  1. Could you please let me know if this one is the latest version 4 update? thank you!:)
  2. It seems that my machine is PAL in the end with the NTSC B OS. The key repeat (video attached above - only last works in Firefox) was ok too. As I don't use tapes, but on SIO2SD and cartridges I don't see any challenges with NTSC OS on PAL machine. If I manage to get PAL OS I will compare again and let you know:) I'm curious if there are other people running NTSC OS on PAL machines and what are their conclusions?
  3. super, thank you! ? as said before, please let me know and I will test it on my 800
  4. How far are you (pre-order wise) from considering 800 cover?
  5. I can confirm the same NTSC B OS detected by your tool, Salt and by PRINT PEEK(65528) in Basic RAM is still 64k vs 48k, and GTIA reports in your tool as NTSC while in SALT and by PRINT PEEK(53268) in Basic it shows PAL one.
  6. I did a test - video attached. It looks ok to me. Does it mean my NTSC OS is not NTSC OS? The last video works in Firefox but not in Safari dont know how to fix it. IMG_2087.MOV IMG_2087.mp4 IMG_2087.mp4
  7. I have recently bought RetroTINK Pro and its really good Im using video output from A800 and the results are very good im happy! ps. and no visible lag.
  8. I will open ROM and check what do you mean by the key repeat?
  9. As mentioned in another tread: 1) first test got 1 = PAL GTIA 2) the timing was exactly the same even after 60 sec = seems to be PAL Antic 3) SALT shows TIA:PAL This means HW-Detect potentially wrongly detected GTIA as NTSC (see screenshot earlier) or the other test was wrong
  10. I have run both tests and: 1) first test got 1 = PAL GTIA 2) the timing was exactly the same even after 60 sec = seems to be PAL Antic Then, SALT is showing TIA:PAL, but OS is NTSC. Is it possible it runs ok with all PAL components and NTSC OS?
  11. I will do your tests today after work and report back im curious too
  12. I am very happy to help and test It would be super have this software running on all 8bit Ataris
  13. If I decide at some point to fix it, I will definitely take photos to document all the steps Unfortunately, will not have much time to focus on this soon
  14. Latch is all ok, but the metal spring is out (I have it in stock). The left post is gone/broken and the right one is still in place. On the left side the previous owner cut thought the plastic wall to use it as a post, but it did not work well. Thats why I removed the metal plate for now; waiting for better solution in the future
  15. Switch is there with a solder blob. It might be possible to clean it. However, my cartridge lid latch is loose (without metal plate) and therefore its difficult to close it I would need to fix both power switch and latch to make it work. I will put it on the list
  16. Have you maybe seen ready ones on the market (I have been looking now and did not see anything ready made which would fit)?
  17. Indeed, there are a lot of unnecessary switching activities and we play the cartridges (original ones). Good idea on the 9V side as I was thinking on 220v one.
  18. I fully agree and I am not planning to take it apart. Cool machine I just wanted to investigate more to know the history of my model better:)
  19. Hi All, I have a new Atari 800, which I suspect was converted to PAL from NTSC. The SALT shows TIA:PAL and NTSC B rom. Everything seem to be working ok though. Is there any way to run a software test to detect it? I do not want to fully disassemble it yet :P
  20. It is an easy solution; just to switch power on the power strip and keep the main power Atari switch ON. However, I am not sure it electrically its OK If yes, it would be a good solution to prolong its life
  21. Thanks for all the answers. I agree we could find a valid replacement on the market (its not like Vectrex one, which is a bit more complex). However, I would like to get your feedback on switching off the power via external power switch located on the power supply or even earlier on the power strip.
  22. In my Atari the previous owner already disabled the lid power cut. I can use the main one only.
  23. I was wondering how to avoid using the main Atari power switch to prolong its life; especially if switching a lot of cartridges. I have seen some people keeping their power switches always ON and using power supplies with external switches. Is it a good and viable solution?
  24. After a lot of feedback/emails/searches I have ended up with RockPower NT 21 Power Supply (9V AC/2100 mA 5.5 x 2.5mm), and it works great (including the plug). I have been looking for NT 8 everywhere in Europe, but its discontinued (confirmed by few dealers + distributor).
  25. I have just run the software on my physical Atari 800 (non XL) and the program did not detect 48k (is showing 64k) and did not detect OS ROM, which is NTSC B. Is it a known bug?
