Should I just go straight to flashing with a USB drive out of the box and save myself any possible issues from attempting a network update on 1st boot?

I've already flashed a USB drive with the latest FW version from discord, so it's sitting here as an available option ready to go.

Additionally, it sounds like there is a separate BIOS update as well, but if the reports are right, there shouldn't be any issues with performing that over the network afterwards.

Let me know if that is true or not.

Yes, you should connect your USB flash drive with the latest update directly before the console boots for the 1st time. Thus, in 15 minutes maximum, your console will be functional and you will avoid disappointments. And yes you can update the bios afterwards via the internet without any problem. I have 3 VCS at home and in total I have installed 14 of them! So don't worry about doing so, everything will be fine. And above all, there is no added value to be updated by the internet out of the box.

  2. Have I been dreaming? I remember reading that there would be a surprise if you connect the classic vcs800 controller to it? Was I dreaming or not ?

  3. You can do a reset. Look underneath the controller, there's a small hole at the top right of the Atari logo. Turn on the controller in wireless mode, push a pinhead into the hole until you feel the button press at the bottom of the hole. Normally, the controller turns off. Turn it back on, plug it into wired mode and go to the settings to recreate the calibration.

There are enough gravity games on VCS to complain about, "lacking" that feature.

IMO you are comparing Apples to oranges

    Cheers!

I understand your opinion. And yes, there are already plenty of games of the same style on the VCS, except that I don't have them, so I compare with what I have, in this case the demo of each of the two games and I have to admit that I quickly passed my turn on GM while LL suits me better. Here I try to explain why I prefer the maneuverability of one over the other. This is just my opinion based on my experience. I don't pretend to be a mega super player who is always right and everyone has to agree with me. So I'm not trying to generalize the comparison on other points, it wouldn't make any sense. The 2 examples are to illustrate the difference that makes for me more fun playing one compared to the other.

  5. I just took the time this weekend to test the demo of the game via Steam under W10 on my VCS boosted to 16Gb of ram including 4 allocated to the GPU. The game works perfectly! So there's no reason why the game shouldn't run on AtariOS as long as you have 16gb of ram and enough space on the emmc or an external drive...My impressions of the demo: the game is beautiful, with slick graphics. The music that accompanies the various game screens is also well suited. In terms of handling, I put here 10/10! If I have to compare it to Gravitic Mines on a Jaguar, Lunar Lander is much more manoeuvrable! I was able to finish all the missions in the demo without too much trouble, and for good reason, what helps here is the ability to activate thrusters that stabilize us! In my opinion this is sorely lacking in Gravitic Mines.

What's also very good is that there's a storyline as it's really great because it adds a depth to the game that the games in the Recharged series don't have.

I have keyboard and mouse.  I installed an M.2 drive.   I continue to getting error messages this time it says "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the setup log files." I'm not sure what to do next. any advice?

UPDATE: I formated the drive within the atari OS and now it says windows can't be installed on the drive (listed as drive 0). and it won't give me the option to format it.

    What can I do now?

The storage issue is more easily resolved on the Atari VCS 800 side of things than on the Nintendo Switch. I mean just grab a USB stick and plug it into the Atari VCS 800 and job done you now have a resolution that costs next to nothing. Its simply unnaceptable that this game doesn't come to the Atari VCS. The next excuse for it not coming to Atari VCS was the operating system makes it more difficult than on other platform to bring the game over but does it really? Its Linux.

From what I understand, the problem is that even if you choose to install the game on an additional disk, the atarios will download the game to the emmc and then unzip it to the selected disk. However, between the download and the temporary files for decompression, you have to leave a lot of space on the emmc

At the very end of this article it says it is coming to the VCS.

Since it is an interview- as opposed to simply a press release... hopefully it is accurate.

I've seen that. But who to believe? A journalist who says AtariVCS at the bottom of the page (did he copy and paste from another previous Atari game?) Or Atari ?

Never said all Bravias and the title is true the VCS hates Bravias

not all Bravias but many of them and other TVs too

It is a known issue that has gone unfixed

    What's your exact model ?

  10. Normally, you should be able to run the games from another linux distribution. On the other hand, you may lose some features, especially with the controllers. As for launching the games from another VCS on Atarios, you can do it simply by logging into that other machine with your account and connecting your USB drive. The list of your games on it will be automatically updated on your dashboard.

Can you guys please give me a hand getting this thing running?

You've probably gotten a console that was produced in the first and therefore has one of the very first versions of the atarios. Unfortunately, in this case, your console can't communicate with the server to update itself. For the moment, the only solution is to do it manually.

You have just to download the last update image here version 26112023 updated Dec11, 2023:

and copy that on an usb stick with balena etcher. The video with the instructions is here :

  12. And let's not forget The Spirit of the Samurai which will be exclusive to the AtariVCS on the console side, at least time exclusive. On the PC side, it will be available on Steam.

The Spirit of the Samurai" is an epic dark adventure 2D game set in feudal japan and its mythology . A samurai and his cat, aided by "Kitsune" the spirit of the forest, must face evil in an exploration-based Metroidvania, action side-scrolling platformer.

Just checked my email spam and it seems Atari have actual charged  me $4.99, seems a technical glitch in the store, I have reported it to them

That's because David Paige must have made a mistake in converting to British pounds. In any case, worldwide, you will be charged at the price in dollars, but David needs to update the currency exchange to give you an idea of the price in your currency. I hope that soon this part will be automatically updated in order to avoid mistakes of this kind. I have the same problem for Euro dollar conversions.
