    I actually already speak Japanese and have for 8 years lol

    Okay, good. People will say it's hard, but it really isn't. It just takes time to learn kanji and people are lazy, so they give up and say that Japanese is hard. Even kanji is actually quite easy (but time-consuming), and I found German to be considerably more difficult. Of course, if your Japanese is decent enough to play games you already know all of this, which means セガサターン、シロ! and all of that.

    Also be sure to check out the PC Engine, which I forgot to mention before, and no, the SuperGrafx is absolutely not worth it unless you REALLY want to play 1941 Counter Attack, which is both super awesome and fairly expensive to the point where I think the arcade PCB might actually be cheaper than the SuperGrafx version.

  2. I have never played Saturn Garegga, Batsugun, Batsugun Special, DonPachi, or DoDonPachi, but I have played all of those on PCB except for DonPachi, which I played for like 30 seconds on MiSTer, so I can't really say how the Saturn versions of those are, but other than that you have Soukyuugurentai, Cotton 2, Cotton Boomerang (no, Cotton 2 and Boomerang are definitely not the same game), Guardian Force, X-Multiply, Darius Gaiden, both Thunder Force Gold Packs, and some other stuff. I have never played Metal Black, but I have heard that is really good. Kaitei Daisensou is awesome, but apparently that game likes to not work properly on Saturn sometimes or something like that. If you can get that to work, play that. If not, the arcade version is fortunately on ACA.

    There is also Layer Section, which is not 100% accurate to RayForce, but if you are not looking for 100% accuracy, Layer Section is still good.

    Absolutely play Soukyuugurentai. Just don't ever power your weapon up at all because the game can become significantly more difficult if you do. Arcade version's normal difficulty setting is one above the default Saturn difficulty if you want that. Apparently there are some differences in the Otokuyou budget reprint version, but I have the regular version and have never played Otokuyou, so I don't know what those differences are aside from the presence of a Battle Garegga demo in Otokuyou.

  3. I have Soukyuugurentai, and signed by one of the guys that made it. It's one of the best and cheapest (a very nice CIB copy will run only about 6000 yen) STGs on the Saturn, and the dude that signed my game specifically told me to only ever play the Saturn version because that's the best version. He made the damn thing, so he knows better than I do.

    The only real problem with the game is that the way the rank system works is really stupid. Basically you should never power up you main shot at all or the game will start to get very difficult very quickly.

    I just turned on GOG Galaxy after a while and the Steam integration is broken for me completely.  It did accurately track my time playing an actual GOG game however.  Playstation has been broken for years now.

    Yeah, it looks like Steam integration on GOG is totally broken now, which probably explains why. I don't remember the last time I updated, but GOG's Steam integration has always been unreliable.

    The time tracker thing on the PS5's menu screen is super strange as well. I was like 20 hours into Horizon Zero Dawn and then suddenly it reset itself to nothing. I don't get it, but that's the only game that has done that so far.

  5. Just noticed GOG Galaxy isn't tracking my times properly again. I thought my Relayer time looked a bit low, but today I noticed it didn't properly track anything that I played today and says I haven't played that game in 4 days even though that's basically all I did yesterday, so it's definitely off, although how far off is unknown. Steam says 158.4 hours as of today including playing today, but GOG says 149 hours and 44 minutes as of 4 days ago.

    I have been thinking about taking a break from tracking modern side for a while anyway, so I might do that. Unsure as of yet.

  6. More random Sonic games are here.

    PC
    Out Zone - 18
    Raiden IV x MIKADO remix - 35
    Relayer Advanced - 1,174

    80.49% done. Yes, that is oddly specific, but that is where I am. Still super disappointed in the low difficulty on very hard, but it's better than the lower difficulties... barely. The most broken unit in the game still has yet to join, so the game will get easier once that happens.
    Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing - 18
    Sonic Lost World - 10
    Sonic Generations - 57

    PS4
    Sonic Colors: Ultimate - 104

    I take back what I said earlier; this is probably my #2 favourite 3D Sonic game after Sonic R, although Generations is probably still a better game. Some people count 3D Blast as a 3D Sonic game, and I like that more than Colors as well, so if you are one of those people who count 3D Blast as 3D for whatever reason, Colors is #3.

    PS5
    R-Type Final 3 Evolved - 55
    Sonic Frontiers - 226

    Done. Game is okay if you have nothing else to waste your time on, but if you are going to play a 3D Sonic game, play Generations or Colors instead because those are way better, Sonic R because it's way more fun even though it's technically awful, or, better, just don't waste your time playing 3D Sonic at all and play one of the 2D games instead because those are still the best by a ridiculous margin.

  7. Oh yeah, the LV thing on the HUD is your current powerup level. You're still on stage 1. Yeah, the stages in this are a little longer than typical, I think. I got about halfway through the game the one time that I did play it maybe 4 years ago.

    This is actually one of the more expensive Mega Drive games, and CIB this will run you around 30,000 yen or so if you can find a copy. I have only ever seen one copy of this game, and that's way more than I am willing to pay for it.

    Ive heard of this too but I have no PS4 games on the internal storage and ive crept up to 24GB now. All the PS4 games are now on the M.2 storage and the "other" there is at 49MB. I could be wrong but I think it might be more complicated than that.

    I really wish Sony would actually tell people about this storage and how to get rid of it. Maybe I will delete all of my PS4 games and see what happens out of curiosity.

  9. Sonic died this week or something. Alive or dead, he is here a lot this week somehow.

    PC
    Kyuukyoku Tiger/Twin Cobra - 55
    The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog - 104

    I still can't believe this exists, but it does. I also can't believe this is the best Sonic game since Sonic Mania, not that that really says much, but it is.
    Out Zone - 16

    Relayer Advanced - 394

    It's back. Time to see if very hard difficulty is finally hard enough. New game+ is broken, so I started a new save file this time. I do actually have the original non-Advanced version on PS5, but I don't really want to play the entire game just to unlock very hard and still potentially end up with a broken NG+ save file. Besides, everyone knows that Advanced things are better than things that are not Advanced... right?

    Sonic Generations - 24
    Sonic Mania - 34
    Tatsujin/Truxton - 11
    Zero Wing - 7

    PS4
    Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition - 270

    Finally decided to stop messing around with pointless sidequests and finish the story, which ended up being far shorter and less satisfying than I thought it would be. Probably won't bother with the free DLC that came with the Complete Edition since I really don't care anymore.
    Sonic Colors: Ultimate - 271

    PS5

    R-Type Final 3 Evolved - 180
    Sonic Frontiers - 466

    This game is... okay, I guess. You would think that being able to actually do all of the stuff in the Sonic CD intro cutscene would be cool, but it turned out to be surprisingly boring. I was going to get this on PC, but I missed the Steam sale and I found a physical PS5 copy for slightly more than the Steam sale price, so I got it here instead and still managed to save some money. If you missed your chance to get the ugly Sonic Adventure 2 shoes DLC in the international versions, the Japanese PS5 version seems to have it as a free download. The shoes are ugly and huge, so they make Sonic look like he has disproportionately massive feet, but they are still available in the Japanese version if you really want them for whatever reason.

  10. WTF this game's remake is on Steam? I knew there was a PC version in Japan, but didn't know that it was on Steam.

    Anyway, I forgot to write the settings! use this:

    difficulty = normal

    stock = 3

    credit = 0

    You can switch your ship between stages, but don't worry about making a note of it or anything; that will get very messy.
