  1. I just can't remember which drives I have in my storage. I know I have 4 or so Indus drives and a couple of the last Atari brand model 5 1/2 inch drives but I also have a few other non-atari brand drives but just can't remember their names. LOL
  2. Most of the 8bit faqs talk about the common 810/1050 drives but don't have a lot of info on the other aftermarket drives. What other drives were made for the Atari 8bit. I know of the Indus GT but what else? And what features did those other drives bring? I know, this question has been probably asked millions of times but I'm still curious.
  3. I have no problem with making stuff out of semi-worthless bulk ultra common carts that really have no collectible value so I don't have a problem with the Atari cart lamp. .
  4. I dunno. I'm not keen on ruining perfectly working controllers for something completely unrelated. Its not like there is an infinite supply of these controllers. I guess that is what bugs me, that there is some clown out there scarfing up all the controllers he sees around my territory just to hack them up.
  5. http://spokane.craigslist.org/vgm/2717507732.html Really? I mean really? Lets bastardize a working controller into a usb charger for an iSomething? Ugh.
  6. No I never did try it. I ran out of money for now so I never bought it but still tempted.
  7. Its funny, back around 1978 or so, I actually got one of those Studio II game systems and liked it for some reason. I think I liked the bowling game but that was it. I had one but got the 2600 very shortly thereafter and never looked back.
  8. Does it use microswitches ala modern arcade joysticks or leaf switches like the common Wico bat sticks for our Ataris? I prefer the microswtich joysticks such as my Epyx 500xj but I like the full sized stick form factor like the Wico bat sticks.
  9. I have one of those laptops as well. Rock solid and reliable.
  10. So what parts did you use? Is this something that is fairly easy to do for someone on the tight budget?
  11. I'm in Spokane. I imagine that there is no other 8bitters near me for at least 3 hours. A shame, I would enjoy resurrecting some sort of Inland Empire Atari 8bit club of sorts.
  12. The problem is that Randy Hyde isn't exactly a programmer that is famous in a good way (David Crane) or infamous (Todd Frye). And Porky's isn't exactly a famous game because of its awesomeness (Pitfall) or if it was the pits (ET). The only real good thing it has going for it is that it is a game based upon a rather risque coming-of-age teen movie. Personally, if I had an original programmer of the game sign it because he was my professor, I would treasure that just because I got to interact with the programmer in a good way and would respect that.
  13. I honestly don't know if it would add ALL that much to the value of the game. How much is the game worth normally without a siggy? Hate to say it but he isn't a David Crane who I imagine would add value to a cart if he signed it. But then again, if David Crane signs everything anyone gives to him, then that dilutes the value of the siggy all that much more.
  14. In regards to the stock production 8bit world of Ataris. I have wondered if there are things left to still discover. Such as a new programming technique that allows xyz in games or some new hardware trick that has never been exploited in a game. I just wonder if even with the modern programming tools we have at our disposal, is there anything left to discover that makes the world of 8bit Ataris just all that much better.
  15. A few of the computer items i have gotten over the years are worth a bit. My Northstar Horizon in the wooden case I see sell for around 300-500 on Ebay, got that from someone for 50 dollars. I got a nice Mac 512K with an external hard drive for 10 at a yard sale. I'm guessing that is worth around 150 or so. I also got an Atari TT030 from my old favorite thrift store (long gone) for 10 dollars. Monitor, keyboard, and main unit. I guess that would be around a 300-500 dollar item on ebay.
  16. I really don't think that classic computer values will continue to climb in value over time. There will be a point where the people who truly care about the classic hardware start dying off or not caring and the value will start going down. People in their 40s and up are the ones who really care about the classic hardware. When we start getting older and dying off, then the younger generations are just not going to care about the classic stuff other than historically significant classics like the Lisa, the original 128k Mac, the original IBM PC, Altairs, and stuff like that.
  17. I went and looked in my box. It appears to be totally complete including the little gaming pieces. Tons of documentation in there. My box isn't perfect but the insides look like it was never played with.
  18. It used to be one key, but it is now about 6 and it is annoying because I want to store the system but I don't want the keys to fall off and get lost.
  19. Sounds strange but a bunch of the keys on my 800 (not xl) just fall off if I tip the unit over or move it around. They don't appear to be broken, when I place them in the spots where they work, they operate just fine and don't wobble or act odd like a broken key would. They just don't "lock" into the square hole and you can just pull them out with zero force. IS there a way of fixing that short of gluing the keys in place?
  20. When I first started being active on this forum a couple months ago, there was a feature that is common amongst the majority of modern forums that was working but no longer works. When I would look at the thread listing for any particular forum/subforum, I could tell at a glance that I had made posts in that thread because the thread icons in the thread listings were different: one icon for threads that I had not made a post in (I think it was the round thick dog) and another icon that showed threads that I had made a post in (I am pretty sure it was a star). That no longer happens and it is somewhat frustrating to look for a particular thread in the thread listing and not be able to see at a glance the threads where I made posts.
  21. I will take some pictures later and show you guys. I will also start doing the swappage of known good chips.
  22. I really cant' find much info about this game but mine appears to be complete and in the box. Appears to have all the paperwork, manuals, little glass playing pieces, map, Apple 2gs floppy, etc. The only completed auction I could find is this one: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 290581869606 I just wonder if the Apple 2gs version would be more or less desirable.
  23. Everything but ebay like others have said. Ebay has been around since what? 95? Classic computer prices and availability were good until about 2006 or so.
