...the Dambusters game commercial for Coleco...that and BC's Quest for Tires...Coleco had this dumb way to advertise commericials without ANY screen shots...except for the cheesy one that had a bunch of games on it..."Your vision, OUR vision!...COLECOVISION!"....man, that one made ya feel funny in the pants allright.

 

Remember those old McDonald's commercials with the Space Invaders tie in?...good ol saturday morning cartoon commercials...speaking of which, those crappy cartoons!...Pole Position, Donkey Kong and Q Bert....terrible!

..great site, lots of info!...old skoo gamer, and here it's like there are many like me...although I must admit I'm not down with the whole differences with emulation and all that stuff.

 

Back in the day (like, 84 or so) I got my Coleco, but I wanted a 2600, just like my cousins!...well, it being the days of the shakeout, games were so few and far between. I still remembering when playing video games during those days where you just couldn't find any!...until Nintendo of course. Too funny!...I remember the Dragon's Lair for ADAM being the holy grail at the time...

 

But I digress. I loved NES, and as the newer systems came out, I had that oldskoo feeling!...even in 92 when I made a killer find of 3 VCS's (non of which worked*) and a box of around 150 games...I traded a Super NES and Super Contra for it!....then I picked up a 2600 Jr at a pawn shop for the decent CX40 and a system that actually worked! And for a while, it was all good!...I had every damn game I could dream of (even some which I see now have become quite collectable, although no Chuckwagon....I had all those crummy Zellers games, and Porky's...man, that game sucked)...I was hooked on a different game every week! Plus, when the cousins came around, it was Warlords battles all day (surprisingly so good, although I do believe there was a cheat to it for the guy in the lower left....he couldn't defend against a certain shot, dooming him first out all the time...anybody remember this?).

 

...time went on and I made a fatal error of lending it all (garbage bag full) to a chick I knew who's Dad was into Atari....and I lost touch with her, and my bag o' Atari!...at the time, it didn't seem so bad, but now I have the craving!...so after a few years of trying to track down my stuff, I gave up. It was Playstation time, after all.

 

But then I got rid of all my pristine PS stuff and traded it in for an Advance SP which is more my style..I'm not into collecting systems anymore, just cause they don't compare to the oldskoo stuff. Serious! Of course, now I dropped some more cash on a new PS2 and some controllers SOLELY to play the Activision, Intellisvision, Atari and Namco collecetions!...will I ever learn!

 

Anyways, it was last year's piss poor Namco collection plug and play joysticks which got the ball rolling again...all last Christmas we played the hell out of Galaga and Ms Pac, even though that joystick sucked royal ass (anybody who's tried it agrees) but then we got to thinking....picked up the PS2 Namco museum with a 20 buck Soul Caliber joystick for a more arcade feel...and BOOM, instant satisfaction!

 

SO....

 

I decided to not completely recollect the old 2600 stuff, due to space, cost and addictiveness*....but I stumbled upon a dude selling an atari with 15 games in the paper....75 bucks canadian, which I realize is kinda steep, but lo and behold...each game with box, manual...some minor damage, but cool anyway...some games had to be cleaned a bit to get them to work, but the real prize was a (what I know now from this site as) a 'heavy sixer'...atari-wong on the sticker below, in fantastic shape...just cleaned it up and it looks new!...no real contollers, good paddles though...nick in the power supply cable...no real problem.

 

So now I'm in the hunt again for my faves: Kaboom!, Chopper Command, Robot Tank (old fave) and some original sticks. Once I have those, I'll be happy! The collections on the ps2 are good, but yes, I can tell the difference. Plus, you NEED those original sticks, and Kaboom is terrible without paddles....so I play them on the ps2 just to remember em, but some you simply NEED a 2600. Period! With good original sticks.

 

...so it's nice to see some guys into the 2600!...I'm glad to be here, and I'll be asking some questions here and there. Hopefully, I won't get too into the collecting side again, if only because I have too many hobbies on the go right now!

 

Anyways, that's where I'm coming from. Plus, I thought the idea of the Flashback was great, but I along with everyone here think that they should just re-release a system that plays the old games. Period! This Flashback 2 will also leave a lot to be desired. I'll stick to the emulations on the ps2 for now, that atari anthology has a ton of games on it! I was bured on those crappy Namco plug n plays....no more!

 

Although it would be so sweet if Flashback 2 has the ability to play the old carts. I ain't holding my breath.

They should be NTSC since videogames here are usually always imported directly from the US.

 

  If I find it's worth the trouble Ill buy some of the rarest ones and keep them until I go to the US again, then I'd sell them.

 

How much do you think Assault, Condor Attack and Karate could fetch each if they are in fact NTSC and the real deal. (no boxes on those though).

Well, you've got two at rarity 9 and one at rarity 10. I recall a boxed Condor Attack popping up on eBay recently and it went for several hundred dollars (can't recall the amount exactly). It seems like there are more people interested in the rarer stuff right now who also have the money to bid seriously on them. Karate and Condor Assault will go for big money each. I'm guessing easily over $200 on each title, but I don't know what the current market seems to command. No doubt there are other people here who could give you a better idea.
