  1. Bah! What started out as a nice, simple thread... Also, here is the most recent, and unfortunate, turn in the Thrust+ ongoings, aka "The Sirens of Prepay": http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15174. The main disapointment is that Jahfish hasn't posted, although I'll bet he is aware. And for the record, it is a frigging shame a nice character like Thomas is in any way tied to the whole thing. I can't wait to play Thrust+...
  2. Not to overstate the obvious, but is this, then, the only known copy of Mangia in NTSC? Wow! Congrats.
  3. I would then cite the addage "the proof is in the pudding," but rather your post only serves to highlight the unfortunate degree to which this project is out of your hands as well, instead of how hard you've tried to get it done. My apologies if the inference was taken otherwise. That being said, I wish you did have more control over this, Thomas, as you have always been a stand-up guy who makes some great stuff for this small community.
  4. Running an expo? Alex and Albert posted photos of themselves putting these together the night before a show months ago. This is all about dedication. I think what happened here is similar to the whole thing with Tom / Junie's: cash upfront lowers the incentive to complete a project. However, Jahfish, unlike Tom, is a regular on these boards so I am fairly surprised that he has so little concern for his reputation. More shocking is that Thomas has not pushed harder to get it done. I'd also like to see a list of what has been shipped. There is a fair amount of $ riding on this from everyone, and a bit of honest communication would keep me from also asking for mine back.
  5. Hey thanks for the info. Yeah, the switchbox does seem to be very pickey and the colors are a bit washed out, but what the hell. It is odd, because sometimes I have to actually turn off and on my new TV to get cable (ie CNN) to work after playing the CV, which is something I've never seen before. If only there was a simple way to play more games in a simple, easy-to-use format. Now that would rock
  6. This was Tom at Junie's Creations. I still think it was a great idea.
  7. Yes, please. The 9-pin Y cord I won off eBay yeilds similar results as above, i.e. it does nothing. Why would you not want to use all the pins when making one of these?
  8. Answering my own question: no. Somehow it has begun to work, and I'm not asking questions
  9. Hello - I have just purchased a Colecovision, and am not able to get a clean, non-rolling picture on my TV. The seller lived in Canada, and the system has text in English and French. Is this a PAL system? *bites lip* Thanks in advance,
  10. Hi - I finally have some time today to mod every system within reach for composite video If someone could provide or direct me to some info on modding either of these systems, I'd appreciate it. Also, I _finally_ got my VCS composite up and running. If anyone would like some help from one soldering n00b to another, please PM me Thanks in advance,
  11. Thanks--the video amp from Radio Shack drives the signal, but just barely on my TV: it takes several seconds and a few tries to get it up, but man is it crisp. Sort of. I resoldered the setup with thin wiring and little solder. I now have a wavering image, with a fair amount of garbage on the left side. Also, the picuture has shifted down and to the right. Where on the board do I go to work on this? Again thanks, I'll put up a photo of what I have if anyone is interested. This is a fun hack, but since there are so many ways to do it I'm not sure where to go from here.
  12. Boo hoo. This would all be over if Tom would write an email or post, and wasting time conjecturing with nice people on a computer screen is not worth it. First: Dan, the Goat store sold a wicked Jag controller back in the day (and may still). Your empathy is understandable, but you have run an up-front business from the start and have always been accessable, so you may not be defending a person of your ilk. Stan, you are the most active member on this board, and therefore what you type carries heavily on a place I like to lurk and post from time to time. I am currently trying to mod my 2600 for composite and it is a bear of time and effort to get it right, so I sympathise that Tom put forth a difficult proposition, but I did not offer to accept cash to do it for other people almost six months ago. He placed the responsibility on himself. Junie's Creations doesn't feel like a labor of love anymore, just a nice guy who couldn't hack it and has my cash and my Atari 2600. Bah. And for the record, "bullshit" is in the OED. Unless Alex/Albert chop it I won't.
  13. Bullshit this was a registered business, as there is is no sales tax added in checkout, and bullshit he declared bankruptcy even if it was. The only people chasing him are apparently 3/4 persons from a video game message board, not registered creditors. He has no one to declare bankruptcy from. Lets look at it correctly.
  14. What if I was able to make / obtain one of the 16-pin-to-9-pin jobbies, any luck on plugging it into a 2600 then? I'm guessing I could just cut off the end, get the pinout schmatics for the Apple and leave a few wires off (i.e. the second button, etc.), then tap it into a 9-pin 2600 cable, but I really have no idea what I'm doing. However, if someone can build a glove controller: http://www.galeon.com/mousetopad/glove.html, then I may have a shot Thanks again, can't wait to get this thing...
  15. That's it! That's the one I've been trying to get working again. This is the best stick ever, and before it broke I actually thought I had a shot at the Thrust+ contest.
  16. Dan it is noble of you to stick up for Tom. Frankly he has always seemed to be a nice guy to me too. However him having all the cash up front _and_ being in financial straits provides very little incentive to complete these orders. I would imagine an incentive could be produced, but that is really a bit much. However, I would consider making a move relatively soon, again, depending on the level of honest communication I feel I am having with Tom and the number of parties that will come on board with me.
  17. So with the exception of several people who have had their packages for well over a month, the rest have not shipped, despite the following assertion from the 23rd of Sept? : (Jahfish)
  18. Hey thanks. After a little help in this http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15296 thread, it looks like an Apple IIe stick. I guess there is a chance I can just clip a few wires and rig it to an Intelly or CV or 2600, but I'm not too confident. Either way it does look pretty hip.
  19. [bump] I have a bunch of classic stuff, and or a copy of Battlesphere Classic, etc. to trade...
  20. Thanks for the info. D'oh! I traded this for a Super Cobra handheld, thinking I could somehow rig it to play on either the Intellivision or CV or something. Any luck in using it for anything but the Apple?
  21. After much cursing and a fair amount of rosin fumes up my nose I got the video mod on my Junior from Ben Heckerdorn's awesome site: http://www.classicgaming.com/vcsp/ up and running. Sort of. It works fine on one TV I have, but my main television cannot display the video. I'm guessing, similar to the mod here on AAge, that I have to boost the signal somehow. My TV is a new RCA 27" and I have tried running it directly into the back of the TV, and through a video tuner box thing but so far no luck. The audio works fine, and I can get a "pop" indicating that the TV is recieving a signal, but nothing else. I'm all out of ideas and have no idea how to build a signal booster but would give it a shot if anyone could point me in the right direction. The most frustrating thing is that this is my only system, having sent my spare off to Junie's Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  22. I just traded for the stick below. It is called a MultiJoy, and the guy who traded it to me says it has a 16-pin connection. Any idea what system this is for, and what system I might be able to mod it for? Thanks in advance
  23. @Zero: Thanks. I had hoped to pick up a multicart so I could nail the system, an Intellivision (+ Intellicart) and 2600 (+ Cuttle Cart) into a project box. With AV outs of course Where can I find a guide to modding the INTV and Coleco for AV out?
  24. Yes! The Powerplayer is my fav controller as well. The only complaint I have is that the stick spins on the base, making games like Thrust a _bit_ more difficult. It is by far the most responsive stick I've got, although if I ever fix my Wico handheld, shaped like the Epyx above but very responsive, that may change. On a _slightly_ related note: what system is this for? (pic attached) I just traded for it and haven't gotten the actual thing yet, but ws told it is 16-pin. Dunno
