What's the latest Atari related thing(s) you've bought on ebay?

Atari graphics were SO far ahead of their time! -

SDrive 8.3 characters limited on-screen loader
JR> replied to Philsan's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Control-L will turn on long filenames in the sdrive loader. -
Actually there was also a RamRod board for the XL line too. It was basically a 3 OS switcher. It came with Newell's OSN which was OSb compatible, and had fast math routines and Omnimon built in. It was often sold with Omniview XL as one of the alternate OS chips. https://archive.org/details/RAMROD-XL

The UAV doesn't require the DIN jack. You can bring the signals out of the case any way you desire. It is VERY easy to add the DIN jack. Just remove the ch. 2-3 switch and the DIN jack solder points and holes are already on the MB beneath it.

Easiest and one of the best is the UAV. https://thebrewingacademy.com/collections/atari-800-xl-xe-xel-xld/products/tba-ultimate-atari-video-uav-board-for-400-800-xl-xe I saw that Nir Dary was looking for an NTSC 600xl to use for a simple video upgrade video. Looking forward to seeing that one.

Looks like just a simple OS switcher for an XL computer. Switch enables either the stock OS or the OS on the EPROM.

Recasing an 810 drive - was that a thing to do?
JR> replied to 6BQ5's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Maybe you are remembering the B&C 810 drives? -
The Newell Ramrod board allows for swapping out all of the OS blocks of the 800.
-
Most likely the computer would crash, but no physical harm would be done. The 800 version is a little different as only a small, normally unused 4k chunk of memory is being switched around.
-
Both computers have Omnimon boards, which allow you to switch between the stock OS, the Omnimon OS and possibly the Omniview 80 column OS. Some of the switches will be for those boards. Looks like the 800 has a 16K and a 32K RAM board. Big button on the 800 is probably a cold reset. The 1050 appears to have a Happy Enhancement which adds many nice features and the ability to copy many protected diskettes.

Nice haul! The fact that you have actual characters on the screen is a very good sign. Step 1.....carefully re-seat all boards and socketed chips.

Pretty sure Saran wrap doesn't block much UV. -
Where to buy replacement RAM chips for 130XE in the U.S.?
JR> replied to chad5200's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
SOME late model 130xe machines do use those chips, as do some 65xe machines. They can also be used to upgrade the 600xl to 64K. I think the XEGS also uses those. (edit...Too slow) -

I'm learning that I'm a bit older than many of you. If there were any pictures of my setups from back then, they would probably include several beer bottles and a dirty ashtray Fortunately I quit smoking a quarter century ago!

Just get an Ultimate 1MB and a SIDE2 cart. This combo does EVERYTHING and then some. You'll want this eventually, so just save time and money and get it now

I've used old PC power supplies before. +5 for XL/XE and +12 for Indus, etc. You have to be careful though. Fuse each cable. The 9VAC devices are more of a problem although you could bypass the internal power supply in some of them and run them on +12v and +5v. Good USB chargers are pretty good for running a single computer....and a lot more compact than any of the Atari bricks.

MyIDE II not working on NTSC 1200XL with Antonia 4MB
JR> replied to irich2's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Could also be a case of marginal power. Try removing more of the un-needed chips....RAM, ROM....and see if that helps any. -

Wow, that picture of the old teletype really brought back memories. My earliest programming experiences were on one exactly like that! Ah the joys of paper tape storage -

Love the beer bottle collection. I had a pretty extensive one of those back in the day

...just an old 64K ram extension for the 600XL
JR> replied to yenzee's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
From the FAQ: Rare variations of the 600XL: A small number of 600XLs were sold with 64KiB RAM. These may have only appeared in Canada. The box had a round gold foil sticker reading: "64k Memory -- Now with a full 64k of memory built-in." The computer contains an internal memory upgrade daughterboard by BOT Engineering (based near Toronto). -

That does sound familiar. Found this... Post number 16 by almost rice (who hasn't been around for a while. Hope he's okay!) http://atariage.com/forums/topic/73013-atari-600xl-mem-upgrade/ -
...just an old 64K ram extension for the 600XL
JR> replied to yenzee's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I suppose we could assume that the 4464 chips became cost effective around the time that Atari redesigned the 65xe and 130xe to use them. Apparently Atari even sold 64K upgraded 600xls with 8 chip 3rd party expansion boards at one point.
