I have also now completed a playthrough of Mass Effect 1 via the legendary edition (on Xbox One). I played this game A LOT around 10 years ago (give or take). I really thought it would be a chore to play through it again, but I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it.
Same with me, I'm in the middle of the third one right now and I have to say the first one is my favorite and surprisingly the second one is a little bit more of a chore! I always thought the second one was great back then but as far as replayability it's not IMO. It's basically go get these people, do a mission for them, now play the final mission. lol. ME2 might be my least favorite today, but they’re all good.
The Walking Dead is phenomenal love that series, although like you I got burnt out on it. I haven't played the final season that came out on epic. I have to go back and play them all straight through some day. Also, Wolf Among Us was GREAT, wish they made a sequel on that one.

Just saw Playstations Steam store front. I wonder if Microsofts purchase of Zeni (Bethesda etc) also pressured them.

Consoles today are dedicated game PC’s, saw that coming for years and hated the lack of BC on Sony’s side so my last major console purchase was the Xbox One X. Won't be getting the new ones, don't need them.
Finally got a new machine this year my last one lasted 10 years and played everything pretty much perfectly. I got an AMD 5000 series CPU and am still using my GTX 1060.
One thing that scares people off is buying or building a machine and how they can comfortably play games so consoles are probably always going to sell but it makes sense that Sony or whatever wants to release some games on PC, that's where all the money and viewers are (streaming, competitive play etc). I can't remember where I read it but there was a huge surge of PC sales the last few years. Probably a lot of young people trying to be the next big streamer.

lol this is good news, I hope they release it on PC too, I wonder if its playable on PC through Xbox game pass or whatever.... but I may support it by buying it on a console anyway.
B2 and the Champions of Norrath games are classics as well.

Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition
Not sure what to feel about this one it's rather unremarkable compared to the first two Baldurs Gate games.

The best you're probably going to get from this gen is going to be better graphics and frame rates. It's akin to upgrading your graphics card and CPU on your PC.
Hate to say it but I'm starting to think this gen might be the last of the traditional game consoles... which some have been predicting for decades, but it's feeling like the day might finally be here. If both modern consoles are basically just walled gardens running non-exclusive games using PC hardware, why not just keep a desktop PC that you can upgrade as you wish and run those same games? I feel like MS is seeing the writing on the wall with trying to turn Xbox into a service rather than a specific hardware platform. Sony seems to want to keep making traditional consoles but they're just not doing a great job of it right now. (Even ignoring the chip shortage that's not really their fault, the whole PS5 design is just kind of lackluster and generic, and of course we're already talking about the lack of exclusives that they've had for every other PS launch.)
I agree, I saw the writing on the wall when I got the PS4 on release within the first year, just the way Sony treated backwards compatibility. At that point I remember thinking to myself I do not want to invest on any digital games on any console at all, might as well build my steam\gog library and not to mention: ditching those monthly ‘online’ subscriptions.
I'm perfectly comfortable playing games on a computer, I've always played games primarily on a computer since the late 80’s but I think some type of console box will always have a place though, for people that just want to turn on something and just start playing and those who know nothing of computers.
At one point some years back, I had some hand problems too (years of doing IT work and programming) so I almost had no choice but to switch. Regardless if I did own a new console, I’d only be buying exclusives anyway so the library would be really small and almost not worth it for the price of the machine.

It took forever with PS4, I remember not having anything to play with for like a year or two it's just going to get worse with each console release. I don't expect anything from Microsoft, they've embraced PC\Win10 and cross platform play. Sony I expect the usually Naughty Dog stuff, maybe two releases and possible remasters again. God of War maybe one more game and maybe remasters. Same with anything else one or two games and then on to the PS6. Elder Scrolls 6 would help boost sales but that'll be released everywhere it's not an exclusive.

Not a single game will actually be lost. Not available via legit Sony download server means? Sure. Every single one is in PKG format all over the internet right now and will never go away.
Exactly.

Sony as a pub. probably has distribution rights etc. so the devs are screwed. If so, better to spread it around on the internet as files.
F' them (sony)

I saw this coming years ago which is why I switched to PC permanently and only physical exclusives on Sony (God of War, Uncharted).
Lots of titles will be lost forever.
Pirate the shit out of Sony. It's totally fine.

6) Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth (PC)
A pretty solid “Symphony of the Night” kind of game. For the most part, it was a blast, and could be my favorite of the year, so far.
I’m not very familiar with the lore behind this franchise – it’s always something I’ve been interested in, but kept putting it off, so I haven’t read any books/watched any shows – so I guess I wasn’t 100% in tune with the story, as it seemed to sprinkle in some fan service. As solid as the gameplay was, I’d imagine I’d be head over heels for this one, if I had any sort of built in familiarity (fan bias) beforehand.
I remember there was a Dreamcast game based off the show, I think it was a Diablo clone. I'll have to get this, I added it to my wishlist on Steam.

Dragon Age Inquisition -- after a few days, I couldn't take it anymore. Just felt like a boring slog with little to no progress in a story that seems complicated just for the sake of seeming high-brow important. I'm a huge fan of parts 1 and 2 but this felt like a chore.
Doom Eternal -- Loved 2016, but a few hours in, I got sick of the whole "ammo economy" crap, as it seems to be called in the fandom. Every fight was interrupted by having to chainsaw scrubs to replenish ammo.
Cyber Shadow -- this seems built on the worst parts of Ninja Gaiden and the like -- loads of small, flying critters knocking you into insta-death spikes/pits. What kinda nutter thought the birds in Ninja Gaiden, Medusas in Castlevania, etc ect would be a great foundation for a fun time?
DAI - One word: Hinterlands. Game lost lots of fans. Deep into the game (and ignoring all the shard & option quests) it gets better.....but soooo many people I know shelved it.
Doom Eternally Out of Ammo...and the parkour double dash sonic jumpfest almost killed it for me. 2016 is my go to modern Doom.
Cyber Shadow, I haven't played but I know those damn piranha fish in Ninja Gaiden Black and of course the Medusa heads from a dev who hates his own game. Broken controllers abound because of that nonsense, makes you wonder why on earth someone would think to put that in their own game.
I think the older I get the less tolerance I have. Oh well.

Are we allowed to post games that we start and then quit aka voluntarily will never touch again because it stinks? Not sure if Doom 3 is considered modern anymore but was sitting on my backlog since the original Xbox and I finally played it (BFG ed.) , I TRIED to like it but its god awful. I found this somewhere on the internet, reflects my thoughts exactly.
"Doom 3 sucked.
Lets take fun ass doom and make it this slow, boring corridor crawl with fucking key hunts like it's some ghetto system shock. The encounter design and pacing in that game is atrocious."

God man did that game make me sick. Great game but had to play it in 30 minute spurts.
