  1. You would format the disk from DOS on your Atari, which would need to be booted from some other device the first time. MyDOS or SpartaDOS will work.
  2. You'll need to replace the ROM with one modded for 3.5 mechs. I would suggest the Hyper-XF 3.5 version. There are 3.5" edgecard adapters, or you can replace the cable. That's about all you need.
  3. You should be able to do that with Altirra.
  4. Pretty sure you can just remove the MMU. Antonia takes over all of its functions. Worth a try anyway.
  5. SWP did sell adapter boards, but good luck finding one now. There's an article here that describes how to make one. http://www.classiccmp.org/dunfield/img54306/cnct.htm
  6. Could you post a pic or a link? It's hit or miss with those things, so would be nice to know of one that's known to work with Ataris.
  7. The modules usually just consist of a plug with jumper wires to map the pins of the ZIF socket to the correct programmer signals for various EPROMS.
  8. Looks like this one. Despite the fact they call it an AV input, I'm pretty sure it's composite video, not RF. You would take the audio signal from the 5 pin DIN connector. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/TV-DVD-AV-Composite-RCA-S-Video-To-VGA-Monitor-PC-Video-Adapter-Converter-Switch-Box/2054303263.html
  9. Half the fun is all the other stuff you come across when searching for what you're really looking for
  10. The faq has a list of the most common ones. High Speed SIO is built in to the U1MB if you have the PBI BIOS enabled, so you don't need it in your OS ROM to use that. http://www.atarimania.com/faq-atari-400-800-xl-xe.html
  11. If you want to do true deep testing and extended burn in testing of your mod try PAGEFIND.BAS as described by Hias here. It really is the best tester IMO. It's in German, but it's not too hard to figure out. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/221107-looking-for-an-extended-memory-test-program/?hl=%2Bpagefind.bas&do=findComment&comment=2912802

  13. Look at the pdf file attached to the first post in this thread for all of Jurgen's wonderful hardware: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/277204-some-new-not-really-hardware-made-by-tfhh/
  14. Double Sided Double Density (DSDD) 5.25" Floppy Disks
  15. All of those keys share pin one of the keyboard connector. Start tracing for a problem there.
  16. Have you tried putting an old VCR between the Atari and the newer capture cards?....lol
  17. Bonus points if you mount it all in an old rf switch box
  18. Wow, that is rare. Hard to even find a decent picture of one. Would love it if you could post some good ones! Sorry, no help with the PS. You might need to reverse engineer the power circuit a bit to figure it out. I'm sure a few good pics of the board would get you some educated guesses. Nezgar, you beat me to it!
  19. I have 3 600XLs and none of them have the resistor board. I wonder how common it really was?
  20. Actually it's the other way around.....which always seemed weird to me.
  21. How times have changed. I bought my ATR8000 on eBay. The auction also included a pair of 80 track 5.25 drives in a powered enclosure. Shipped to my door for $69.54. That was in 2001.
  22. His ebay ad doesn't appear to have been updated since 2016, but if you scroll down, he does list an email address and even a phone number in the ad. I bought mine in June of this year.
  23. Actually, I just bought an Ultimate 1MB a few months ago, and it was back to using the vertical headers. I was concerned about space with the horizontal and was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package and saw that they were vertical. You might also consider the Antonia 4MB upgrade. It's a bit smaller and easier to fit.
  24. Any chance you could share the 8k?
