  1. I haven't checked these boards in ages but I thought I'd post this here in case nobody knows about it:

Here's a parts store where you can get a replacement internal connector. Just yank the old one out and insert the new one and voila! Brand new NES. Your games won't flicker any more, but you still need to keep your games clean of course.

Its easy to install (you only need a screwdriver) and they shipped me one within a week.

Again, I'm only posting this message for those who didn't know about this website and want to fix their Nintendo system.....

    Hope it helps.

  2. I had my label fade when I left the alcohol on too long. It faded black labels pretty badly.

I also had a label turn brittle and fall off over time.

What I do now is use a damp cloth (water only) and wipe the labels. Works like a charm.

  3. I'm getting Space Treat, Marble Craze and the Ms. Pac-Man/Pac-man transfiguration so far.

Hmmm Skeleton looks kind of like Tunnel Runner, I might try that next and Thrust. (Which looks like Lunar Lander by glancing at it).

  4. Ken,

Please include a high score save for the games. I usually can't remember what I scored and I've got friends that come buy and play the hell out of it and nobody can keep track of who scored what (unless we jot it down).

I agree with the M-network, the complete Imagic line-up and department store look. I also would like to see:

    - Colecovision and Atari 5200 games.

    - I very much would like to see Parker Brothers stuff but if its a problem...

    - Dare I say it? some more music selections!

    - Online play would be and option in my opinion. How about going online to 'add' more games to your console?. (These games coming from you, Activision of course, every month or whatever.)

    and lastly,

Paddle games are a disappointment. If there was any way for an Atari-like controller to be used with these games......it would be perfect. I guess analog will have to do for now.

PS - what are the empty cartridge slots on the rack for?

  5. Hard indeed, and Megaman is right on.

I was an unfortunate fellow who owned the Colecovision version of the game back in the day. Having to use a stubby Coleco controller proved to be a frustrating experience.

The game gets even harder later on when you get closer to getting your Lion friend. Be prepared for many hits by bats and condors.

  6. What the heck is this? Has anyone heard of this? Its an easy search on Yahoo so I assume most people have seen this (except me of course)

It looks like they stuck MAME and bunch of ROMS on a chip and placed it in a controller to hook up to your TV set.

If the emulation is "exact" like MAME, then I think it might be a little fun on a big TV. I also wonder how accurate the GUN controller might be.

  7. I'm trying to remember this and anyone who helps a big thanks.

The arcade game was released by Atari (I'm pretty sure) and it was a futuristic racing game similer to Playstation's Wipeout.

Its not Roadblasters where you pick up little green and red balls.

This was usually a game that had a built in racing seat if I remember and had "prototype" polygon graphics. Almost 3D-like. I remember jumping ramps a lot and flying over "arrows" that boosted your speed.

I think it came out around 1987 or 88'

    Thanks again.

  8. Ooops, I've only recently started posting more regularly here even though I've been a member for a long while.

Oh well..thanks for the response. I'll probably pick up the marble game and try some of the others before deciding if I want to get them.

Are those "freaky" re-made games any good? Like the re-done Pac-man using Ms. Pac-man code?

  9. I'm thinking about picking up a homebrew game. Not sure which one though.

Anyone make recommendations? They all look rather uninteresting :ponder:

but I'm sure there are some really good ones....

  10. I don't like it either but it was great back in the day to save a lot of room from hooking up two consoles to a TV set.

My coleco adapter has lasted through the years without any flicker problems and has never been cleaned. I think I either lucked out or Coleco built this thing like a (tiny) tank.

  11. The emulation is not accurate either or at least the sounds. If you remember the sounds from certain games, you will notice differences.

All in all its a good novelty type item and I'm pretty happy with it except for the paddle games.

They cannot be played well with the joystick.

(Mine did not come with batteries)

  12. Very interesting. I think nobody has thought of that before. M-Network had some pretty good games.

I would love to see the rest of Imagic's games like Dragonfire, Cosmic Ark and Riddle of the Sphinx.

The title may need changing unless Activision somehow buys up the rights to some of those other long dead companies.

(One thing that would have been good on the current Anthology would be online play and a table with high-score saves).

  13. I can't remember what the score was unfortunately but it wasn't all too much.

I can't seem to get the Spider Fighter patch either, I noticed Tempest posted a different thread for that. Its a bit frustrating to not know the requirements for unlocking some of these things....

  14. Tempest,

I just got a few more patches notably the Crackpots patch. I am begining to notice that some games require you to score a lot of points while others only require a low number of points. Pretty odd.

I'm begining to wonder if there is a website or something that lists everything that is on this DVD, hopefully someone will do a FAQ and post it on Gamefaqs.com

  15. This is great. I got and played to death my copy today, unlocked a slew of stuff (I dig the 1982 Activision commercial featuring the programmers).

This is by far the best Atari game compilation on a console ever. The emulation is near to exact and the biggest news is the controls are a hell of a lot better than any other past release.

Big thanks to Activision and the developers who put this together!

(Now how about a way to hook up atari controllers to a ps2....hmmm)

  16. I unlocked a bunch of patches and got a lot of the commercials for the "earlier" games 1981-82. One thing that would have made this game perfect would be the ability to enter and save high scores...oh well.

Some games are brutal, I played laser blast for about 20 minutes and all I got was a patch. (man I hate that game).

One things for sure, this is the best emulated ATARI compilation I've ever seen on a console. A definite must have.

  17. Thanks for the info and link albert. (Man, I gotta check these boards more)

I guess I'm buying Avon. Gotta have it even if its got some faults like the paddle games on stick.
