My local arcade had PACLAND,, ENVIRONMENTAL DISCS OF TRON,, ROBOT BOWL,, THE GLOB.. some place in Cali had BIO ATTACK.. uhh I ROBOT at a pizza place in ohio.. BOXING BUGS at a bowling alley iirc.. QWAK at a bowling alley or skating rink (too scared of video games at that time to play).. MAPPY somewhere (probably at chuck e cheese's).. BEGA'S BATTLE in queens..

[Regarding Fantastic Voyage]

My story for FANTASTIC VOYAGE had a female doctor named Lisa (gi joe nurse type) pilot a shrunken ship inside a male patient named David (Eighties punk with dark red hair)..  despite David's appearance,,, he was completely OUT OF IT..  he felt like he was going to die everytime he could feel lisa inside him..  and his condition left him barely able to say his own name..  i mean,,, he did talk,,, but his speech was kind of slurred..  of course when lisa was done he gave her a kiss..  and i remember him shooting her the devil horns as he left..

SUPERMAN too.. i wrote a script for a cartoon based on it in the early Eighties then when i was sick i would play it and imagine different scenarios serving as EPISODES to the show..

Ah yes.. BIO ATTACK.. remember seeing that when i went to CA for great america.. i actually beat it because i memorized the patterns.. i did write a story based on it where female doctor Jana Jones (named after Jana of the jungle) goes inside a black male patient named Ray King,,, ray wasn't as exhausted/pansy as david, but wasn't as uncaring as brad.. he was just trying to relax and remain still as he could.. he was OBEDIENT..

[Arcade game bosses that would intimidate/frighten you]

Not so sure if this would count,,, but ALL MY FRIENDS were scared of the SPACE FURY guy,, they said if you looked into his eye it'd kill you like RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK type shit.. being the savage i was i LOOKED STRAIGHT INTO HIS EYE everytime i played it with friends.. i was never scared of him btw.. he was a bit offputting but not terrifying..

 

Now i do admit to being scared of the green guy from ROLLING THUNDER but only because of how the game over screen would go.. after you lost your last life,, GAME OVER would appear on a black background,,, then suddenly it'd just CUT to the green guy.. i wasn't as scared of him as my brother was though.. he'd have to have been like 5 at the time.. but the way my brother was scared of him reminded me of my friends fearing the SPACE FURY guy.. good thing they never played ZEKTOR..

May not count but i taught my little brother how to avoid the trap knuckles sets at the end of angel island zone act 2 in SONIC 3,,, time it right and JUMP.. nothing happens until you decide to go down though..

Ah yes,, looked it up and now i remember.. CINEMATRONICS game from 1981,, is it extinct now????

 

Feel like i've seen QWAK in person,, but this was back when i was SCARED TO DEATH of video games.. 6 maybe???? The reason why i was scared was because of their BLACK AND WHITE GRAPHICS AND STRANGE NOISES,, eek!!!!

 

BURNING FORCE was at my local bowling alley.. it was like a jukebox in that i'd put a quarter in and jam out.. AWESOME SOUNDTRACK..

Sorry to bump this thread.. it hasn't been active in seven years,,, but i have some contenders.

 

MAJOR HAVOC (first saw it at my local chuck e cheese's,, then at my local arcade a year later.. i agree,, how he shakes off the pain is very cute)..

ENVIRONMENTAL DISCS OF TRON (this was in my local arcade for a few years.. i had a crush on sark so i loved the speech)..

ROBOT BOWL (this was also at my local arcade for many years.. could never play this alone except if i were feeling brave)..

VIDEO PINBALL (at my local arcade in the early days.. loved it)..

RADAR SCOPE (same as video pinball.. became donkey kong)..

SOLAR FOX (at my local arcade,, removed round 85)..

PACLAND (at my local arcade)..

Fire truck (some atari game from the space invaders era,,, you drive a fire truck thru a surprisingly detailed landscape for a b&w game,, and when you lose a life it goes,,, "CRUNCH!" in comic book style)

Cheeky mouse (kinda like mouse trap,, made by a company called UNIVERSAL,,, maybe it was the movie/theme park company????)

Triple hunt (atari lightgun game i've heard about,,, three different modes including a WITCH HUNT mode where you shoot spooky things,,, including bats,,, a regular at my store says her friend is scared of it,,, well me too,,, i have a big fear of bats..)

Venture (exidy classic.. probably one of the only ones on this list that i've played.. maze game..)

 

They also have solar fox,,,, (i will always believe the marquee depicts space pilot racer x, not a chick)..

 

Space fury,,, rolling thunder,,,, space harrier,, any others????

 

Roadblasters,, that's too funny.. loved that game bitd but now i'll always think of turbo from wreck it ralph when i think of that game,,, turbo tastic..

OHHHHH it sounded a bit like how i imagined him to sound in '88,,, but just,,, BETTER.. when i got the codec call where he was OUT OF BREATH i actually started looking to the side like a frikin hanna-barbera cartoon,,,,, (please get that).. heaven help me when i discovered the codec call where he catches a cold..

Ah yes the rzone.. my brother had a friend who owned it.. in the commercials i saw during saturday cartoons the kid would literally SCREAM,,, probably 'cause he lost the game but for me because his eyes were burning,,, picture adventure vision combined with microvision and now put that on a scouter from dbz,,, not fun,,, except fun for someone who loves all game consoles all the same (me!)..

My brother had a gameboy.. i would buy him the games based on all the latest movies,,,,, then he'd say,,,,, "WHERE'S THE COLOR????" didn't take till like 99 for a gameboy to have color.. even then in 98 and 99 people still made og game boy games.. haha..

Ah yes.. channel f.. they used this in wpix's PIXX game.. i always wanted to play the pixx game but they never picked me when i called.. 

 

There was a segment of a show called BARNEY'S ARMY where a similar game called the POW GAME blew up and the guy said,,, "LOOKS LIKE THE POW GAME IS GONE FOREVER.." imagine some kid saw that they'd be angry as crapola.. i would..
