  1. Yes, there was no video evidence. I remember at the time it said that the verification method was "referee". I assumed that there was some kind of competition but soon learned that Todd was the Twin Galaxies official who reviewed classic console scores (including Atari 2600 and Intellivision) and updated the high score database (for the record: Ron Corcoran was the person I sent my tape to...that's a whole other story). I actually found my way to Atari Age back then and basically what I read was that Todd was a great gamer with many records and was very trustworthy. So I was happy to have my score beaten by a famous gamer and I moved on. Also, here is the video of my high score: Intellivision Lock'N'Chase World Record - YouTube
  2. A few years ago on one of the Intellivision Facebook groups, Walter Day (founder of Twin Galaxies) posted that he had a few things for sale. Included was a few sets of these Intellivision trading cards. The post showed the front and back of some of them and I noted that my name was on the back of the Lock'n'Chase card! I set the world record on Lock'n'Chase back in 2002 and a few years later it was quadrupled by famous high score player, Todd Rogers. In 2018 Twin Galaxies took away all of his high scores for some cheating allegations so, officially, I am back on top. https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/lock-n-chase/intellivision Anyways, I messaged Walter Day that I'd like to buy a set and he took my address so he could send me the proper cost for shipping. But I never heard back on a cost. A few weeks later, the set of cards showed up in my mail box! I messaged Walter to say that I never paid him but I didn't hear anything from him after that. So, I guess Walter Day gifted me a set of these cards!
  3. Update: September 5, 2021: Added an owner of #5 and a picture of #6. From Left to Right: 1) BigDumer bought in a lot in Vancouver. Traded to Cmart604. 2) BigDumer spotted it on an old Facebook auction. Kamikazi26 tracked it down and bought from a pawn shop in Saskatchewan. Was then sold on IntellivisionCollector to a collector. 3) Kamikazi26 saw this on a maxsold auction in Toronto, buyer is unknown. 4) Kamikazi26 bought in a lot. Presumably he still owns it because...look at it...it's sexy! 5) BBWW bought on an etsy auction. 6) Cmart604 found in the Vancouver region.
  4. Since this thread has been referenced, I thought I'd update with the latest (as far as I know) list of White Box FC Carnivals. As of September 4, 2021 I have seen pictures of 5, but 6 have been reported by AA members. From Left to Right: 1) BigDumer bought in a lot in Vancouver. Traded to Cmart. Presumably he still owns because...look at it...it's sexy! 5) Posted by Morpheus (in the Variants thread) from an etsy auction. Kamikazi26 knows the buyer. 6) [NO PICTURE] Cmart found in the Vancouver region.
  5. I think we have visual confirmation of five copies of the FC Carnival in the plain white box: From Left to Right: 1) @BigDumer bought in a lot in Vancouver. Traded to @cmart604 2) @Kamikazi26 bought from a pawn shop in Saskatchewan which is where the one posted on the Facebook Intellivision Retro Buy & Sell group ended up. Was then sold on IntellivisionCollector to ? 3) @Kamikazi26 saw this on a maxsold auction in Toronto, buyer is unknown. 4) @Kamikazi26 bought in a lot. Presumably he still owns because...look at it...it's sexy! 5) Posted by @Morpheus from an etsy auction. @Kamikazi26 knows the buyer.
  6. There is definitely a French Canadian Roulette in this lot: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/144167866446?hash=item219113104e:g:rTUAAOSwsiNhI7gQ And, uh, I'm not familiar with the spine of that Skiing. Is it a FC Sleeved Skiing? I think so. I no longer have my sleeved Horse Racing to compare. Ah, I am always thankful for @Humblejack uploading pictures of the spines of his collection - such a great reference for figuring out what is in eBay lots when they only show the spines. I think it is a Sleeved Skiing. Boxes aren't in the greatest condition, and it's an auction (I would have bought it if it was Buy It Now, mwahahaha).
  7. I did know about the bug in the game...and I distinctly remember how I found out. I was in competition with my friend and coworker, Brad (he is currently in 2nd place) - we played this every day during our breaks and at lunch. One morning I came in and the TV had a note on it saying "Check the tape." So I did and it was the GAME OVER screen with some insane high score. I couldn't believe that he had totally obliterated our current best score! I thought the competition was over. When he came in, he rewound the tape and showed me the bug and how he used it to get a crazy score! Interestingly, he sent in his high score before me and during his High Score game he accidentally triggered the bug! But, if I recall, you need to move Lupin to the top of the screen (to where the score is) for the score to start rolling up and he just hung around the side of the screen until he was able to touch a cop to lose a life and continue the game without getting any extra score. I also don't remember the 300,000 point rollover, now that you mention it! Please share what you discover.
  8. My record is 217,720 set nearly 19 years ago: https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/lock-n-chase/intellivision Technically, a famous gamer named Todd Rogers held the record for about 12 years but all of his records were removed due to cheating allegations: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2018/01/29/a-man-accused-of-cheating-at-video-games-may-lose-his-decades-old-guinness-world-record/. At the time I was happy - it took a famous gamer to beat me and he quadrupled my score (888,000) so I had no desire to try and beat him. Pretty funny that the instructions for Lock'n'Chase note that the score rolls-over at 300,000 points and a counter displays the number of times it has rolled-over, to a maximum of 200 times...which is 60-million points. And the world record didn't roll it over once.
  9. Some recent pickups. I paid top dollar for the SEARS Roulette on eBay but now I have most of the tough SEARS games. The French Canadian Roulette was my new #1 most wanted game (after picking up FC B-17 Bomber earlier this summer) and I just fluked out. I checked eBay between meetings and this $10 CAD Buy-it-Now had just been posted. I bought it right away. Even with the writing on the cover I am so stoked to get this. I don't usually get things like pins, but as the world record holder for Intellivision Lock'n'Chase, I couldn't pass this up. Maybe I'll wear it to the next PRGE. Finally, I blame @Kamikazi26 for getting me on these loose French Canadian Coleco label stickers. Paid more than I should have for a beat-up Donkey Kong to get this.
  10. Took some time to update the spreadsheet that was done quick and (very) dirty so now I can update it easier when the Intellivisionaries do their next game review episode. Yes, I said "when." Here is a chart of each of the game review episodes over time. Not sure if this is what you were looking for @JasonlikesINTV - I have never been the best at visualizations. I work with teams of Data Analysts who do that for me. They have reviewed 34 of the 125, including Happy Trails and Locomotion from May 6, 2020. The jump in 2015 was when they Math Fun, Word Fun, Learning Fun I and II in the same episode. I also updated the projections: The current projection, based on the last 4.5 years (since Royal Dealer was reviewed on December 23, 2016) has them finishing all 125 games on May 13, 2100. They made up 13 years with the Happy Trails / Locomotion episode!
  11. Just got lucky and checked eBay between meetings and saw this FC Roulette: Even with the high shipping of $21 and some writing on the box...for $31 CDN total, I am super happy to get one of the 3 French Canadian boxes that I needed! Couldn't click the Buy It Now button fast enough when I saw the $10 price. I have a pristine FC Roulette manual and the cart that came with it, if I need to replace the ones in this set.
  12. Since I have too much time on my hands, back in December 2019 I did an analysis of how long it will take them to cover all 125 Intellivision games on the show. Since the number of shows has decreased a lot over the years, I looked at how long it would take them based on the first 2 years of the show, and then again on the last 3 years of the show (December 2016, Royal Dealer to May 2019, Shark! Shark!). The results: So, based on the rate of Game episodes from December 2016 to December 2019 they will get to the 125th game on February 24, 2113. Again, this was calculated in December, 2019 so it does not include Happy Tails and Locomotion which would improve the numbers greatly...might even bring the 125th game into the 21st century! Had they kept up the rate from the first 2 years they were on pace to hit 125 on December 24, 2022. And I didn't do this to be mean; I really, really enjoyed the show after 'binging' it in 2019 and I have some idea of how difficult it is to create such an enjoyable, well-researched show with multiple hosts and interviews - all as a hobby. I'm thankful for any show they can do, especially during COVID times. I wonder if I still have the "Drinking Game" or "Intellivisionaries Bingo" list I made while binging the show. I didn't share it at the time because I thought maybe some might take it the wrong way.
  13. Thanks for info, Luc! I didn't even notice the French sticker on the spine ("Une aventure video INTERPHASE")! Mine also has the "Made Right Here in Canada" white sticker on the front. Huh. Great. I have previously refused to accept these Canadian "Sticker" variants (like the Activision ones) but now that I have one, I may have to accept my fate and add them all to my list. Can you confirm that Sewer Sam has a similar French Canadian variant?
  14. Wow, first time I have seen those. I had to do some research which led me to the repro boxes of these on eBay, which led me to this thread: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/269782-intellivision-interplay-repro-boxes/#comments @cmart604 - So what's the deal with the carts? Are they functional prototypes as well?
  15. Are they trying to hunt down the guy who made the Interphase games (since he was here in Vancouver at the time) so they can buy his remaining inventory of mint condition boxes, manual variants and marketing material? Actually, I'd be shocked if they hadn't already tried to contact him for just this reason...
  16. Ah, that makes perfect sense as to why the manual is bigger and is a copy of the box cover! Still fits inside the box, which is nice. Thank-you!
  17. Today I picked-up a copy of Blockade Runner and it came with a French manual that I have never seen before. It is slightly bigger than the English manual and it uses the box art on the cover, but other than that it appears to be an exact copy, just with the text translated. It is the same accordion style as the English manual. I bought the item from Quebec, so it seems possible that they made a French-only manual just for the copies sold in Quebec but since I couldn't find any examples of this on the web, I thought I'd check with the experts. Has anyone seen this manual before?
  18. After a long dry spell, I splurged quite a bit in June, getting many key pieces, including the French Canadian B-17 Bomber which was my most wanted game! Thanks to @Kamikazi26 - I bought the SEARS SNAFU from his "going on vacation" sale and traded with him for the FCTVVO Checkers. Bought the SEARS Backgammon from another great collector (who is on AA but I don't know his handle) and I bought the other 3 on eBay.
  19. I have 309 CIB Intellivision games, with no duplicates (assuming you think that two of the same game with slightly different box art isn't a duplicate...) Add in 13 loose carts (no "insert to" line, double labels) and my Inty collection is 322. I also have 138 CIB Intellivision games in my "trade/sell" box...I really should do something about that at some point. But I see how difficult it is for people to sell big lots of Intellivision games already. My total game collection is at 1698 (including Intellivision) and I've only finished 346 of them so I guess I should get busy. Working on Mass Effect 2 right now.
  20. So now, my embarrassing story. I finished lunch today and checked eBay on my phone. That's when I saw the Canadian Turbo, complete, Buy Now, shipping from Canada (this is huge for us!). I went to buy it on my phone, but I had recently changed all my passwords and I wasn't totally sure of my PayPal password. So I ran upstairs to my computer, refreshed eBay, saw the auction listing, clicked Buy Now, confirmed my PayPal password and bought it. Yay? Unfortunately, this is when I realized that the seller had TWO Canadian Turbos for sale. Both with identical auction listing names. The one I had just bought had the cut box (to make it like a gatefold) and just the cart and manual. I didn't want that one. I wanted the one with the sticker and warranty and an intact box! So I clicked Buy Now on the other one so I don't miss it. Now I've spent over $400 CDN on TWO Canadian Turbos. I quickly messaged the seller to explain what happened and asked if he'd cancel the purchase on the one I didn't want. Thankfully he was great about it and quickly cancelled the transaction. We've been chatting a bit since then; sounds like he got a big Intellivision collection from someone and put some of the biggest games up today, and the rest will go up tomorrow. I'm not sure if someone bought that other Turbo, or if it hasn't gone back up for auction after the transaction was cancelled. All I know is that it's not there now.
  21. I bought the Canadian Turbo a couple hours ago from this same Canadian seller with the Zaxxon. I paid more than I should have, but a Buy Now FROM CANADA? I barely looked at the price. More than $200 CDN. This is the auction pic...not going to count it until I have it in my hands. It's been a loooong dry spell for me so I wasn't going to miss out on this.
  22. I've been chatting with the seller. Yes, some of the Coleco boxes were cut down the side to make faux-gatefold boxes. Sigh. I did buy a 100% complete Canadian Turbo from him that is not cut down the side (he will be posting another Canadian Turbo that IS cut down the side). He's posting quite a collection right now. Super Cobra (US), Body Slam, Decathlon, Told me he has 70 Itellivision items to put up. Most appear to be in very good shape. I was also tempted by that Canadian Zaxxon. I have one but the cartridge has the US label, not the Canadian label!
  23. Well, add another variant to my list. So, did EVERY Mattel "Network" game released in a gatefold box have a Hong Kong version with a tray? Not counting Canadian versions. Most of my 'research' has been on INTV Funhouse over the years so I didn't have this USCF Chess HK tray version on my list. Based on that source, these ones had reported Hong Kong tray versions, but I haven't seen a photo yet: - Reversi (INTV Funhouse says it's been reported by Steve but is sealed so hasn't been confirmed to have a tray) - Shark! Shark! (INTV Funhouse says it's been reported by Steve but hasn't been confirmed) This the only one on INTV Funhouse that doesn't say anything about a Hong Kong version at all is: - Sharp Shot Would be interesting if Sharp Shot is the only version from the Mattel gatefold network games that doesn't have a plastic tray version at all (again, not counting the Canadian release).
  24. Hi Gang - is this a French Canadian Sleeved Roulette...sans sleeve? https://www.ebay.com/itm/324624514555?epid=6806&hash=item4b9520fdfb:g:G1oAAOSw6bFgn0sk Could be worth it for anyone looking to pick up this specific manual.
  25. Haha, no but I did receive many amazing things from you in that trade! Oddly, I have done several FB deals in that area like the Toys R Us parking lot and the Superstore across the street.
