  1. Please learn the difference between images, and mages. An image can be a file, whereas a mage is a magic wielder.
  2. Thanks for the grammar check. Does that mean you know what part I should be looking for?
  3. Noticed a few videos on yt because those were most of the results on Google, that many had the exact same unit, some even the same revision. I went for it and order (some) boards. My next issue is that I cannot seem to find the right ram chips to go on the board. It's like those are now being phased out as well. The BOM lists component: 5118160 DRAM and package: SOJ42 When I search those numbers on anything, I get varying results. Mouser, Digikey, even ebay. The form factor looks slightly different on many, and most of them have different trailing numbers. Some even say they are 256kb. I assume these should be 2MB each if the total ends up 4MB, no? Can anyone point me to the right direction of ram chips for this board? Much appreciated.
  4. Is that method only for the 520st with external power and floppy? I was looking for ways to upgrade a 520st but I didn't see anything about it only working for that model. Do you know where I can find more information on this? I guess I should assume that means it's proven to work and I would be ok to get the board and RAM with no issues?
  5. The one I have is the 520st. No letters. No RF modulator. No upgrades yet. It's the basic one. It does have 512kb and TOS 1.0.
  6. So the ST I got was the most basic on the planet. Haha. Looking into upgrading the TOS. The easy way out is $46 on eBay but I'm still debating on other ways. The other problem is that I can't run sysinfo because it says I need 350kb of free ram. I'm thinking I might have a problem with the stock ram. I really want to upgrade the stock ram but I'm not finding much complete information on diy projects. I found a board from agranlund on GitHub and it says it requires a bodge wire, and found another thread on here where the board was updated to not require a bodge. Basically I'm wondering opinions on the cheapest, best or easiest method to upgrade any sort of RAM at all. I just want to have some fun on this machine and am hitting a brick wall. Thanks for any and all input.
  7. I do not see any missing elements and it seems to switch fine between low/med. Honestly it seems really smooth to me. Is there a utility I can run to find out? I just got my sd card floppy/HDD adapter in the mail today and am setting it up now.
  8. Was definitely a combination of the cable and monitor choice. BUT one of my monitors did work perfectly once it had a valid feed. The one that said out of frequency still didn't work, and I didn't pull out an adapter for the Dell monitor I have as it does not have a VGA input, but the Asus monitor works great! I have access to color modes now.
  9. This one? http://15khz.wikidot.com/ I'm not sure how updated it is but I do have a few monitors around the house I wanted to try. I don't think any are on that list, but it could be possible since that is a whitelist of known working.
  10. Fair enough. Will post regardless of if it works. I know one was ASUS, one was Dell, and the third (the one in the pic) was a viewsonic. I can get model numbers later as well. I really think it's because I did not separate the color lines because the instructions for mono have them together. I don't know why I assumed all I had to do was disconnect the mono detect. I think I was half asleep and in a rush to get to bed. I know that basically all monitors are different, but was wondering if it was possible to detect the right frequency but still identify it as being out of range if the wiring was correct. Again, at this point because I have had more coffee, I understand that I had the color lines merged and it should not work at all anyway. I went from mono out on the ST to RGB on the vga. One line to 3. I didn't even have the RGB from the ST wired in. I realized this after posting. I will check when I get a chance using the correct pinout.
  11. Oh for sure. I've read that thread as well. My only concern is whether or not I have wired the cable correctly. The error I get, is that what one would see if the monitor did not support the right frequency, or could it be that I have the cable wired incorrectly? EDIT: I think I may know my problem. I made a cable for mono, and just disconnected mono dete4ct, thinking it would show color. But after looking a bit more it seems the cable I made connects all 3 color wires to one. I am going to wire a new cable for color only and try again before moving forward.
  12. Does this mean the 3 monitors I tried it with are incompatible, or I have the wrong pins for color? Monochrome works on each TV if I ground out the monochrome detect, but when I be remove the detect, it shows nothing, but one of the monitors said this:
  13. I don't think I've ever paid over 300 for a console, current gen (at the time) included. I am sure if I had the funds I would have a Jag by now. lol. Also agreed on the spreading the money around if you have the ability, but I also believe that if you earned the money you can and should spend it on what you want. I do not want to spend that much on one item. I would be embarrassed as well, considering I have family members that could use my help much more than I could use a SK PC Engine. haha Don't get me wrong, that SK one looks pretty freaking cool, but I just can't see it. Honestly I'm ready to sell my TG16 for enough money to buy a PC Engine Duo so I can play TG CD games. lol HAHAHA I love this story! In all seriousness though, I remember my great grandparents "things" they had. Obviously none were video games. They were born in 1914 after all. But the thing is, I remember them showing me the super old stuff they had. Mostly old electrical plant or glass plant items. Nothing really collectible in a sense that it was sold in stores, but it was important to them. They never once told me not to touch it. Maybe that was just them , or me, but who knows. I have another grandpa that owns a 1929 Model A Roadster and he drives it often. He even let's my kids in it. It may be his baby, but he would rather have us enjoying it as well. Too bad brittle plastic won't last as long as a classic car.
  14. Kirby and the Forgotten Lands (Switch) Legend of Zelda (NES) Super Mario bros (NES)
  15. My family thinks I am cool, I like to think I'm cool. But I will never be "paid $20K for a video game console" cool.
  16. Marked sold items and added cx78 & Atari light gun. Don't forget, take 25% off any total price over $40.
  17. Added some parts PS2 and some pics of NES.
  18. I think the excess spaces were useful for cheat codes. If you put in a specific name, you'd unlock some stuff.
  19. I know this isn't exactly what you mean, but I can't really remember getting bad video games as gifts. BUT my grandparents were super religious and gifted our family a Christian inspired video game produced by Wisdom Tree one year. I was sooooo disappointed to receive it, but when I stared to play, it was amazing. The game is called Spiritual Warfare, and to this day is my absolute favorite game.
  20. Yeah, looking at it closer now I can see that won't work. That's the same connector I sent a picture of. Those pins on the left might fit, but the 2 for 120 do would not. You might have to make one using wire connectors to test. Something like these in the right gauge might work. The 120v look like a bigger gauge. https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/alpha-wire/FCRIMP1-RD076/3718893
  21. That's a lot of different voltages going through that connector, but would this plug help you out? I just cut it off to make a PSU for my ST but I don't need this anymore.
  22. I use pirateship.com and the rates it provides are equal to ebay or paypal shipping rates. I strongly suggest everyone look into it. It's a free account that gives you business shipping rates. @Lucas Lac124 I am curious to know where are you sourcing cables from? Also it seems like a lot of people are missing one of your previous statements and are focused on a top/bottom button configuration and are missing the point of the left/right buttons on the original stick. I believe both top buttons are the same button press, and both bottom buttons are the same button press. On yours, the difference is left/right, like the proline controllers, right? You still have 2 unique button presses, they're just on either side and not the same side if I am looking at this right.
  23. Sorry to jump in here but I found this while looking for info on upgrading my TOS. I tried to send you a message @tjlazer but it says you are unable to receive messages. Any chance you can still hook up another user with TOS 1.04 chips?
  24. Sent off a psp memory card to guitarmas from the wanted post. Quick payment. no hassle. Glad I could help. Thanks!
