  5. Spiders and Flies is my last homebrew published by Game Select some months ago. It has been sold since then in Brazil and also internationally to anyone who wants it. This week I managed to prepare a demo version which is available for download here in this post. Here some additional information about the game. Game Story On a cold and humid night, an innocent fly away from his group is lost in the forest, when at one point he realizes that he is surrounded by a family of hungry spiders trying to devour him. How long will he resist the attacks? My Game Intentions Spiders and Flies is a shooting game in the best style of the Atari 2600 games released in the golden age of the console, marking with fond memories the childhood of many ones, where the player's biggest concern was shooting at everything that moved. This game was thought to have a relaxed gameplay, with moderate difficulty with the feeling of wanting more, where the player must discover for himself the patterns of attack or defense and thus draw up his own strategy to stay alive as long as possible, fight for points and win. Some Technical Information This is a 4k game using batari basic multisprite kernel. Although it's currently pretty easy to create games with sizes of 32kB or more, like the last two releases from Game Select, Asteroids Attack and Space Pac-Man, for Spiders and Flies I tried my best to limit myself to the 4kB size. I could easily create bonus screens, direct boss battles and whatever else my imagination allows, but by practicing this limitation, I was able to create something simple to play, very much the Atari 2600 way of being. Videos to Enjoy Here is an amazing review by Retro Bliss Gaming Check de oficial Game Select unboxing About the demo version There are no reserve lives in it, it is not possible to gain new lives and the maximum difficulty is not reached. 6. Not for while, but we will release for free some time in a soon future, because as a friend said before, it is just a deluxe hack.
  7. Thank you! And you did an amazing job here. Congratulations!!!
  8. Hello friends, this is Ricardo from Game Select. I took notice of this post and came here to clarify a few things. First of all I am very sad to see discussions like these. We at Game Select continue to produce our homebrews, but with H.E.R.O. we decided to do something different. Those who follow our page know that we never hide what we did here. I don't really know exactly how to categorize this game, I would say a middle ground. I understand a hack is when you take a game's binary, reverse engineer it and change colors and sprites, without doing much more than that, but this is my personal opinion, you are free to decide yourself what it is. We had access to the original source code of Activision's H.E.R.O (you can found at internet dozens of old game source codes), in Assembly. We studied the code and we changed almost everything except the gameplay, otherwise it wouldn't be a H.E.R.O and we generated another binary game and change the name, a very common practice that I have seen in hacks and arcade ports. So the engine is the same, meaning you'll feel like you're playing the 1984 original. We've changed the entire Map, it's a whole new Mine. Forget what you memorized from H.E.R.O., we changed everything, the enemies, one of them has a prank, which due to its characteristic, sometimes the shot goes through and doesn't kill. Now there are hidden passages, some walls open holes in the ground, some stages due to different path options, you can get lost among other things. This is a job done from collector to collector, we invest time and money so that those who like to own physical copies of games can have it. About what is right or wrong, I'm not here to judge anyone, nor would I want to be judged, but you can easily find dozens of homebrew and 2600 reproductions being sold. Think! It is from a platform that manufacturers have abandoned for decades. I am happy with these works as it is what keeps our beloved 2600 still alive.
  9. Hey guys, this is an amazing familiar Space Pac-Man review and game play. I love this channel. Enjoy it!
  10. I didn't know Space Game is winnable. I tried a release candidate version some time ago, now, I'm going to play it again. I always think about kids playing my games. Let's us know when you finish it. Don't forget the contiues if you don't mind about score. Great review. Thank you.
  11. Hello guys, Ricardo from Game Select here. I would like to share with you a curiosity about Space Pac-Man. Originally the game was supposed to be called Blob Goo Down. I wanted to create something like Amoeba Jump so instead of going up, it falls! I got to progress a little in the game but it didn't take long for me to realize that the Blob Goo sprite if in yellow color would look like a Pac-Man. ? Space Pac-Man wasn't born right away, it was just the result of that insight. Well, here's the last version of Blob Goo Down before becoming Space Pac-Man. I'm also attaching the source code in case anyone wants to continue the project. Yes, I know, the comments are in Portuguese, but just ignore it, I didn't have time to translate. BlobGooDown.bin BlobGooDown.bas.zip
  12. I couldn't agree more. ? I love to apply things like that. Using elements from games already release, makes my nostalgia appear. I like to think kids playing it. Giving them a chance to have fun. Done!
  13. Hi Everyone, Asteroids Attack was my first long play homebrew published by Game Select in 2019 e again 2022. Again, @ZeroPage Homebrew help me a lot testing the game since first versions and many ideas by people were applied. Some weeks ago we started international sales from a new batch of boxes. The game is made in Brazil. At the time I didn't make any post here on the forum and now some people suggested leaving a record, so more people can have access to the game. Homebrew Awards: Asteroids Attack in the year 2020 was nominated by the Atari Homebrew Awards as one of the best original games of the year, ranking fourth and also nominated for best sound and music, ranking second. I was really surprised by the nomination, as this was my first game, the one that wasn't just a test and I really put in a lot of time on it. Synopsis: The newly discovered Planet X, on its first pass through the Solar System, upsets the harmony of the asteroid belt, hurling thousands of asteroids towards Earth. Upon learning of the destructive power of the event, a fleet of ships were sent with the mission to destroy all asteroids that threaten the planet. But during the mission, something terrible is discovered, and the asteroid horde becomes the least of their problems. Musics and Sounds: It was a requirement that I really put a lot of my time on it. Each of the game's waves has a different background music in a total of nine songs. Each of these songs are known. I took a small piece of music from the arcades games of the 80's from the most loved games by Brazilians. A lot of people will listen and say, "I've heard that somewhere". My favorite is from wave 8, Tiger Heli. Some Technical Information This is a 32k game and no free space. I used the Standard Kernel because the playfield scrolling was essential for the game, it's the starfield. I needed it to generate the speed effect. Now, after some experience and getting to know the Batari Basic tool better, I know that I could generate this effect in another way, allowing me to use the Multisprite Kernel and minimize the flicking effect. Maybe in the future I'll remake the game. Easter Egg The Asteroids Attack EASTER EGG was revealed some months ago As promised, a year after the release of Asteroids Attack, we're revealing the game's Easter Egg. Still not able to save the Earth? Now you will have another chance. Take your game out of the closet, clean the dust and put your Atari to work. ### EASTER EGG ### He gives you infinite continues. ### CONDITION ### You can not have any left ship, only the game play one, that is, your last life. ### CONSEQUENCE ### Your score will be reset. ### HOW TO ACTIVATE? ### At that moment, pause the game by setting the Color switch to B/W position. Then activate the Game Select and Game Start keys at the same time. Back to the game returning the B/W switch to the Color position. All your reserve ships will return. Videos to enjoy Here a small gameplay trailer. A real gameplay. (A special edition with intro animation) And an unboxing. (Please, use subtitles in english) (Special edition unboxing) Talking about the demo version What I notice is that most of the demos released take just the first stages and put them in a loop. In Asteroids Attack, as I did in Space Pac-Man, I didn't want to do that, because the player couldn't have a good experience and could pass the perception of a boring game, since the first stages are easy. So the demo version was carefully planned to give a balanced gameplay experience. The demo you have 3 short waves plus Earth return. International sales are open A new batch of the game is on sale again, please contact us at atarigameselect@gmail.com. 15. A programmer's greatest satisfaction is knowing that people are enjoying their software, be it computer programs or games. Thank you for your support and I hope you like it. About Asteroids Attack in the forums, my fault, at the time I didn't do any. I will provide.
  16. Hey Guys, This isn't just another unboxing video, it's full of recommendations for who are thinking about import from Brazil. I really admire this family man's channel as he spends a lot of time with his kids playing Atari and enjoying every second of it. I'm much happier that he purchased one of our games. I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough to do the same. Enjoy the video and explore the channel. Thanks [Edit1] I think I forgot the link

  18. Hi Everyone, Space Pac-Man is my newest homebrew published by Game Select. It has been tested from @ZeroPage Homebrew for some time, since its first beta versions and many ideas and fixes identified by James and friends from chat have been applied. Well, the game is already finished and has been sold in Brazil for a few weeks. This week we started international sales, so I decided to post it here on the AtariAge Forum so that more people can have access to the game. Game Story The space ghosts are a hostile alien race that centuries after destroying their own planet, keep traveling by space invading planets in order to make them their new home. Traveling through the P-386 System, they detect a little place called Puck-Land, or, the planet of the Puckmans, spherical, plump, greedy creatures that live by eating to survive. You, Mr. Pac-Man, live happily with your wife when you are suddenly kidnapped and still in orbit his planet, manages to escape the ship, plunging into the infinity of space. Some Technical Information This is a 32k game, but actually a lot less. I still had about 12k free to use. As everything I had planned for the game, I could apply, I decided not to fill it with any more features. I used the Standard Kernel because the playfield scrolling was essential for the game, it's the bars that Pac-Man eats. Well, I still needed 4 ghosts, so I only had to quadruple Player1, generating a continuous blink in the gameplay. They're ghosts though, so it's fine with me for them to be transparent. Videos to enjoy Here a small gameplay trailer. And an unboxing. Talking about the demo version What I notice is that most of the demos released take just the first stages and put them in a loop. In Space Pac-Man I didn't want to do that, because the player couldn't have a good experience and could pass the perception of a boring game, since the first stages are easy. So the demo version was carefully planned to give a balanced gameplay experience. The demo also added elements that present in the full game and the player would only have access to in advanced stages. The demo over right after the first boss, in the first run of Pac-Man's fall. 19. Hello guys Thank you for inviting the group. I hope I can help you some way. I took some time reading everything happened here. I'm going to try to help some way. First of all, some considerations: My English still is a WIP, rardely ever I need google, but still do it. I don't know anything about hardware, I have no idea what stm32f407VET MCU is or anything like that I read here. Details of everything I've read here will stay here. About Asteroids Attack, I use Dablio Games services to produce, distribute and sell the game I created. Therefore I have direct contact with the person responsible for PlusCart in Brazil. I have no involvement or knowledge of what is done by Dablio Games other than my own game. About post theme I said to him only what was necessary for him understand what's going on here, like I read here someone saying, "His English could be equal our Portuguese" and sometimes we can't trust Google. His words: "I will share the whole design, board, chips and everything I use to produce PlusCart. And why haven't I done it yet? I still have to modify the design of the board because here in Brazil we don't use another system but the NTSC. To distribute the board design in the right way I have to include the switching for NTSC / PAL (PAL60) that they use (it works only for UnoCart board, for PlusCart it's not necessary). I also have to know what should I do to go into compliance with the GPL rules, because they are 2 project shared on the same board, in a way that meets all the rules." Ok.Now it's me saying. About Harmony, he confirmed to me that it was just the label and inside was the UnoCart. Maybe he tried to do it, but he couldn't. So I understand he didn't use the original PlusCart design, created his own board design using the UnoCart board and now he's in doubt as to how to meet the GPL rules in this situation. He also confirmed to me, his words: "If they want the project the way it is (NTSC only) he can share right away". If I couldn't be clear at some point, please let me know. Thank you.
