I don't remember where but I remember seeing a console with a serial number somewhere in the low 200s that was still made in Taiwan. I think it's safe to assume that all of production took place overseas
-
Ok so I found out with someone I was messaging that the EP serial designation was because it was intended for the El Paso test launch. The AT84 units were made later that year for the nation wide launch (which didn't happen til 1986). I verified that all Atari 7800 systems were only made in Taiwan and some few last production systems made in China.
-
His serial was really low at 001270 and to the right it says EP-264. Yet says Taiwan instead of U. S. A. While on this topic, does anyone know the differences between the EP units and the AT84 units seeing how both were manufactured in the same year of 1984?
-
Were any Atari 7800's with an EP serial ever made in El Paso Texas or the USA? I asked somebody on eBay that was selling an EP systems that was made in Taiwan and he said that every EP systems he found always said made in Taiwan.
-
Unfortunately this is false but I wish it were true. Apparently all EP units were actually made in Taiwan. Every single one of them were made in Taiwan except for a few prototype unit

Would a composite video/audio mod bypass a failing RF box? If I understand correctly, the RF modulator combines both the video and audio out before generating the RF frequency for the TV? So I thought maybe a composite mod could fix the tint issue. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Then again, the trim pot could also be failing.- 78 replies

Yeah I'm positive now it's just bad caps, at least for the audio out. The system had working audio after I left the console on for an hour. Do you think bad caps can affect the picture and make the green tint as well? I thought the RF modulator box or the trimpot was going bad but caps might be the underlying issue.- 78 replies

Now the audio out isn't working and only causes a static sound. Could capacitors fail so quickly that it causes the system to not only lose color but also sound? Usually capacitors fail slowly and they show telltale signs. The fact the system was working with color and sound two days ago means that something more problematic is the issue. Perhaps the video encoder chip and audio chip is going bad?

I tried adjusting the trim pot and it only cycles between blue tint, green tint, black and white, and static. Right now, it's stuck with a permanent green tint and won't fix itself. No leaking capacitors or signs of motherboard corrosion. The problem with fixing the trimpot issue is how difficult and annoying the console disassembly is. The wires are everywhere and connect to the front panel for the LED light which can't be removed. I thought I could fix the issue by desoldering the top shield but it looks like the trimpot solder points are on the other side. Would a composite mod fix the gren tint issue? Is there an easy fix for this tint or should I just return the system? I bought it a week ago and it's under warranty. It was tested as working before the Arcadia was shipped out. Maybe some solder joints cracked during transport.

Something to do with the trimpot I think. I've never opened a system like this before and it has wires everywhere. I tried desoldering the upper rf shield and found that the wires can't be unplugged and they get in the way for me to actually see the motherboard.- 78 replies

My Emerson Arcadia 2001 starts up normally with normal color output. However, after about a minute, the screen flickers and the console outputs wirh a strong green tint. After a minute passes, the console fixes itself temporarily and goes back to normal color output. Do you know what could be causing this? It's not game cartridge or the AC adapter so it is something to do with the console itself. Any help is appreciated.- 78 replies

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes project
Sonaru replied to Leonardo Biagi's topic in Odyssey 2 / Videopac
Has the game rom been publicly released? I couldn't find it online. I know it's unplayable without the game board like the other strategy games but it would be interesting to play the game and see what it's like. -
What are the best multiplayer games for the Odyssey2/Videopac? Most of the game library are multiplayer or let you take turns for a high-score.I was wonder which multiplayer games are the most fun and competitive? Also, which games have some kind of a co-op feature here you can both work together simultaneously to reach a high level or high-score.

I'm trying to find out if the Atari 7800 had any games that used analog controls for flight simulators or driving games. Does the Beeshu Zoomer actually work with analog controls instead of just emulating a digital 8 way directional joystick?

BackBit cartridge on the Intellivision
Sonaru replied to evietron's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I think this new BackBit cart will be better than the lto flash because it has more modern hardware and sd card support. Putting on new games via USB and needing to use a program to interface with the lto flash is unwieldy. An SD card where you can simply dragon and drop roms would be ideal. Not to mention that internal flash storage can become corrupted. -
Of course. It has the same pinout.

BackBit cartridge on the Intellivision
Sonaru replied to evietron's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I believe the LTO flash has been discontinued (its been over two years since they've been sold or contact has been made with the seller) so this is great to have a new sd flash cart available. Also this new sd flash cart looks more promising than the LTO flash because it supports micro sd cards instead of the annoying USB flash storage. Adding games will be much easier -
Has Super Boy 1, 2, and 3 ever been converted from the SG-1000 to the Colecovision? I would like to try playing it on my Colecovision to see how the hardware can handle the horizontal scrolling.
-
Nevermind, I believe that was a later released Canadian or Europe model.

Also does anyone know how many units the Bally and Jaguar sold? Is the Jaguar or Bally more rare?
-
Yeah the Bally was really innovative for its time. I actually got both a Jaguar and a Bally Arcade recently. Between the two, I find the Bally more interesting and fun so I play on that more than the Jaguar.
