  1. I have just tried on my 130XE (with no tape player as its still broken) and in both scenarios (START and START/OPTION) I don't get any beep. It goes to boot screen (white square on blue screen though). I get a beep with CLOAD command. My keyboard is working ok (self test) and in general. Is it wrong? I cannot still test it with a tape player; need to fix it first.
  2. Hi, I have just got an XC11 tape player, which looks in a good condition. However, after connecting it to 130XE and switching power on, the light on the XC11 is not on and it does not respond to any button Later I have connected SIO2SD to the XC11 pass through SIO port and SIO2SD works ok (at least power is going through the XC11 SIO port). Any tips/ideas how to check/repair it? Its a pity as this is a nice player. Thanks, Michael
  3. Back in 8bit era I was using only tapes (on both Atari and ZX Spectrum; it was the main common source in my area). When I started my retro journey few years ago I was trying to repeat this approach, but after two days of fighting I bought SIO2SD However, just recently I wanted to show my sons the concept of cassettes and bought few new tape games and tape player again. I guess if I had still my old tapes I would be using them (with turbo of course) more often. Now, the original media is more for showcasing than a daily driver
  4. Do you already have any timeline for the cartridge release?
  5. I will leave it as is (stock) and will be looking for potential use maybe to connect to voice synthetizor or something cool via RS232.
  6. thanks! useful one indeed. I was looking for a good reason to use 850 but it seems its not so usable any more.
  7. thank you; this I was looking for not much use for 850 then
  8. I have found Atari 850 for a good price and I was thinking to add it to my Atari 800 as a device which will power Lotharek SIO2SD independently of Atari 800. I just don't know if it's possible? For example, my Atari 800 is powered off; I switch on power on 850, which will power SIO2SD so I can select what I want to load. Once selected I power on the computer? Will it work?
  9. Very good; no problems at all. I have been using it for around 6 months already.
  10. im using this (widely available) - RockPower NT 21 Power Supply 9V AC/2100 mA 5.5 x 2.5mm
  11. Dziekuje (thank you). I have just ordered the physical copy
  12. I am using successfully with my Atari 800 this one - RockPower NT 21 Power Supply 9V AC/2100 mA 5.5 x 2.5mm
  13. I was not aware. Thanks for sharing. I use it only for 800/130xe.
  14. I have not tried Mini (I have PRO) but Atari uses svideo or composite the same as PRO, which should be the same.
  15. I can 100% support this one super support + super products! A new Mini has very nice price, so let us support a real inventor
  16. [update - final] I moved and reconnected all the cables again and it works fully!
  17. I have connected the machine. When I start to turn it the screen got first black, but later (still turning) got ok color I think. It looks +/- like my favourite Atari 800 Thanks for help. ps. I have noticed my machine had select/option button changed... I guess will open it again and change them to the correct places
  18. right will do. This is my first XE after 30 yrs and did not remember. thanks!
  19. lool....stupid me I turned it like 100x in both directions ..:( do you have any tips to adjust it correctly now?
  20. Hi, I have just assembled back my Atari 130XE and noticed there is another screw (I don't remember I used it to open) on the right site of label (see picture; not mine, borrowed from net). The screw there is turning in circles (cannot tight it). Do you know what is it? I don't want to disassemble it again to check Thanks!
  21. I have not seen either, but read they changed somewhere in 1986 from 16 to 4 chips, which is a better/more reliable solution. Maybe its not relevant to PAL versions.
  22. Thanks for tips ? I have just opened the case and confirmed it has a first gen. Mitsumi keyboard with springs and green film its ok to type on it. Then, it has 16 RAM Mostek chips and not 4. I have read that Atari switched from 16 to 4 around 1986. Therefore, it seems its probably earlier model than 1998. Let us investigate more:)
  23. Thanks for fast answers; appreciated. Have you managed to decipher the serial number of XE series to get year and week?
