I got excited when you listed the elusive 8K omnimon rom on your site. Unfortunately it just appears to be a 4K Omniview 400/800 variant.

OPTION/RESET and SELECT/RESET are the ways to get into Omnimon. or X=USR(49152)

Theoretically no better, but modern monitors are hit and miss with these old video signals. So it wouldn't surprise me if one input looked better than the other.

The first cable outputs to 4 RCA plugs, composite, chroma, luma, and audio. The second cable has 2 rca jacks for chroma and luma converting them to the s-video plug that connects to you monitor. It's fairly easy to add the chroma signal to the 800xl if yours doesn't have it.

The tf_hh 48/52k RAM board makes a pretty good substitute for the Newell OS board! OSN, OMNIMON, OMNIVIEW, patched 800 OS, Fast Math packs etc. can all be mixed and matched, burned to an EPROM. Too bad there are only 4 slots!

I hadn't considered that, but yes, it sounds like it would work. I'll have to try it when I get around to installing mine!

It would pretty much eliminate the need for the BIGGUS DICKUS if none of the other features mentioned are of use to you. As mentioned you can mount ATRs from a partition on the SD card and boot from them just like SIO2SD....except they are MUCH faster from SIDE2.

I will say that if you get a U1MB, you really should add a SIDE2 cart to your list if you don't already have one. Together they are much better than either device by itself.

A couple of other people have reported problems with the hx8347g earlier in the thread. It does not sound like they were ever resolved.

Have never had a problem running mine on SIO power.

I always liked the one built in to SmartDOS back in the day.

Disconnect the keyboard and see if there still seems to be a key stuck, If not the keyboard is probably the problem. There are two CD4051 chips near the keyboard connector. Try swapping them and see if the symptoms stay the same or change. One of them could have gotten damaged by the power supply. Also see if it is still registering a stuck key while you have both of these chips and the keyboard removed. Process of elimination to track down where the problem lies.

Wrong screen code maybe? Try flashing the others and see if one works.
