So I had a non-TMSS Genesis 2 when I was a kid. I was quite surprised last year when I learned that TMSS exists. Has anyone else ever encountered one of these? I don't mean the PAL/Japan/Asia Mega Drive 2, but the US model specifically. I'm not sure about the other regions. Obviously they implemented TMSS before the hardware got its complete redesign, which is why I am curious as to why mine didn't have it. Obviously it would make sense for all systems manufactured after a certain point to have TMSS, but that is not the case, apparently. As for the system itself, in 2005 it got thrown in the garbage along with my entire collection of games because we were moving across the country and had to save as much space as possible, so my dad threw it away and I obviously don't have it anymore. I was too young to remember a time before we had it and I never saw the box, but I am almost certain this system was one of those Sega Sports Pack things with some football game included. My main reason for this is because we had a football game of some sort, and since my entire family hates football, there is no way that we would have had it if it wasn't the pack-in. I did play this football game maybe once or twice to see what it was like but since I don't understand football I only played it for maybe 3 minutes before I got lost and confused and turned it off. I can't remember what game it was, but I think it was NFL Football '94 Starring Joe Montana since the in-game screenshots of it on the internet look kind of familiar. I'm not sure if this information about this football game maybe being the pack-in game is important, but I figured I should probably include it just in case it is. This has been bothering me for a year now, so if anyone knows anything about this, it would be great. Thanks.

Terrible Gaming PDAs (...official thread?)
Steven Pendleton replied to EdgeOfPortal's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I mean, that's fine. I've always though of the N-Gage and Gizmondo as game systems first, and then other stuff is a second priority. Perhaps because I saw Worms World Party for N-Gage in Gamestop in like 2007 or so. Never seen any other N-Gage stuff in the wild, though, including the system itself. -

This is absolutely true, like this dude who plays Doom on his thermostat I don't think the Gizmondo and N-Gage really count. It's your topic though, so if you think it counts, it counts. Might as well add the game.com at that point since you can plug it into your modem and check your email and browse the internet with it. Kind of cool, but not really practical even then, I think. Never heard of the Tapwave Zodiac before, but it seems interesting. -
I'm guessing that this list is ignoring the fact that Sega CD/Mega-CD games are region locked. Anyway, aside from the super-obvious Sonic CD, I know that Road Blaster FX, Rebel Assault, and Bari-Arm should be playable if you can't Japanese. I was quite surprised after I bought Japanese Rebel Assault to see the entire game is in English with MASSIVE Japanese subtitles that block like a third of the screen. Main menu is in Japanese. I can read it, but if you can't, you should be fine as long as you don't plan on changing anything in the options menu. I forgot Silpheed. The entire game is in English with Japanese subs despite being a Japanese game. This one is really cheap and you can easily find this for about 2000 yen, and it's also a good shooter with cool graphics for a home console at the time. ...and I missed where you are using a MegaSD, so don't worry about region lock. All of these got international releases as well, and obviously Rebel Assault is a US game anyway.

Do you wear video game themed or inspired clothes?

Wearing Metroid shirt from Uniqlo right now. Mega Drive shirt from Cospa is in the closet. Will be getting the 3 official PC Engine shirts in a few weeks when the PC Engine Mini launches. So yes. -
Apparently Limited Run Games is doing Sega CD games now
Steven Pendleton replied to Steven Pendleton's topic in Sega Genesis
You know that Pilot Disc is worth just as much as the game is? PC Engine Snatcher is easy to find, unlike the US/EU releases, but I think I have only seen the Pilot Disc once in person. Anyway, I am curious to see if they will do any more Sega CD games. It's kind of annoying with the region lock, though. Funny that this is the first time I have ever had no use for my own country's versions of games due to region locking. Now I kind of see why all the European guys were so jealous when they didn't get the physical copy of Shin Megami Tensei IV and the rest of the world did. -
I am pretty sure that mention of Polymega was a joke... and yes, the Super Nt/Mega Sg are good, but they have problems. I just found another problem with the Mega Sg the other day, actually. It's nice for games that switch resolutions a lot, though, and unlike OSSC + real hardware, I can get the proper aspect ratio for 320 pixel games (not square pixels, but the way it looks on a CRT AKA kind of squished). Over in some other thread I described Polymega as a slightly less bootleg Retron 5, because that's exactly what it is. I don't really think spending like $300 on a huge emulator box that's bigger than the PS3 and runs free emulators (I remember that they are using a custom 64 bit version of Kega Fusion. Forgot what SNES thing they are using) is a good investment, especially since I think you need to buy the add-on things to run those games. Not sure, though. I do know that you do not need the PC Engine/Sega modules to run those CD games, though, because I asked when I played it.

The Official NEO-GEO Thread!
Steven Pendleton replied to Charlie Cat's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Awesome, thanks. Basically my plan is to pick up an AES and some of the cheaper good AES games over time but also pick up one of those MVS -> AES converters so I can get some real carts but also not go bankrupt! MVS Neo Turf Masters is really cheap, comparatively. Hell, Japanese Sonic & Knuckles is more expensive! I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on Neo Geo right now unfortunately, as I am sending in my Sega Nomad to get some awesome new upgrades and that will cost a little more than the Neo Geo itself. I'm not sure if I'll pick one up yet and honestly I will probably pass if they still have that awesome Wondermega, but we'll see. It will be a good idea to go walk around and check out all of the stores next time since I didn't do that last time, so I'll let you guys all know if I see anything that's interesting. -
The Official NEO-GEO Thread!
Steven Pendleton replied to Charlie Cat's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It's a general question for anyone who feels like answering, but let's say I was to buy a Neo Geo AES (because there are no MVS units anywhere around here). Assuming I have a limited budget for the AES and games of around 60,000~80,000 yen, what games should I consider? Obviously the AES will run around 43,000 yen, so that leaves the rest for games. Probably only 1 game, sadly, given game prices, but there are some cheaper games out there that are below 10,000 yen as well. Here's the thing: I almost never play fighting games, but I know there are lots of not-fighting games on Neo Geo and I am still okay with picking up a few good fighters because I enjoy them sometimes. One of my friends also lives about 10 minutes away and LOVES fighting games and he actually wants a Neo Geo as well some day. I did of course watch Game Sack and their overview of the Neo Geo and its games is really awesome, but more information is always great. Thanks. I forgot to mention that literally any genre is okay, as I will play anything! -
Thanks! Fortunately I didn't have to go out of my way to get the Mega-CD. There were no Mega-CD 2s anywhere in Akiba (there were plenty in Super Potato on Wednesday, though), and this was the only Mega-CD in the whole town as well. I don't think I mentioned it before, so this is a great time to mention it: Japanese Mega Drive with the Mega-CD and no Super 32X is probably the tower configuration that looks the best to me, although I generally used to leave the Super 32X on as well for functionality before I got the MegaSD. Now I run it without either the Mega-CD or 32X or use the Mega Sg. #1 MD variant in terms of visual appearance will always be the Wondermega RG-M1, though. This is why I said Mega Drive + Mega-CD is my favourite tower configuration, because I like this one even more. I've never seen one in person but they are super awesome looking with all of the lights and stuff and I really want one! They are extremely expensive, relatively rare, and do not have RGB, though, so I have mixed feelings about actually getting one for its actual performance. I won't hesitate if I do find one in the wild, though!

But one of those boxes is essentially for a Genesis 2! ...not that I have a problem with that because the Nomad is awesome! Way more comfortable that I thought it would be, and it's actually one of my favourite MD/Genesis controllers for some reason. Also, I am buying my friend's HB-F1XDJ MSX2+ here sometime soon, and the MSX2+ is really cool, as well.

Intellivision Ebay Roundup
Steven Pendleton replied to IntellivisionDude's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Yeah, it really looks to me like they went swimming together and took pictures afterwards. "Condition is Used" doesn't really say much at all, either. Hopefully he cleans it up some more and has a CRT to verify if it actually works. Too bad, as I think the Intellivision is a beautiful console and I hate seeing them all dirty like this, but seeing as some of them are literally 40 years old at this point, it's not unexpected. -

It seems I missed whatever you guys were looking at. It must have been really bad before, because even now it looks like he rescued it out of the sewer just 5 minutes ago! -
The Official Intellivision Serial Number Database
Steven Pendleton replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Just submitted my Intellivision and Intellivoice. I think it might have been a demo unit, as it has a sticker on the bottom that reads FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY, although the previous owner didn't know anything about it. My camera and photography skills are horrible, but I can provide pictures if you want to see it. -

Ew, that thing looks like it could be radioactive. Maybe the skin of whoever buys it will turn pearlescent purple or something. -
Apparently Limited Run Games is doing Sega CD games now

Yeah, they have lots of good releases, but their LEs are frankly disappointing so I never buy them. That's okay, though, since it helps me save money and space while still getting a physical copy of the regular edition. -
Nintendo Switch overtakes 1990s SNES console in sales
Steven Pendleton replied to 0078265317's topic in Nintendo Switch
I wasn't sure if the Famicom controllers work with the Castlevania collection, so I passed, especially since I'd essentially be buying a set of controllers just for that and nothing else. I could get one of those retro receiver things, but I've had enough of 8BitDo's Bluetooth controllers being annoying. M30 2.4g is the only one that works 100% of the time. It's also the only one I have found with a good d-pad, and also not Bluetooth. -

Nintendo Switch overtakes 1990s SNES console in sales
Steven Pendleton replied to 0078265317's topic in Nintendo Switch
There was a sale on the Famicom controllers a while ago for more than than half off, and I actually was seriously thinking about subscribing to the 1 week period to get them, but then I didn't. I heard the shape is not 100% accurate to the original, actually, but I don't have them and can't confirm. -
Nintendo Switch overtakes 1990s SNES console in sales
Steven Pendleton replied to 0078265317's topic in Nintendo Switch
Okay, done. It wasn't exactly a good example and I am not quite sure what I was trying to say anymore anyway. Delete your quote of me and there will be no trace of it! Anyway, yeah, $20 for online is fine if that's what you want. I have never seen anything about a discount on anything, though that's because I am ignorant. I do know there are some things that you can't buy without the subscription, as well. -
Nintendo Switch overtakes 1990s SNES console in sales
Steven Pendleton replied to 0078265317's topic in Nintendo Switch
In all seriousness, though, I play single player games almost exclusively, so I am quite literally not losing anything aside from my 2 examples, fortunately. It does make it annoying when I hang out with my friends and have to pull out the Mega Drive/Mega Sg or Super Nt to have more same screen multiplayer games, though with my unusual working hours and working on Saturday every week, that can only happen on Sundays and holidays, and not very often because of that. That does go for the PS3 and PS4, as well, especially the PS4 as I think I have literally only 1 multiplayer game for it. Moving back on topic, I am also quite glad the Switch is doing well, because the Wii U was not received as well as most other Nintendo systems. I wonder how they can do better than the Switch, aside from releasing the same thing with updated CPU/GPU/an APU/more RAM/bigger screen/better battery. They have probably been working on the successor since the system's launch, though, as that is standard practice. I just hope SMT V releases this year, although I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't and almost expect it not to. I do need to finish going through 2 more routes in Fire Emblem, though. I burned myself out on it again just recently after burning myself out on it when I played it twice in a row without a break near launch.
