Same for me! This morning it was "Awaiting Product Availability" and now it says "Preparing for shipment". Bought on the 20th in the evening...keeping fingers crossed, but these are good signs.

FYI - I was able to get Best Buy to pricematch Gamestop for the $29.99 VCS Classic Controller and Joystick. I bought one each and they arrived today - total price charged for both items was $66. Ymmv but I can confirm that it worked for me and the billing is correct.

When you've sold a product for 1/3 the cost, you really can't go back to selling it at the higher price, regardless of woodgrain vs onyx. If they wanted to clear out the Onyx for a lower price, they didn't need to go all the way down to $99. This is what a liquidation looks like. I hope I'm wrong.

I guess there's a few possibilities for what this means as I see it: 1. Gamestop has a shipment currently in progress that they already paid for before they decided to liquidate. Considering the time it takes to get items to the US from China, that seems like a possibility. Although I don't think we have any solid information that Atari has been actively producing these consoles. My assumption is that they produced all the VCS units last year and are just selling off remaining stock. 2. Awaiting Product Availability might just mean that they will sell you this console in the event that others cancel or return their consoles. 3. It's a website bug that allows people to buy things when they don't have stock on the expectation that all items get restocked in time, even if this particular item is not going to ever be restocked. I'm guessing my chances of getting this VCS from Gamestop are 5-20%.

I'm getting pumped to play - thanks Albert!

Same here.

I bought mine late yesterday evening when it suddenly appeared back online. It is says "In Progress" under Order Status and "Preparing for shipment" under Status. I feel pretty confident that VCS is coming my way.

I just got the Onyx all in bundle for $99 too off the Gamestop website. It was sold out earlier today, but suddenly it's back in stock. Get one now if you want one.

I know this has been asked before, but any updates on Jaguar CD passthrough support? I'd really love to be able to use my Gamedrive and my physical Jaguar CD unit. I don't really want to remove my Jaguar CD all the time, so what's happened is that I'm using the Gamedrive less than I would like. Thank you in advance.

Just wanted to add that I used this method to clean the connectors on a Jaguar CD console listed as not working. After cleaning the connectors, the Jaguar CD worked fine!

Guess all I remembered was the negative GamePro review. Wikipedia does indeed show lots of positive reviews. Glad to hear this game is and was beloved by many.

I love Battlemorph. Why doesn't everybody? I got a Jaguar for Christmas 1993. I lived in San Francisco and was lucky enough to convince my parents to buy it for me. I got the only 2 games available - Cybermorph and Trevor McFur. I loved them both. I was blown away by Trevor McFur's prerendered graphics and had no idea that I should have been upset at no parallax scrolling. But Cybermorph really blew my mind. I never played a fully open 3d game before. Everything was slow and cryptic, but kind of beautiful and relaxing even though the game was quiet and annoying at times. Battlemorph was released 2 years later to a dead system on arrival. At the time, everyone hated it - it was compared to Cybermorph, it was belittled for not being as good as Ridge Racer and Warhawk, and was seen as irrelevant and lame. But play it now and tell me that. I dare ya. I finally after many years got a Jaguar CD broken and was able to fix it. I bought the reissue of Battlemorph and played it for the first time. Holy smokes it blew me away. First, the music is truly amazing. If you enjoy synthwave / techo / edm, you are gonna love this stuff. I really tripped when the music changed when I went from underwater to above ground. Second, the audio issues from Cybermorph are gone. No more" where did you learn to fly", no more grating audio, just beautiful sounds to the ear to enjoy. Go into the settings and turn music up, voice up, everything else down. Third, the texture mapping is beautiful, although a bit too limited. Fourth, the game is not confusing. All the cryptic nonsense of mid 90s games is gone. Everything is laid out but still fun to do. If you want to go back to cryptic times you can just ignore the hint boxes. Why isn't Battlemorph more beloved? I think it's because the original symbolized so much that was wrong with the Jaguar and the sequel didn't do enough to compete with the PSX and Saturn in 1995. But playing it now, the game friggin holds up. Maybe I'm nuts, but Battlemorph is a classic and an absolute gem. There isn't a better game on the Jaguar CD, period. Comparing it to the entire Jaguar library, I personally rank it third after Tempest 2000 and Raiden. Just my view but I think it needs to be heard.

I dunno, the Mister has a hard time running 3D Dos games so I'm not certain the current hardware will allow for flawless FPGA emulation of the Jaguar, PS1 and Saturn. If it's not flawless, I'm not interested.

I bought this one - the US compatible plug model, imported from France, and I've used it for a year without any issues. It works great and has good reviews. It arrived pretty quick from France to the US too. https://en.retrogamesupply.com/products/power-supply-all-in-one-for-sega-megadrive-genesis-mega-cd-32x

I'm currently running a SCART cable from Retrogaming Cables UK to my Retrotink 5x. It looks great but I want to switch to component so that I don't have a mix of SCART and component retro consoles, and for my PS2 and my rgb modded 3DO I use component. Question: does the image from a JAG2GEN --> HD Retrovision Component --> Retrotink 5x look the same as Retrogaming Cables UK SCART Cable --> Retrotink 5x ??

The New 3DS XL is just going to keep going up. It's a Nintendo product, it's not made anymore, it was always niche, and it is incredibly unique. Although the 3D is a gimmick, I think that's ok in the world of retro games - it doesn't need to hold your attention for 100-200 hours, just a few hours and that's enough for most retro gamers. Further, handhelds don't age well - the controller is built in so they get disgusting quickly and they are often used by kids who treat them horribly. Keep one of these in mint condition and watch the price skyrocket over the next decade or two. The challenge is to keep it in good shape while still playing it, because all of these handhelds are hard to care for especially the two screened DS line.

I can't even get this game to load at all, but I seem to recall people saying they had gotten it to load only for it to crash. Does Battlemorph really work for anyone, meaning can you really play this game without crashing? What's the status these days? I've tried multiple different Battlemorph images and multiple different SD cards. I've reformatted my SD card and started fresh. I'm using Samsung SD cards. Nothing I do gets Battlemorph to boot at all. I'd really love to play this game.

Question how many Atari Jaguars do you keep on hand?
MikeA replied to Pete5125's topic in Atari Jaguar
Same. To me, I don't feel right owning more than 1 Jaguar because that takes a Jaguar out of the hands of another person. People owning multiple Jaguars necessarily limits how big the community can be by making it hard to own one. I think we needs Jaguars in the hands of as many people as possible and there are only so many out there. That said, my cartridge slot is super iffy and usually boots to a red screen until I move it around. I've left my Gamedrive in there for a year and it boots with no issues, but I'm not keen to take it out and play Rebooteroids unfortunately. I could replace the cartridge connector but I need to find a dedicated repair person and even then the new connector could break. I'm reluctant to do anything to it while it still works just fine, but the day may come in the future where I need a repair and/or a new Jaguar. I hope not. -
What percentage of old consoles are still in use?
MikeA replied to Lord Mushroom's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think the number is likely near 1% of the consoles ever produced, possibly lower, possibly somewhat higher. For example, Sega sold 30 million Sega Genesis units. If 1 % were still in use, that would be 300,000 consoles across the world. That feels right to me. Of course there's no way to know the true number...or is there? Perhaps a limited console ownership census could be conducted and then somehow extrapolated to determine an estimated amount. I just doubt anyone would do that. -
I lived in SF as a kid and I received my childhood Jaguar for Christmas 1993 along with Cybermorph and Trevor McFur. I remember being bummed that no other games were out yet. I bought Raiden as soon as it came out as I loved the arcade version. It was the first awesome Jaguar experience I had. I remember Dino Dudes trickling out a little bit later but being impossible to find. I bought that and liked it as a Lemmings style game, but it was the most shocking game yet in that the graphics were undoubtedly 16 bit quality. I recall waiting for Tempest 2000 to come out, but believe it or not I passed on it, thinking I didn't want to play some retro 80s game in the polygon heavy 90s. Christmas 1994 I received AvP. It blew my mind. It was the best FPS I had ever played, even though it has aged very poorly. I thought that the visual of the Alien creature were the single best video game graphic I had seen up until that point in my life. I knew that although it had been a tough first year, the Jaguar had great things to come. 1995 was tough. Nothing interested me that was released. Us Jag fans were dreaming of Defender 2K, Battlesphere, and the sure to be mind blowing Fight For Life. Super Burn Out, Power Drive Rally, and Atari Karts were roundly panned by gaming media as 16 bit looking imitations, so I never bothered to play them back then. Funny how now I think those are 3 of the best games on the console! September 1995 came and the PS1 was the hottest thing on the market. I took all my Jaguar stuff and traded it away to pay for my PS1. I wish I had saved up for the PS1 and saved my Jaguar, but alas I did not. Looking at the console's entire library now is a bit misleading to how it felt at the time. Many of the games were released at the very end or weren't highly regarded at the time but have aged quite well. The CD player or lack thereof had little to do with it. The investment of money, time, and energy into the CD drive might very well have been part of the problem in that it took away from game development.
-
The issue was the lack of games. If adding a CD drive from day 1 would have enticed more 3rd party developers to make awesome games, that would have been very helpful. It seems like that would have helped given what happened with the 3DO. However in the end, 3DO failed too despite having many cool first party games. The only thing that would really have saved the Jaguar would have been a ton of awesome exclusive games from Atari. That's pretty much how every successful console has worked - strong first party titles.

I've been eagerly awaiting this news. Just preordered. Thank you for giving me a chance to bring home Battlemorph after all these years!
