I just got a new PAL one from Taiwan with serial: 72RHA 840024150 254
-
As promised:
serial on computer - 72RHA 840024150 254
serial on box - 72RHA 840011679 254

I have been using two cables (composite and s-video) for a year or so now, and both are superb! Finally no vertical zigzags etc. I use both together with RetroTink pro. Basically, way way better than Lotharek cable; no comparison.

Hi All,
Has anybody found a plastic good box protector for 800xl to be bought in Europe? I would like to protect one of my better boxes ?
Thank you,
m.

Will do tomorrow in the morning;-) this is the NL PAL computer; what I liked the most is the warranty stamped from the shop in Amsterdam

I truly believe the owner was genuine; mystery will not be solved then
the computer has plastics on all the solver keys; brand new.
-
I met the owner; genuine one. I don't think he bought a different box to sell it for the price I got it. then, the numbers are very close, including the same week (you would need to look a bit too get the same week).

Hi All,
I have just bought Atari 800xl from the 1st owner in, basically, new condition. The only thing is the serial on the box is not matching the computer. It is the same week, but number differs a bit. Is it a common thing? or maybe the shop changed it in 80ties? interesting
Thanks,
m.

Will you be supporting VBXE graphics modes in the future? Would be so nice to play new Gacek :)

What joystick is that in the pic? The big black one.
Good eye :) its my favourite one for 8bit computing - Suzo Arcade (with metal shaft); made in The Netherlands.

Good morning,
I have recently started with N64 and RetroTink Pro (PAL via composite cable) and wanted to get your input on something
Basically, the picture on my LCD is always 720x576 (LCD native 1920 x 1080 set to aspect ratio mode) with RetroTink, which is correct for PAL. However, the actual game size (the area the game occupies) is dramatically different between games. In the attached examples, the area is just different, but there are examples like Wave Racer that the area is from top to bottom occupied (with black borders on left/right sides).
I do not know, but I was expecting the same game area across the screen. I think it was the case in the CRT times.
-
btw. I cannot launch it in Atari800MacX (ver 6.0). It loads the first screen, but it ends there
Has anybody seen it as well?
-
Super! thank you:) Are you planning to release a cart version?
-
Having a cart is not a bad thing I guess. Usually, those are created/distributed by persons involved in the project itself. I think its the best and most transparent approach. I would not mind to buy a cartridge, but from the team endorsed by the creators, especially if the release is of high quality, e.g. Time Pilot.

I am happy to say that my double shielded Hercules Workshop cables removed zig zag pattern from my stock 130XE.
I will try to do some pics. The picture quality is really nice taking into consideration its a stock 130XE.
ps. I bought Lotharek cable as thought its top quality I can get for Atari, but it turned out its not even shielded even though its says it is. Its a pity as Lotharek products are top. The description should be changed to be fully honest.

I have a visible zig-zag vertical pattern on my screen (stock Atari 130XE, Lotharek cable, s-video, Retrotink 2x pro, Nec LCD). Apart from this the colors and sharpness seem to be good. I have just ordered Hercules Workshop double shielded cables to see if this helps. Some people on the forum had good results with it. Maybe it is just Atari design thing and part of retro experience
However, it would be nice to reduce it a bit if possible without internal mods. I am keeping all machines in stock configuration. Therefore, the question: is there a way to reduce the zigzag without Atari internal mods? e.g different LCD (I assume on CRT will be way better), changes related to RetroTink, cables, etc? Thanks!
I have just tested my new Hercules Workshop double shielded cables (http://herculesworkshop.com/cgi-bin/p/awtp-product.cgi?d=hercules-workshop&id=80304) and I am very happy to report the zig zags are gone. I will try to do publish pics later one. Basically, the picture quality on my stock 130XE is similar finally to 800 (both using RetroTink Pro).

Are there maybe any news on the progress or release date?

ZX Spectrum (Time 2048) was my first 8-bit computer! Still playing on 128k; amazing platform. Sad news. Rest in peace.

I use Lotharek one (which we already know is not shielded), but already ordered Hercules Workshop one (double shielded; http://herculesworkshop.com/cgi-bin/p/awtp-product.cgi?d=hercules-workshop&id=80304), which is recommended on the forum as well.

Hi,
I have just download the latest version from above, but I experience sudden speed changes in the game, is it normal? Plays strange ;-)
Thank you, m.
