't they playtest this thing?...I brought it back 3 times till I found one that was 'acceptable'..and even then it was too frustrating, getting high scores and then having the controller turn you into the monsters for no reason. Sob! Our answer was simply to pick up Namco Museum for PS2, with a Soul Caliber 2 joystick. Problems solved, and these emulations are, for what I consider, very good. The only thing you can blame for poor scores is yourself!....the gameplay was flawless, even though Pole is too tough to play with a stick. Plus, the price of the stick and the game cost about as much as that crappy Namco stick. I'm sure that there is even more accurate emultion of these games, but the Museum is good enough for me. It may seem negative for the Namco plug and plays, but it's the sad truth. Quality control on these things is non existant....they could learn from the Flashback and Flashback 2 lessons...can't wait to get mine!
22. I agree with every last one of you!...I don't know why parents didn't like their kids playing video games, and it's funny how when you get older you can appreciate those days even more. I still remember seeing Chopper Command for the first time. I could have crapped my pants! Yep, my poor cousins knew that when I came over, it took all of about 3 seconds for me to start "hinting" about the Atari...but usually, it was the parents who stopped us from playing. Like anything else, we had to "get it out of our system"...which was why it was the kid who never had a system of his own who was the biggest "freak out when at your friends place gamer". Then I got a Coleco and the tables turned!...it was I who was to say, "...nah, fellas, let's just go ride bikes or something..."...ha!...those were the days! Now that I have no real desire to play modern games, the games on the Atari I loved to bash on during the NES heyday are the ones I love to play...very few NES titles make me want to play them over and over. It's the simplicity and short attention span and sheer competitiveness of those games that is the hook. I still remember laughing out loud at the thought of playing Atari in the late 80's when you could play Metroid, a game with an acutal point!....and who cares about how many points you could score in Chopper Command, anyway?...how things change. I can't wait till Christmas to bring over the new Flashback and have a great time playing those old great games...
23. I don't know...I was actually contemplating just buying a Jr instead of getting my sixer fixed...anyway, I sent my sixer to Video61 and Lance got it working great. Of course, I still have to treat it with the utmost care, and I can still get it to reset if I wiggle the AC jack in a certain way....the bottom line is, unless you really know what you're doing, swapping parts may just give you a major headache. I paid for my sixer, and paid for the repair. Now it works great (and I'm going to resolder the AC jack just to make it TOTALLY solid...that is, if it gets worse) and I'm living the good life. I did the same stuff everybody here mentioned. Yes, it's true that cleaning can do wonders and to be honest, I thought that my system was flawless...just needed new joysticks!..I even went so far as to take apart a NEW CX-40 , removed the tape on the fire button...finally, it was while playing Midnight Magic that I really was stumped...plus, during the winter scene in Enduro, you couldn't see your car! Repair costs are quite reasonable in my opinion, and shipping sucks if you're here in Canada like me....but still, people spend tons on other hobbies, and this is pretty much a one time expense for an Atari that should last a long time. Sorry about the length of this post!
24. I'm giving this game another go after finding it in a loval shop....I remember not having the instructions, and man, that was a pain. I just wonder though, you guys out there who figured it out...HOW!!?..I mean I couldn't even figure out that on the "marketplace" (sure didn't look like one to me*) had two "sheiks" (again, good luck!)...now I don't mean to hack on graphics, because I know the times, but still....how anybody figured out that game is beyond me. After looking through the FAQ and manual I figured out some stuff, but to get it all would be just frustrating!...since the game is so old, I decided to just go ahead and cheat. I retrospect, I enjoy it much more now...I can't believe they tried to make that game as complex as it was!...I'm giving it a chance, like Adventure....I figured if all of you love it so much I MUST be missing out on something. But I draw the line at Superman!...**...back to Raiders, was it too much to include DOORS?...I mean, come on. That's about the only real complaint I have in retrospect.
25. Unfortunately, I'm thinking that the problem may be a bit bigger than you may think. I had a similar problem occur, and it actually turned out to be a "bank-switching" problem...since you have all the goods in your PC cabinet, perhaps in all the soldering and such something went wrong. All I know is that when you're having joystick problems the type you describe, a simple swapping of this and that may be akin to trial and error when the problem could be more serious. That being said, if the whole thing worked properly before you made the mod into the cabinet, I have no idea. Are you using an original Atari power supply?...I know this may be a point of debate, but ever since I encountered a problem with my system that I had used an all purpose multi jack power supply, I now will ONLY use the original stuff. Good luck at any rate, I think it's a great idea. I know what a pain in the ass it is to have your stuff not work properly!
