I think the naming of any storms is dumb. It almost always ruins some poor kid's name unless you use something like hurricane Hitler.

because it's something to do.

Take it from someone who works in a business that manages vendors who do snow work -- it makes it a hell of a lot easier to ID, track, and bill storms!
