  1. @RayTariThat is pretty sweet. I guess the expansion port isn't used for anything in retail. I was holding out hope for some sort of homebrew expansion or something. haha. Did you remove it? I have the same model with the hole for the expansion port so this may be a possibility for me. I also like your UAV mount. Thanks for the links! @-^CrossBow^- The RF can be adjusted on the module? Or is that on the board? My image is freaking terrible with RF even with a good cord. I can't even read the Harmony menu it's so bad, hence the reason for wanting better output. I definitely want S-Video so I will grab a UAV when I have the funds.
  2. Got ya. I realized after reading about it. I thought at first the A was for Audio, not Atari. Honestly I'm not sure I understand what you mean but I will do some more searching and I am sure it will make sense. Are there any good stereo upgrades that can be done?
  3. Thanks for the info! I realize that the seller on ebay goes by the same name. I'm guessing it's the same seller on a different storefront. Sounds like UAV is the way to go. I may add a trrs jack where the channel switch is. What's the word on sound? I understand the UAV does now do sound. Would the cheaper av mods work for sound if I don't wire up the video? I guess I am at a loss. I realize now that UAV does not stand for Ultimate or Universal Audio/Video like I initially thought. I see the thingverse print, thank you! I may go that route for the composite and audio. hmm. My brother just got a 3d printer too. It was inexpensive but I am sure will get this job done. On my jr, I used a nylon washer attached to the housing but the 3d print sounds like more fun.
  4. I recently acquired a 7800 and am looking to get the best video. I've been all over and found the generic AV mods on ebay (which I used for my 2600jr), the Longhorn AV, and the UAV. From what I can tell, the UAV has the best output, and I love the S-Video option. So far I have added a barrel jack to use my Sega PSU, and made a controller from an old genesis 3 button controller. Everything seems to work fine. I'm even using a higher quality cable for the RF on my TV, but it still looks bad, especially compared to the AV on my 2600. Can any of you help me figure out these things, please? 1) Is the UAV really the best 2) Are there any other AV mods that provide a good S-Video signal 3) Where is the most economical place to purchase the UAV? I found it on ebay as well as The Brewing Company. Are there others? 4) If UAV is best, which package would I need for the early NTSC model? (with the expansion port). On another note, I don't want to cut. I added a 3.5 trrs jack to my Jr. Are there any smaller S-Video jacks that might fit in the hole where the RF sits? If not, maybe I will route from the inside and wrap the S-Video around the bottom when not in use.
  5. I have 2 questions because I don't have a light phaser or any 7800 games that support it so this is speculation, but, Have you checked continuity on the cable itself? That could tell you if it's a break in the cable as opposed to a trace, no? Would it be easier to cut the extension cable and add the resistor than to mess around with female/male adapters?
  6. Ok, got it. Will the ones I linked work as a replacement for the ferrite? As I mentioned before, I had one PSU that was wired in reverse, so on the off chance one of my kids decides to grab the nearest, I'd rather not take the chance.
  7. @-^CrossBow^- Interesting. And that would just work with either polarity? I haven't messed around too much with electrical modifications but I can solder really well, especially on these older systems. I just always worry that I will mess something up when I add components. Even AV mods make me cross my fingers when I power the console. haha I don't have my connectors yet, they should be here on Sunday. That will give me tomorrow and most of Sunday to clean up my board but I know it already works as I tested it with a spare PSU I have around. The image was mad blurry but I have a feeling that may be because the metal cage was off of my unit and I am sure it could use an adjustment. I plan on adding AV to this like I did my junior but don't want to open that door until I have the console ready to play. Would these work? https://www.amazon.com/BOJACK-Rectifier-IN4001-Electronic-Silicon/dp/B07Q3HBM63/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=rectifier+diode+1n4001&qid=1618607863&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzNzQ0VDRCVU5JMzRSJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzE4MjQwM1RDVlJWVEs4QlNEVyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUExMDM1MDA4M0M3VVA4RVVCSllZSyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= Or these? I probably don't need 100. haha https://www.ebay.com/itm/1N4001-10-pcs-1A-50V-Rectifier-Diode-from-USA/292925340912?hash=item4433b5fcf0:g:CRUAAOSwM05egUKl Also, does this work on other systems as well? I busted my main cap on my junior testing it because I had a mislabeled PSU. After figuring out what just splattered, I tested the output (I know I should have before but I thought my PSU was labelled correctly).
  8. Ok great, I have a spot for the ground. Oh duh, you said ferrite core. Would this be the right (left side of the pic/ferrite core) side? I want the opposite side of the end that goes to the large electrolytic cap, yes?
  9. Am I understanding right? I'm guessing soldering to the top side is best since the pigtail will come from above the OEM connector but I don't know if one solder point is better than the other.
  10. Does Best keep their website like that to remind us of the early internet feel and how hard it was to navigate?

I think the site's just product list; you have to call or email him to order.

  11. I got one of them up. I wanted both to work so I could have a working one as well but I guess it's a later candidate for the xstation when the price costs less than a CIB Ps1. I still have my Ps2 I can lay on and the other ps1 to look pretty on the shelf with the other systems I don't play. The other one is also the first model with the AV ports and the 4 potentiometers. I have a ps1 with the unirom that plays backups. I've tested a couple. It plays Tekken 3 and MK4. I will pull it out again and check to see if they reliably play or if it happened that I played with it long enough it "warmed up". I'd rather not send something that is not reliable, even if it is cheap. Have you had any other luck finding one?
  12. @oakcitycomics Aaahhhh sweet. What's the damage (cost) for either of them shipped? I was actually looking up converting because I have few spare nes controllers. I think I have the PSU fingered out. I tested the console by soldering a 9v adapter to the underneath of the connector and it powered on. I bought barrell pigtails from Amazon that should be here soon so I can use my sega genesis PSU. I saw a post about it from crossbow but can't seem to find any suggestions on alternate solder points. I'm pretty sure I can use the next solder pad for it so I don't go straight to the power connector.
  13. No worries, my dude. If I come a across any I'll let you know.
  14. I only have a couple of 4GB ddr3 sticks, two 1GB ddr2 sticks and one 1GB ddr stick. I also have a few sticks of laptop ram if that helps.
  15. I just picked up a 7800 console and a few games (bunch of duplicates that will make their way to the for sale category) but no PSU or controller. Does anyone have one of either or each that they would be willing to send my way? Send me a PM with a cost or post here. They don't have to be perfect, or even tested for that matter. I can clean up any controller and I have a few random PSUs and buck converters so I really need the end. I may end up at Console5 if I need anything else, but for now I don't really want to order the tip alone. Seems cost ineffective to me. Thanks!
  16. I freaking love this. I've lived in Maine before and love the fact that moxie is everywhere and people drink it, but still say things like this ???. Makes me want to order one for memories ??‍♂️
  17. I'll see what I got @Shawn Also I sent the 4 sticks off in the mail already. They're gone. I hope you enjoy, gary!
  18. I really haven't had a chance to check either of them. I should be able to get my hands dirty this weekend and will post back with results.
  19. Gary has first dibs. If he backs out, I'll move down the list. Thanks guys! I probably have other ram I'll add after these 4 go as well as some other stuff I no longer need.
  20. That's how it was before flashed with Unirom. With the Unirom, you no longer need the spring or swap. It just loads backups (copies). Like I mentioned before, it's like the pseudo kai for Saturn flashed to a gameshark cart. It loads it's own bios or OS before booting the system. I will post an image of the loading screen and you can see. It finds the game file and tries to load it, but the laser has trouble so the game doesn't load. It's the fault of my consoles, not the unirom. If it was the unirom, it would never load or find the game file on the backup disc.
  21. I have a bit of sad news with some acceptable news. Lol. Acceptable (because I already said it wouldn't matter): I found the other flashed cartridge. Bad news is I can't get either ps1 to play discs. They might both need a cleaning but idk. They both turn on and run the unirom cartridge but I can't get either to play a game. The offer still stands for the unirom. $20 shipped.
  22. Sounds good. Send me a PM with your address and I'll let you know how much.
  23. I have 4 sticks of DDR3 Samsung brand. See pics. All 4 sticks to whomever wants them. I have no idea if they work because they were given to me when I bought a used psu locally and I didn't want to put them in my rig that already has 4 8gb sticks. Lol. They came in this baggie but I think I can find an anti static bag to ship them in. Just pay shipping from California. Pm for estimate to your zip or provide address for exact if you want.
