Yes, i'm using it with my 130xe.
and zigzag with Hercules are really gone? wow

As reported earlier, on my A800 (non XL) the video with Lotharek cable is very good. However, my 130XE has huge zig-zag pattern (using the same Lotharek cable). I guess the circuits of 130XE are not as well designed as 800. Anyway, has anybody manage to get rid of zig-zags using Hercules cables?

Is it still available? looks cool indeed

Thanks for all your replies! I think I will be looking to locally get a decent PAL 7800 + basic composite mode. My main machines are Atari 8-bit computers, so 7800 would be just for fun with few games
I want to keep it as simple as possible

Thank you for a tip:) so I guess PAL version + composite simple mod is the easiest way to go

Hi, I was offered a French (secam) version of 7800 with RGB scart output to buy. I am wondering if this scart has composite pins available so I can add scart/composite dongle and then connect composite to Retrotink input? Thanks!

I get nice artifacting colours from my NTSC 576NUC+ using composite on the RetroTink 2X Pro ?
Thats good to hear! thanks:) I assume you use COMB in Retro and not Auto, right?

Hi, I am looking to give some usability to my 600xl via 1064 memory module
I want to keep it stock.
Does anybody have a spare one to sell (preferably in Europe)? or the 1064 motherboard without the case?
Thanks,
Michal

It'll be just as crappy as ever, since the RetroTink can't clean up a poor video signal. But it will give you artifacting to support that alternative method of getting color on screen. However to better answer the question, it does convert the composite to HDMI, and won't look any worse than piping it in through a composite input on a TV, although maybe not as good as using an original CRT.
EDIT: Correction, I don't really know if RetroTink will actually give you artifacted colors via HDMI, perhaps someone else can chime in to verify. Technically this is usually relegated to old analog TVs and would need to be simulated when converting to digital video, which I'm not sure if the RetroTink does this.
Thank you. Do you have experience with COMB setting on RetroTink? Is there any difference in this case.

I have been successfully using RetroTink Pro with both Atari 800 and 130Xe via s-video. However, I have just got Atari 600xl and will be using stock composite (PAL version). I just wanted to check if somebody is using stock composite on 600xl (or maybe 800xl) and what are the results? Then, which setting for COMB are you using (Retro or Auto)? Thanks!

Hi, I am looking for an external RAM 320XL extension to add ram to a stock 16kb Atari 600xl. Preferably in Europe.
Thanks,

here's where I installed a UAV in my 600xl without setting up for s-video:
Thanks. I was not planning to do any modification (UAV, Svideo) except for removal of C109, and still using composite output.

I don't think they update it often; probably too busy updating everything else on the site.
This guy keeps a nice updated version in PDF form.
I have just opened it and it states most unit rev.1 (later ones rev 2) under Atari 600XL section; still small correction required

That is a January 2018 version of the FAQ.
Please refer to this website for the most Current (punzes) version.
Will it be updated on Atarimania?

Hi Larry,
I´ve updated two times a 600XL with UAV. Installation is easy like in any 800XL, but... IMHO it´s not so mandatory like with the other systems.
The 600XL has the best video circuit of all Atari XL/XE systems. The whole video involved parts are away from other buss activity traces. I never saw a 600XL with vertical banding or other disturbations (as long a good power source is used). The one and only bad thing is the capacitor C109, which causes a very unsharp picture. Just remove it and you´re done. With a slightly S-Video mod the picture quality of the 600XL is nearly perfect as with UAV. Ok, I have only experience with PAL systems here, maybe it´s a difference with NTSC.
This picture shows a solder joint where to grab the COLOR signal.
Hi, I was planning to remove only C109 and still be using composite output (I do not want to do any more modifications needed for s-video). Will it give significantly better signal? or s-video is the way forward? Thanks!

Yes version 2 is common. Only a few 600XL of the very first series were equipped with os version 1. It lacks pbi support.
Thank you for your answer, I did not know

Hi, I remember I have seen in all the documents that Atari 600XL has OS rev. 1, but I have just got one with rev.2 (PAL version made in Hong Kong; Basic is ver. B). Is it a common thing? thanks.

This upgrade is supposed to combine a 1064 type 64KB RAM upgrade, U1MB upgrade, and SIDE 3 cartridge into a single external PBI/ECI device.
The first post video was done with a stock 16KB PAL 600XL.
It would be amazing! Do we know any timeline? ;)
-
Will it require 16kb->64kb mod in Atari 600xl first? Or it will have it included as well?
-
There is already a device available from Mq user (the same as Flob game) that you can connect SNES/nes controllers. Once you have it just add 8bitdo receiver for snes and all wireless modern controllers work;)

Hi, just to be absolutely sure. This is for an Atari 800 computer correct?
Yes, I have been using it with my 800 for last year; works great!
