  1. oops, "Stargunner" (I was only trying to refer to your title name) Oh well, I guess we are opposite on this. I was simply disappointed when I first bought my Cube. It does work well on some games but for me it has to work well on all games. The original NES controller I think accomplished this as well as the SNES. The Atari joystick seemed to be able to plug into any system except the fact it only had one button. DC Controller: I didn't have much of a problem on most games but I had a hard time with Street Fighter games and yes on some games the analog stick was too sensitive. But is that the controller or the programmers who programmed the game?
  2. - Pac-Man (arcade) - Tetris (NES) - Pengo (arcade)
  3. "when well used" (!) I completely feel the opposite than you do Starunner. To me, the Gamcube controllers are simply cheaply built like the Dreamcasts. I think that push to click feature is brutal on games that don't require it. I feel like I'm firing a plastic toy gun. IMO, Xbox and PS2 have better controllers. (Yes, I even prefer the larger Xbox controller over the Gamecubes)
  4. I just got it too. Great game. The Xbox version contains the orginal Prince of Persia 2 game thats a hidden unlockable. The PS2 and Gamecube versions unlock the original Prince of Persia game. Very sweet!
  5. Gamecube controllers: What I mean is the two big grey clunky trigger buttons in the front of the Gamecube joystick make a clicking sound when you press them. I have two of them and they both have that triggerclick feel. The cross + pad also is just a little piece of tupper-ware plastic and the red B and green A buttons are so close together I sometimes hit both of them. Utter garbage. Otherwise its a great system.
  6. Best 1978-1986: Regular Atari 2600 controller. Most accurate for me. 1987-1995: SNES controller 1996-Present: PS2 dualshock Worst: 1978-1986: Atari 5200 1987-1995: Genesis gamepad but its not that bad 1996-Present: Gamecube Whats up with the cheezy plastic and clicking front buttons on the gamecube controller??? Ever try playing a fighting game with a gamecube controller? Ugghhhhh......
  7. Nope. You are missing nothing. Keep going until you flip the score. (If you can keep yourself awake that long)
  8. LOL.... No spamming is right. But here's the link anyway: http://www.levelsix.com I own one but I wouldn't recommend it. Its a cheap product. Works fairly well but not with some games.
  9. Frantic Freddy it is! I was wrong about the fire hydrant, but it looks like one anyway. I guess the cats are little fires. Thanks for the info and the web links.
  10. I'm trying to get a copy of a Colecovision game but don't know the name of the game.. Its made by Spectravideo or Spectravision, I can't remember exactly the name. Your basically a little fire-hydrant if I remember, climbing up a building. I beleive there are cats in the game but I'm not sure of it. Thanks in advance for any help
  11. You stole my thunder but here's mine: - Marketing geniuses who show tons of FMV with very little gameplay. - Non-gamers who say "This (insert game here) caused Billy to go crazy and start shooting people with a real gun" - 10,000 sports titles on display at the store and at used game bins from 1991 to 2003. (If a store alphabeticaly shelves their games, I skip sections "M" and "N") - Games that get great reviews because of their "Name" (Castlevania, Final Fantasy, GTA, Silent Hill etc.) Note - I'm not saying these games are bad. For example: If you played every Final Fantasy game (1-10) or every Castlevania game, you know there a few stinkers in there as well as some great ones.
  12. Nausea is common. I have friends who complain about it too. I have actually first experienced it with Doom64 for the Nintendo 64 years back but here are a few others that cause it for me: Medal of Honor for the PS2. Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the PS2. For me it seems its caused by too many common shades of color (such as grey, black and brown) and fish-bowl like turning. Most first-person games have that fishbowl affect. I also beleive that on a high-powered PC with optimal graphics the problem isn't as bad. Better smoother graphics = less nausea......to put it mildly. I guess it comes down to the quality of programming and the limit each persons body has. Some people are affected by it, some are not. Some people see things and follow things differently than other people.
  13. Yes! The wierd slow effect.... and some of my other favorites are: Keystone Kapers -- picking up a treasure Cosmic Ark -- the sound it makes when the laser beam hits your little ark......"ploop!" Return of the Jedi -- I have always like the exploding deathstar Yars Revenge -- When you die.
  14. I played my Atari and Colecovision up until around the NES became big (87' or 88'). But I continued playing with the C64 up until 1991 or 92'. Thats when I abandoned the C64 to the way better graphics of the SNES and Genesis and of course the PS1 later. Then the internet at right around 1995 or 96 cropped up, I saw a bunch of early emulators and websites for Atari, Coleco and Commodore. I thought, why not unbox a bunch of stuff and hook them up and see if they still work? I've had them hooked up ever since.
  15. I used to play the The J. Geils Band album while playing Mega Force as a young kid. (circa 82' or 83') Yes, yes, the cheezy Freeze Frame and Centerfold songs were played over and over and over.... These days I'll throw on the Pac-Man fever CD or even the J Geils CD now and again .....mmmmemmorrrieeeeessss....
  16. Target Fun...errr...Air-Sea-Battle. The other one that I zone out and play forever would be Laser Blast. I don't like Laser Blast that much but I could sit there for over an hour blasting away and then suddenly "wake up" and rush to turn off the Atari before I go nuts. Hmm Pac-Man and Berzerk are also zoners on the easy settings
  17. I really enjoyed Luigi's mansion. One of the best games for Gamecube. One thing I noticed that you need to land a job as a video game reviewer: -- Must be young and have lots of time on your hands. (Which means score the game a bit low if doesn't "last long", in other words 10 hours or less.) -- Must give at least a good score to a popular name (example: automatic GOOD score if its called Metal Gear, Final Fantasy or Grand Theft Auto) I try not to take reviews seriously anymore regardless of what game they are talking about. Example: -- I could not stand Castlevania Lament of Innocence yet every magazine and online site I saw gave it a good score or above. I was tricked into buying it. -- Every site I saw complained about Luigi's Mansion in some way or another and I absolutely could not see any flaw with it. It seems like a perfect game to me. I bought it after playing it as a demo on display a year ago and was very glad that I did.
  18. Arrrghhh! Well, thats the LAST time I take reviews seriously. It seems almost all magazine or online reviewers will give a game a thumbs up just cause it has a famous name attached to it. (Of course the reviews are the bases for my purchase, but no more). Better to demo or rent first. I need to learn that.
  19. -- many many arcade games thanks to MAME and the loads of roms that were available years ago, Guzzler comes to mind. -- Final Fantasy (original NES) -- Legend of Zelda (original NES) Yes, I never owned or played through the original NES Zelda until I finally got the collectors CD (that comes with the GC) a few weeks ago.
  20. I REALLY want to like the game, I just can't seem to make any excuses for it. Basically I can't find a way to bullsh_t myself into liking the game. It isn't completely bad. I just wish I didn't pay $49.99 for it. I wouldn't mind the 14.99 ro 19.99 range. I really liked the Gameboy versions and most if not all the classic versions although Bloodlines on Sega was a bit weak for me when compared to the SNES Super Castlevania IV. Hopefully Konami learns and gets some feedback about this game. (What would be so wrong about sticking with very nice crisp 2D graphics on PS2, XBOX or GC ???)
